To say that it was unexpected to the rest of the Vale to find Knapweed knocked up would be a bit of an understatement. The sassy elder scout had never shown much interest in bucks, or at least not in that way, but that was nothing out of the ordinary in the swamp, of course, so it didn't exactly make much difference to any of her tribe fellows.

To tell the truth, it didn't make much of a difference to Tangle, either, except in one little facet -- she found that she kind of wanted children. Not to dote and fuss over like one would expect a mother to do, but to teach, to train -- to show the ropes from childhood and bring more members to the tribe she loved. So when she met Safeword -- a buck every bit as discerning in his preferences as she was -- it didn't seem so bad when their casual friendship turned into something a little different.

Now, however, she would have to deal with the incredulity from the rest of her tribe at her...condition. Well, if there was anyone who would be slow to judge it would be the mare, Wood Spider. So it is she that Knapweed decides to confront first.

Knapweed had intended to simply walk straight up to Wood Spider and tell her what had happened and what she needed of the mare, but the strange floating...glowing creature throws her off. She pauses at the edge of the thicket, staring. "Spider," she says, her voice monotone. "What is that?"

Knapweed eyes the creature suspiciously but doesn't back away, never one to admit defeat. Especially not at the hands of some weird...floating...thing. "Well it'd better not try anything, or I'll eat it for supper," she retorts, tossing her forelock out of her eye.

The doe looks down at the berries Spider has lain in front of her hungrily. "Do you mind?" she asks perfunctorily, before bending down and taking a few berries without waiting for an answer. They burst with delicious sweetness on her tongue. "Look, Spider, I...I've come to ask you a favor."

Tangle rolls her eyes and leans down for another mouthful of berries -- of course the mare would already know, what did she expect? Damn swamp-touched with their freaking omniscience. You'd think it'd be enough to drive them batty. But then again... Knapweed cast a sidelong glance at Wood Spider. Perhaps that wasn't too far off after all.

"You really wanna play all coy with me or you just gonna say it?" she finally sighs out, begrudgingly waiting for the mare's answer.

Knapweed rolls her eyes -- from anyone else, the teasing might flare her temper, but coming from Wood Spider she takes it in stride. "Not really yet," she responds begrudgingly. "But I do feel hungrier." She eyes the berries again as if daring herself to take another mouthful.
