Corben was out on another specimen collecting trip, mostly just to get out of the house for awhile. His father was becoming more and more paranoid as time went on, and he didn't really want any part of it. Soooo there were some murders going on... Soooo he hadn't exactly had a good run-in with a human... That shouldn't mean he couldn't go outside!
He paused next to a plant with particularly colorful flowers, staring at it for a moment before deciding that he hadn't seen it before. He then squatted down in front of it and pulled out a microscope to look at it. Quite interesting...

Shiro loved walks in the woods. Whenever he could catch time between or after classes at the academy, he would do so. It was so alive, so vibrant, so... real. The rest of the world was dying, but this, at least, lived, and it was within his power to spread it. It was a goal worthy of a prince such as himself. The murders concerned him, but were they not of humans, mainly? He was an elf, and the humans, respectable and polite as they were, were still peasants. Their deaths were a shame, but nothing to be too upset over. There would always be more humans.
"Yes, you needn't worry about that" whispered sparrow in his head, simply enjoying being here, in his head, with him on this walk. Forests full of life weren't her thing. If anything, she missed the sky. Unfortunately, Shiro couldn't fly. But oh, he was poetry in motion. Such a fine body, such wonderful hair... She could forgive him for not being able to fly. Easily. Of course he needn't worry about the murders in the night. She had caused a few of them and if she was attacked, she would defend his body with all her might. She wondered when she would tell him about the murders. She'd have to. Someday, maybe? Or not? "It's such a lovely day..." Just her. And him. Walking. Alone.
"Yes" he agreed, his answer short. He wasn't a huge fan of talking on walks. Oh? His sense of the life around him told him that something- no, someone- was nearby, crouching. He moved towards them. Ah! An Elf! Over a plant, it seemed. Shiro walked up behind the elf and bent over to see what he was doing, not wanting to disturb them. Though he probably did.
Sparrow's calm turned to wrath. HOW DARE THIS... THIS... ELF INTERRUPT HER WALK WITH HER SHIRO??!! Of course Shiro was paying attention to the elf peasant. HER Shiro was an amazing person who was caring and smart and sexy! AND HE WAS HERS. Well, all right, she was interested in what was happening too.

Corben was quite observed in his observations but he did notice when someone leaned over it. He looked up, a large toothy grin immediately spread across his face. It would be one thing if it was just a regular grin, but Corben happened to be in possession of some rather sharp teeth. "HEY!" He moved to the side and then hopped up, still grinning. "Who're you?"

If shiro was taken aback by the sharp teeth, he didn't show it. They were disconcerting, however. "Shiro." he said shortly. "And you are?" An intruder on his forest. Well oh fine it wasn't his, but it felt like it should be his and it just felt RIGHT to say so. He felt he should find out what the intruder wanted or was doing. At least he was an elf. Elves belonged in Woodlands.
He took a look at the plant, brushing it with his fingers. Grow and grow strong he wished it. It was good to be gracious to one's subjects. As so! "I rarely see others when I am on my walks. Do you live at the academy as well?" A reasonable assumption and question, he thought.
Sparrow sat back and simmered and seethed. Oh Shiro, how she loved listening to him speak. He was so wonderful and gracious and... Oh her Shiro... But his attention was on some ELF. She was better than some elf. But maybe the elf would give them something. Like tribute. Yes. Tribute would be great.
