Madison didn't know what to do. And it was stupid, really - she'd had people try to ******** up her personal business before, dozens of times. It was part and parcel of being popular in high school, being a cut-throat b***h who traded in the coin of arm-candy and sex in exchange for... what? Something that had mattered to her a very great deal, back then. She couldn't even remember what it was. Such a stupid, pointless waste. And now it felt like high school all over again, except the person who had ******** things up was Robert, and it wasn't that he didn't have one hell of a track record of ******** things up, but she'd been enjoying herself and then... boom. Text messages on the Day Of ******** no Leon, ever since. Her pride and her desire not to be seen as a hopeless desperate creature had kept her from looking for Leon right away; her need to not completely eviscerate Robert had kept her from looking for him. But now she was getting honestly worried. Maybe it hadn't meant anything to Leon, and that was okay. But she would've liked to know. One evening, after returning from a spar, she walked further down the hall than she had to, ending up in front of his door - and that was stupid too, showing up all sweaty and disheveled and bruised, but she was done being precious about this. One hundred percent done. She knocked.

Leon had no idea the damage that he had done.
It was all things that were done in haste, stupid little choices that he could wish to have another shot at. Why large crowds rendered him into a catatonic state that made him unable to think things out was beyond his knowledge. Everything was fine before people started butting their giant dorky noses into other peoples business.
And a lot of soul searching that resulted from it. Not long ago he was able to do his daily workouts without a care, now it was filled with brooding thoughts, that he just wasn't good enough.
and the shame that came with being unable to approach mads with her gift. the item that sat under cloth waiting for its real owner. all because he was pushed into a corner and didn't know what to do to get out. It was foolish and stupid and he was a jerk. these were facts.
There was no text back, no means to see if it was accepted or refused or if there were inquiries or statements toward robert's necessity to live. Nothing. not even as time passed there was no line in the sand. Since the beginning there was no line really, it was all just going with the flow, free form and alive until the obstruction got in the path.
The knock at the door was innocent enough, no clear distinction on who was behind it, all that they were a welcome distraction from the planning of the tests that needed to be run for his new endeavor. The doorknob rattled and turned and in the process of opening the door, the jade eyes came across Madisons, and the life hunter was frozen. "Uh, hi."

"Hi," she said, brushing a stray strand of hair out of her face in a quick movement. "Long time no see." A pause. "What the hell did he say to you?" Her tone wasn't accusing, not angry. It was just tired.

Leon knew that if she was here, it wasn't going to be about borrowing a cup of sugar. He kinda hoped it was, even if he used honey as an alternative sweetener. The air was already feeling heavy, as he widened the door to invite her in, and keeping their conversation as private as possible. "Honestly I dont remember anymore, all i know was he was prying, thought I had nefarious plans for you and they all went phoenix crazy on me." the whole thing was a blur, but the effects were still lingering, running a hand through his ragged mess of hair. "I panicked and sent that message. I'm a horrible person." it didn't sound any better saying it aloud, no better than when he mentally berated himself with the same line every night since it happened.

Madison sighed and rolled her eyes, though not at him. "Robert thinks I'm his kid sister or something. He's a dumbass. At this point, he's damned lucky that he's like a brother to me, and that I like Petra, so I'm not going to give him a shot to the nuts for being a dumbass. But I'm pissed at him for giving you s**t when you didn't deserve it." She took a deep breath. "If I had a dollar for every stupid text I sent I'd be able to buy this entire damn island."

The feeling of shame was rising in Leon, the flustered face of a kid that got caught red handed with his fingers in the cookie jar, he was sure that was how he looked. "I overreact like an idiot and here you are calmly dealing with it. I'm such a fool." he muttered, there was no need to have all the bravado around this girl. "So, here to bask in my sheepishness I assume?" He did note it strange, maybe not strange bad, but strange good, how quickly he felt himself calming down around Madison. "Or just here for your Christmas gift I never got to give you?"

"I'm... calm now," she admitted, "mostly because I'm tired. I mean, seriously." She tugged another errant bit of hair back into place. "It's hard to muster up serious fury after beating training dummies into pulp. Or maybe I've just learned a lesson, somewhere." She smiled a little, self-mockingly. "Screaming fights in the cafeteria aren't good for anything but the rumor mill, and like ******** am I feeding that any more." She took a deep breath. "I just... wanted to know what happened. ... And not to look too desperate about it, like the prideful b***h I am. Heh." Her head tilted ever so slightly to one side at the mention of a gift, but...

Leon could only cringe at the idea of a shouting match in the mess hall. A painful hiss that was bit bad before replying. "Yeah, lets not give people more reason to talk about stuff, before someone else decided to butt in and give their shiny two cents." He had to agree with Mads on that. "Stop standing out in the proverbial cold and come in, why don't you, you know I don't bite." the boxer let out a playful snap of his teeth and opened the door wide for the smaller framed hunter to enter. It really was like nothing had ever happen, it was just easy to fall back into the he was-is with her around. Comforting really. "I know i'm a knucklehead so if i'm going to get a punch, it might as well be in private, just in case it really hurts, I have a reputation to uphold after all."

"Maybe you should start biting... in certain contexts. It could be hot," Madison mused, taking on a thoughtful pose for a moment, though the sparkle in her eyes betrayed her mock-seriousness. Then she sighed. "But, um, seriously - don't... Robert and them, they're good, I mean. We went through what we thought was hell together, though looking back that was the easiest part of the entire gig, in a way... but they're like my family. My stupid-a** family, sometimes, particularly the Robert part, but... yeah. I want them. But. I want you, too." She lifted her chin a bit and looked him in the eyes.

Leon was going to have to put a mental checkmark. Kinky? doublecheck. "While I appreciate the interest, the head i'm currently thinking with is up here.' Leon replied back, giving his old noggin a tap to the temple. It was starting to dawn on him that Madison could be as bad as almost any guy. except Dakota. He would be worried if her urges was as bad as that one. The boxer let out a low chuckle as he leaned against the wall in a more comfortable position. "you're right, you're family can be stupid at times, but it the main pillar that's supporting you. They had all the right to question me, to judge that im a man that may have less that honorable intentions was a slap in the face was something else". he grumbled out, feeling whatever pride he had in himself getting tarnished by the mere concept. That wouldn't stop him from placing a large palm on top of her smaller hand. "I may have handled that poorly, but i'm making it known that I am a faithful man and I want you in my life as well, as dorky as that may sound." He was going to wait three seconds before Madison began to laugh and walk away.

Her eyes widened a moment - and then her entire face softened with a warm smile. "You're one of the first people I... actually picked for myself," she said, quietly. "There've been others. The vast majority were... for stupid, stupid reasons that had nothing to do with them making me happy. But... y'know what, somehow... you make me happy. Stupid," she added, in case he got too prideful. She followed it up with a mock-punch to his shoulder.

It didn't seem like Madison was going to be leo strutting away as far as Leon could tell. It was enough time for the boxer to put his arms around her. "does that make me a decent stupid boyfriend, i sure hope so." and take the punch in stride with a cocky grin to match her smile. "So we're cool now right?" he began to speak up and swaying back and forth with her.

"Boyfriend?" She grinned, but swayed along with him, amused. He hadn't ever been quite this cheesy before. It was kind of adorable. "Hmm... sure. Why not. But only if I can be your girlfriend. Deal?"

"Deal." that was all it took for the boxer to feel at ease, the shoulders lost their stiffness as he slumped onto Madison to rest his chin near the crook of her neck. "should we shake on it? Make a pinky swear or something?" he joked, grinning wide and carefree, rumbling in her ear like the dragon did in his mind. "Or should I just get you your present to commemorate this?"

"A handshake? That's pretty formal, don't you think? I'm not buying a car, here." She grinned, then reached up and curled one hand around the back of his neck, a bit of pressure encouraging him to tilt his head down, even as she stretched up the two inches between their lips. Hint, hint.
