Even though she was so close to finishing her boulder home even the rock and dirt loving Venepide need a break from working the stone. It was not like she planned on showing her home to anyone. Even the geologist trainer that took her in did not know what her home looked like nor did he push her to see it. So knowing that her little home would be safe for now she wriggled herself out from the partly underground entrance to give herself a chance to stretch her limbs.

Partly covered in venom Mitja grabbed a towel from the clothes line and made her way along the woods towards a small spring to wash up. She could very easily use her trainer's shower but with such an over cast day she was sure no one would be out at the springs so now one would see her and her trainer would not be embarrassed that Mitja was out naked in public. She rolled her eyes at the thought of him getting all worked up. She was as flat chested as any male her age so even if one happened upon her it did not really mater. The geologist got worked up on some of the strangest things. Besides Mitja preferred to be one of the boys anyway not that she had many friends.

She made it to the spring in no time and hanging up the towel she stripped down and got into the slightly chilly water to rinse the venom off her mocha skin.

Was that a girl? Brennen had never seen a girl who had been transformed before. He'd met Connie, the teenage tauros who had taken him in only recently; and had learned by observation that there were some humans were different from other humans. Sometimes he could tell by the length of their hair. Sometimes by the sound of their voice. Sometimes by the hair on their face or the lack of it. Sometimes by mysterious lumps on their chests (he wasn't sure what they were, he hadn't yet dared to ask Connie).

"You shouldn't swim when it's so cold," he suggested as he wandered over. "Hi! I'm Brennen! You can call me Brenny though, and we can be friends. Do you want to play? Aren't you freezing? The cold time--I heard people calling it Winter! Winter isn't over yet." Wasn't she cold? And where were her clothes? Connie had said they protected people from the cold and kept them warm. "You need clothes," he added. "You'll be cold."

Mitja had just barely rinsed the venom off of herself messy crop of grass like hair was now fallen about her face heavy with water. When her hair was now she almost had a feminine look to her, one reason she always kept her shoulder length thick hair messy and sticking up. But seeing how she was alone there was nothing to worry about. At least until she heard a voice call out. Instead of ducking into the water like most girls would do she stood up and turned to face the owner of the bright cheery voice. From the waist down she was covered by the water, waste up she was naked and wet. Though unfortunately for the Celebi, Mitja was a flatter than a bored. Something she did pride herself on, she was flatter than any female of her age.

That bright cheery voice was just as sunny as it's owner's skin was. Bright blue eyes shown brightly as the sunny voice continued on with rapid fire questions and comments that had the venepide momentarily confused. This Brennen or Brenny looked surprising like a girl. She could see the natural sharper angles to his face and body and lack of a waist or hips, that showed he was clearly a boy but everything else about the bright child screamed to a more feminine side.

Having been startled by the other Mitja had instantly started to recoat herself in venom. She sighed and held up a hand to him singling him to wait as she ducked her self back under the water. Clearly this boy would not be wanting to fight being so worried about her, not that she would fully let her guard down, she figured she would not be attacked by him. When she came back up from the water she ruffled her wet hair to cause some of it to stand up again. "I did not want to shower in Miles' house and my boulder does not have a place to bathe yet." she said he gruff voice spoke flatly. "It is winter but the water is warmer than the air. My name is Mitja. I don't have a shorter name." She sighed. "We can play...after I get dressed." With that she stepped out of the water and gave herself a shake before walking over to the towel her shiny lime green tail bobbing.

The truth was now that she was out in the air she was freezing. It was far colder than she had expected and all she wanted to do was run to the towel and warp up in it but with boy near by she would sure as heck not show him how weak she was. Even as a child Mitja had her standards. She hurriedly dried herself off and got dressed. Her clothes were a bit cold but she was sure they would warm up quickly. She walked over to the spring to rinse her feet drying them off before pulling on her shoes. She shivered a bit. Okay maybe she would have to stop bathing in the spring for now. Or find a warmer spring. "What do you want to play Brenny?"

"Are you a boy or a girl?" Brennen blurted, before even considering the girl's statements. "Mitja's a nice name," he'd almost said pretty, but if this girl was really a boy, he figured she might not appreciate it. Connie's name was pretty too, but he hadn't quite dared to inform the teenage tauros of that. "You shouldn't bathe out here," he said with a shake of his head. "Water has ice on it sometimes and then people freeze. I saw that on the box Connie has at home. It showed people freezing. He told me not to worry, though! He says things can't come out of that box."

The celebi boy took off his scarf and offered it to the girl. "You're cold," he said. "You shouldn't have gone swimming in the Winter. I don't want you to freeze. So you wear this, okay? You'll be warm!" He paused, and then flashed the girl a smile. "Let's play tag! That'll warm you up!"

He hoped it would, at least.

At the mention of the world girl Mitja's body tensed. "I ain't no girl!" she said loudly and firmly turning to look at him as she pulled her jacket on. "I am a female if you must know but I ain't no girl!" She could hiss but but she let it out in a slow breath trying to be calm. At the comment of seeing something on a box and things coming or not coming out of it she turned to look at him and tilted her head confused. "The box? What is this box that has people freezing in it but you can't save them cause they can't come out?" What type of kid was this other bug type to watch people freezing. Maybe he was not as sweet and innocent he seemed.

She watched him taking off his scarf and hold it out to her. "I...am not cold. I told you I did not want to bathe in Miles' house so this was the only place I could go." She sighed her hooded eyes growing a bit more hooded as she looked at the scarf. She looked at his bright smile and felt her face heat a bit. She gave a loud sigh and shutting her eyes took the scarf from him. She wrapped it around her neck feeling a bit warmer since it was still warm from being against his skin. "Thank you...Brenny." She opened her eyes a bit and nods, "We can play tag. Then we can go home and get a warm snack if we are still cold."

"Well, my Connie says they can't come out because they're not real. But I don't know if they're not real, because how do we know if they're not real if we can't go in and ask them if they are? But I can't save em. And I think you're a very pretty girl, even if you say you're not a girl and I don't know why you wouldn't want to be a girl if you really are a girl, but you're pretty anyway, and what's a female?"

"Course! It's good to share! I learned that at the park. You can't hog the swings! It isn't fair!" he chirped brightly, flashing his new friend a smile. He had clearly heard someone say just that--it had possibly been directed at him; maybe to another child. "So, it's fair to share, and I can't hog all the warmth when you're cold. That's not fair either." He pulled out an oreo from his pocket and pulled it apart. He offered her the half with the frosting. "Here," he said. "It's for you. A snack! It's a cookie. Called a 'rio, I dunno why. Is good!"

"Now let's play tag! You're it!" He ran to the left. "Can you catch me? Gotta hug me to tag me. This is hugging tag!"

Mitja figured that Connie must be his trainer or maybe his guardian. She listened to his farther talk of the box and she nods, "That is true maybe they are real and maybe if they can see you two and they think that you are fak.." she stop mid sentence when he spoke of her bring a girl and her being pretty. He small calloused hands balling into fists. How dare he keep calling her a girl and to say that she was pretty. She snorted, surly he was blind. No one had ever called her pretty before and the pretty Venipedes never got good lovers when they could breed. They were weak and not good for producing strong offspring. "Your blind if you think I am pretty or you have not seen many girls. I am a female and you are a male....at least I think you are a male. Dads are males and Moms are females."

She nods, "I have never been to the swings. The parks I have gone too did not have swings..." she said. She bent her head so that her mouth was covered by the scarf as she watched him reach into his pocket. "But arn't you cold now?" She blinked as he split the oreo. She could smell the sweetness and looked at it. "Yours does not have the white stuff on it." she said gently. She took the Oreo and ate it tilting her head her young instincts already noting his good providing qualities. He knew she was a female and gave her warmth and food. He did not seem like he would be a good provider but she was surprised with him.

She gave an amost purr at the sweetness of the Oreo. It was so good! She nods, "Okay we can play. She gave him a moment to start running then started after him but she stopped, "I can catch you no problem. Wait...hug you? Why would I have to hug you? Boys don't hug." She said looking at him but then sighed and nods surely it could not hurt....right? She took off after him again.

"But I'm real," Brennen insisted, frowning slightly. "I am. They must know I'm real, because I'm not in the box. Connie says they're not real, so they can't be real, because Connie's always right. I know he is. He saved me from the cold time, you know. He brought me home!" He paused, blinking at her statement. "I'm a boy," he said, nodding. "And I'm not blind. I can see! I promise I can. And you're pretty. Why don't you see that? You must be blind if you don't think you're pretty."

"Swings are fun!" he continued without pausing to take a breath. "I'll take you to a park someday with swings and we can have fun. It's like flying! Can you fly? I can. Maybe. I used to! I think I'm too heavy now. I haven't tried it. I'm warm! I'm okay!" he assured her with a smile. "I got a jacket so I'm warm. The scarf will keep you warm now, so you don't freeze."

"Yup, hugging tag! And boys do hug. Connie hugs me, and he's a boy. And I hug, and I'm a boy. So there!" The celebi boy hid behind a tree, giggling. "You'll never catch me!"

Mitja sighed thinking to herself that this male was certainly more girly than she would ever be. That and his eye sight was really bad or at least he had a skewed outlook to things. He was the first to ever call her pretty and she was pretty sure that he would be the last. "I can not fly. And with eyes as big as mine I can see far more than you can I am sure and far better!" she called out to him as she watched him disappear in a group of trees.

She was not really known for her speed but she did have great eye sight and she would see glimpses of his bright skin and hair from around the edge of one tree. She fell silent and crept closer moving to the side a bit so if he looked around the tree from the right she surely would be hidden.

She was getting so close now, moving slowly she could almost reach him. But tagging him would not be enough. She frowned knowing that she would need to hug him. The legs at her side clicked along her stomach under her jacket as she thought about wrapping her arms around the other. She had never hugged anyone before. But as she moved closer she prepared to wrap her arms around the other poke child.

Brennen let himself be caught; he'd heard the older pokemon child approach. He gave a giggle, wrapping his arms around Mitja. "You win!" he crowed, delighted with the game. "You win, Mitja! Good job. Let's play again! I'm it!" He turned away from her and slowly started to count. "Um. One, two, three... Mitja, four comes after three, right? Five... Six. Seven. Nine. Ten!" Numbers were difficult. He was sure he'd been able to count before the change...

"Did you run yet?" He asked, having not turned back to look for her. "You should hurry, I can't count higher! Well. I can count again! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, nine, ten!" Oblivious to the fact that he'd skipped the number eight, he turned around to look for Mitja. "I'm gonna get you!" he called with a laugh.

"I'm gonna get you!"

Mitja had just barely be about to close her arms around the other when he turned toher and wrapped his arms tightly around her. She felt a shudder run threw her and she gasped trying to push him away. "Yes I got you...We can't play again if your holding me." When he let go she dusted off her chest and stomach straightening out the jacket.

As he started to count she got a bit confused did you count in tag? She tilted her head "Yes four comes after three. She smiled seeing that he skipped a number but when he asked about her running she blink as if coming out of a daze. She gave a nod and started to run. "Yes I am running!" She called over her shoulder. "You can chase now! And you wont catch me!" She was all talk he was really fast and she was less so. Her strength was in endurance not speed. She found her self smiling a bit and was shocked at that.
