【 PERSONALITY 】 Behind the mask, Venom is a meek and weak-willed creature, riddled with self-consciousness and anxiety brought about by persistent over-thinking. Quiet, with a sense of adventure, he's lacking the typical studious behaviours of most awkward wallflowers, having little patience for reading anything that isn't swimming in brightly coloured pictures. Having submerged himself in the comic book world from his serpentine youth, whether he could read the word panels or not, the Ekans has developed a love for superheroes that overshadows his affection for anything else. It's this young love that gave birth to his alter ego, the arrogant, flashy, reckless hero known as MortiCobra.
While masked, Venom's personality disappears under a layer of anonymity. Believing that no one could possibly see through his disguise, MortiCobra feels free to be over-confident and devil-may-care, willing to go to any means to impress or succeed in his heroic deed of the day. Given the freedom that comes with being beneath his mask, Venom prefers to stay in his heroic form as often as possible, hiding his true identity even from his friends. Naturally, staying in this standoffish and self-obsessed mindset leads the boy to losing friends easily through his harsh tongue, but he seems to prefer the loneliness to the nerve-wracking anxiety that comes with being vulnerable.
【 BIOGRAPHY 】 Born to the name 'Victor' at a Pokemon Rescue Shelter under a midwife named Chiasa. Very little set him apart at the beginning of his life; he was fairly tame, easily frightened, and occasionally aggressive, though no more than any other serpent. The first quirk that he developed was his endless adventurous curiosity, something which led him further and further from his home on a daily basis. Considered by the other youngsters to 'play too rough,' he was rarely welcome in their activities, and found himself contented with his isolated wanderings, enjoying the world around him to its fullest.
His first interaction with superheroes was in the form of a comic book, naturally. One afternoon, he'd curled himself upon the lap of his trainer's son, yellow eyes flicking to the colourful clutch of pages that the child held. Brightly dressed men and women fought against all manner of evil being and, as though realizing his interest, the human child began to read the pages aloud. For the greater good! For justice! For freedom! Morality and crime-fighting echoed in a glorified loop in Victor's head, and it wasn't long before he decided that that was what he wanted to do with his life. Saving Pokemon from trouble or cruelty, bringing justice to the unjust world around him! A scavenger hunt through the darkest reaches of the large ranch house turned up just the prize he had been hoping for - an Expert Belt. Through a frustrating attempt at communication, he was able to convince his trainer to cut two eye holes into the belt and tie it around his head. When the young Ekans looked in the mirror, he could feel his heart pound with excitement.
It was shortly thereafter that his trainer passed him on to her son, Fumio, the boy who he had bonded with over their shared love of comic books. In a desperate cry to be cool, the nine-year-old renamed his new Pokemon 'Venom'. Though the Ekans was quite fond of this exciting new name, he fancied himself by another moniker: MortiCobra.
