So I'm sure we are all fans of some one or somethings. Some have a crush with a actor, some admire the brilliance of a writer and some might find them selves glued to the seat when a certain tv show is on.

I want you to share what makes your squee like a little fangirl/boy and makes you all fuzzy with feelings inside. Have you ever met your idol and if not, what would you do if you could? What do you consider as fandom? Also sharing pictures or other stuff is welcomed because you might never know, there might be fellow fangirls/boys in the guild who appreciate your fandom's.

Okay, I can go first. When I was a kid I was more "hardcore" fan of few bands but as I got older, I've grown more "adult like" fandom over things... except with one.

When it comes to favourite actors, I have a huge list of them. There's still one actor who makes my socks roll and I revert to a teenage fangirl mode and that's Tom Hiddleston. I just can't help it. He's a brilliant actor, unbelievable handsome and judging from the interviews I've seen, he's also really kind and sweet person. Who wouldn't like a man like that! 4laugh When you look at the "level" of my fangirl-ism... well, you all know that youtube suggest you clips you might like according to the stuff you've watched... for me it's now always suggesting Hiddleston clips no matter what because I've watched so much of his interviews and stuff. redface

*snaps out of dreamy fangirl mode* Where was I... oh, other stuff I'm fan of. There are also lots of writers I like but Tolkien, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet are my absolutely favorite and I own tons of their books. I also find them both very inspirational persons. It's a shame that Pratchet's mind is going to wither away due to the Alzheimer's but I hope he'll still have few years left before he's unable to write.

About non personified fandoms, you could say that I'm a fan of science. I just love reading articles, books and watch documentaries about different kind of stuff but especially about astronomy or human physiology. I just find it so fascinating and I absorb all kind of interesting information but maybe not so useful in everyday life. I'm so glad my fiance shares my passion with science and logic so for example I can have conversations about the physiology behind human decision processes while we go shopping in grocery store. whee

There are also lots of other stuff I'm fan of but these are the things you could say I'm fangirl of. It's hard to describe what fandom is for me but I see it as admiring a person and trying to gather as much as possible of that persons work (movies or books) and to find interviews and articles about them to understand better the person/thing you are fan of.

Hmmmmm tough question. On one hand I kind of prided myself in not being a raving fan girl of anything in particular - but at the same time you don't have to be obsessed in order to really admire someone's work..

Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, and Pratchett also top my list of favorite authors. So do Charles de Lint, Anne McCaffrey, Elizabeth Moon, Joseph Campbell, J.K.Rowling, and Andre Norton (I'm sure I'm missing a few favorites...)

Mercedes Lackey and Laurell K Hamilton are a couple more "guilty pleasures"

Like you I'm also a fan of science! I almost do reach fangirl status (lol) toward Neil deGrasse Tyson. I follow him on Twitter, along with Phil Plait, and Adam Savage (Myth Busters). They often post links of interesting articles, speeches, or current science news. I also love to read articles in the field of Cultural Anthropology.

BTW - if you haven't already - you must listen to the fantastic Neil Gaiman narrate his new "A Calender of Tales."

Oh, Neil deGrasse Tyson is a great man and I'm a fan of him too. I think he has a great way of making the science understandable an he's really witty with his words. That reminds me, I'm a sort of fan of you Cam since you post those awesome and interesting stuff on facebook! whee I'm not so active with re-posting the links I read except occasionally posting links to interesting documentaries but I do enjoy reading the stuff you link. Oh and thanks for the link! Haven't heard about that before but definitely will listen it. 3nodding

So somehow I managed to miss this thread? I was gong to make one like it here, but now I don't have to, yay!

Omigosh, I am SUCH a fan girl. My big three fandoms for me, traditionally, have been #1 Buffy, #2 Harry Potter, and #3 Doctor Who.

Lately, though, I've had to add Supernatural, Sherlock (why yes, that does make me a proud Superwholockian), Adventure Time and, to an extent, A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones.

I just love the experience of being a fan SO MUCH. Yes, some of it is for attractive actors (holy hell, Jensen Ackles how is it even possible for a person to be that good-looking) but not necessarily otherwise how could you account for my serious obsessive love for Adventure Time?

So excited to talk about my fandoms... I'm not really active on any other established communities. It just seems to overwhelming to join a group that's been established for so many years. I'm totally willing to give it a shot, though, if anyone has any communities/discussion boards to recommend?

Oh my! Your fan girl list is so fabulous! The list is almost identical to mine except even though I really enjoyed Buffy, I still rank the Doctor into the first place. whee Did you watch Angel series? It wasn't as good as Buffy but I really liked that one too. Gosh, I had a such a crush on Spike when I was a teenager! 4laugh

Sherlock is fabulous and I hope they would air the new series soon but I haven't watched that much of the Supernatural series. They do air it in here but since I don't have the telly, I haven't watched in the internet tv's either. Maybe I should give it a try since so many people seem to really like it. I'm also a bit of a loner fan girl, meaning I don't go to forums or communities either. Maybe I'm missing something but I prefer to do my fan girl-ism bit further away and on my own way. *shrugs*

I think Buffy comes first for me because I watched it as a teenager and grew up with it through middle and high school. So it's chronologically first, but also because it was around when I was finding myself it's very dear to my heart.

I saw the first 2 or so seasons of Angel. I've been meaning to watch the whole series start to finish and I'm sure I will one day...

I still have a crush on Spike. whee

Sherlock IS fabulous. I can't wait for Series 3!

I'm finding myself really into Supernatural. There's 8 seasons so far, so there's a good chunk of show to go through. I love it.

I've been finding myself on Tumblr more and more... I don't post a whole lot of my own stuff, but I will once I do some. My handle there is paradoxfrog.

Hmm, good point about the Buffy. It's pretty much the same for me. It's a shame they don't have that many series anymore with such a strong female lead as Buffy was. Of course, we did have those "empty headed" female lead character shows when we were teens too so I suppose it's a matter of what you watch. smile

Oooh, and it just popped to my mind. Another actor from Buffy that I was fan girl of! Seth Green, he played the werewolf Oz. Oh he's so gorgeous! emotion_drool (I have a soft spot for gingers whee ) How could I have for gotten him!

Oh and Spike is also so dreamy... shame he hasn't done much telly or movies since those series. I warmly recommend the Angel series. I liked it though it wasn't always as good as Buffy, but it was a good show.

They aired only the season one in here. emotion_8c It's the price we have to pay for living this "far from rest of the world." xd I'm glad that they decided to air the Doctor Who though. It's bit of a suprise, especially that they are airing the season seven too. Isn't the season 7 currently going in US as well?

Reminiscing of "ye olden days" made me remember that I haven't mentioned Farscape! Amazing series! I've been trying to find the whole series in the shops with no luck so far. When they showed it in the telly in here, I was always glued to the seat. I'd say I'm still a big fan, though I haven't seen the episodes in a while. I'd say Aeryn was my favorite character from that series though John Chrichton of course made my teenager hormones purr like a kitten. rofl

Has Grimm come out with new episodes yet?
My guy hogs the tv playing video games so I have to rely on the web for it.
Haven't heard anything yet..unless you count the old mini webisodes. lol

How are they going to top zombies? That's what I would like to know!

Hulu, a great place to get all the favorite shows together. I get impatient and go to the network sites sometimes though. xp

Yep, that it is, though I think anything CW you need to go to their site anyway
