 Sanuye wiggled within her basket, peeping to her parents that she knew stood outside. Her legs were long now, too long for the basket. It was almost time to come out and she knew it. She poked the top of the basket with her nose, getting a deep breath of the air outside. It was colder out there. Suddenly feeling overwhelmed by nerves, she curled up again in her basket, shying away from the world and waiting for one of her siblings to go first.
Little did she know of the large and welcoming family and herd awaiting her arrival outside the comforting walls of her basket. Somewhere out in that big world was a big family that loved and cared for her. Somewhere outside of her safe basket was a safe herd with friends and laughter. There were adventures to be had and learning to do, places to explore and others to meet.
Had she known, she would have burst forth from the basket almost straight away. But right now it was scary and unfamiliar out there, and right now she was perfectly fine with being tucked in her little home, nuzzled against her siblings' baskets and listening for the low rumble of her father's voice and the warm, inviting smell of her mother. She would be with them all soon, but it wasn't her time yet. She adjusted herself in the basket for a more comfortable position, her legs cramped awkwardly. She sighed, it would do for now until she worked up the courage to venture forward.

Nivriti was curled up close by, her golden eyes watching the baskets with a happy heart. It had felt like a blessing indeed to have had children the first two times, and although this felt like the last time Althalus and she would have children, she was no less excited than the first time.
Her tail flicked, and she rustled her wings, unfolding one and then refolding it against her flank as she waited for her little ones to make their first tentative steps into the world.
Elisheva wanted out of her basket - now, but one of her legs was in an awkward position, and it had gone to sleep. She twisted slowly, her back bumping into the lid, and she flapped her winglets, trying to make space so that she could move her legs into the right position.
She managed to slide the awkward leg into a more comfortable position, getting enough purchase to push upwards properly, and popped her basket open, shivering as a rush of the early spring air hit her. The lid slid to one side, rolling on the grass, and blinking in the sun, the filly straightened and stood properly on slightly wobbly legs, looking around to see her parents
