Akubi had been doing nothing special within his room. He'd cleaned up his shelves a little, taken a nice luxurious bath, and now he was staring outside the window of his room pondering what he should do next. The pumpkin sun shined through the window warming the flesh of his face and the fur of his ears quite nicely, perhaps a nap? He could move his bed closer to this window and then he could just laze the day away.
Perhaps he could visit Siobhan? He had promised her to do so sooner or later, after all.
He wasn't certain Riyo was up to his company, especially with how they had parted that one day. Akubi left her food at the door every other day since then and whether she took it in or not was none of his concern. There was only so far he'd let his pride fall.
With a flick of his ear he stood and wandered toward his door, perhaps a walk for the day...? Fingertips grasped the doorknob and he pulled it open.

There was a process Riyo sometimes went through after going days at a time without seeing anyone.
She'd taken Akubi's continuous gestures of food at the front of her door as a hint that he hadn't really wanted to see her, but didn't exactly want to stop feeding her either. Whether he was bound by his word or something much like she was often prone to do, the feline couldn't really say. Her mind, however, always assumed the worst. Always assumed that people were getting tired of her. That they didn't want to see her. A lot of times, she didn't really blame them.
But that didn't mean the demoness wasn't prone to loneliness. Or guilt, really.
Riyo may or may not have felt bad for the words that had been exchanged, and she may or may not have wanted to apologize just for the sake of having company again. Though, all things seemed to point to the former, considering she had been standing in front of his door for the last thirty minutes.
How did she start? What did she say? How did she not offend him this time? They were questions she really didn't have the answer to. Hell, she didn't even know if he was there. The ghoul refused to knock until she had something valid to say, even with her hand extended and fist balled. This wasn't a scenario she was unfamiliar with. In truth, she'd spent quite a few minutes outside of similar doors in contemplation, only to walk away when she couldn't come up with anything.
There was one thing that hadn't happened before though, and that was the door opening while she was in such a precarious position.
Riyo's fur bristled out as the door cracked open, the look on her face the story of being caught in an act she was most certainly not proud of.
Oh Jack. What now?

There was a small low hiss of surprise from the catboil as he opened the door and suddenly he was confronted with his next door neighbor standing right there. His stub of a tail had poofed out into a nice round pom shape for which he was glad no one could see. Akubi wasn't sure what to do except ... grin as his eyes traveled from head to foot and then back to her head again.
Yep! Definitely was her.
"I see you come for a visit maybe?" At least he didn't seem displeased with her? Akubi shuffled out of the door, brushing next to her as he did so. "I'm afraid I am on my way out..."
Like he was going to put his (lack of) plans on hold for her.

Immediately Riyo drew her hand back, only tolerating a second of contact as he passed. "N-no! I just..." Quick, lie. LIE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. "... Wanted to see if you had any sugar. Becaaause I was going to make tea. And I ran out." Yesss. Good lie. Even though she really didn't like sugar in anything really. Sugar was for pussies... So to speak. Though, it looked like there was no need for apologizing. The boil didn't seem mad... So what was the deal?
The ghoul grabbed her tail and started to pat the fur back down when Akubi informed her he was leaving. Oh.
Oh..
Riyo was generally pretty good at hiding how she really felt as far as disappointment was concerned, but there were always little signs. The way her ears drooped ever so slightly, or how her tail seemed to sag.
"Well uh. I see your busy so I'll just.. Go back to my room now." Because Jack forbid Riyo ask if she could come along. Such a thing was like a cardinal sin. He probably had other people to meet, anyways. Seemed like he'd get along with most people, if he could tolerate her.
The feline took the few remaining steps between his and her door, contemplating on whether she should either do her homework a second time or read her favorite book for the fifth.

Akubi raised an eyebrow at her request of sugar as he moved to close the door firmly, "I am afraid I do not have any sugar at the moment." It was true. He only used sugar in rare instances or whenever Auntie's recipe called for it and he was already out of the ingredient.
There was a pause. It was almost awkward but that was simply because he was watching her more closely than one might have expected him to. Akubi flicked an ear and turned to wander down the hallway, "Come on then. We shall get you your sugar."
It wasn't a question but more of a demand. He didn't ask he just decided she was coming out with him.

Wait what.
The ghoul's ears perked up at the 'Come on then', but at the mention of sugar her eyes widened.
Why had she said sugar? Why not salt or coffee beans or something she could actually use? s**t.
Oh well, she'd got what she wanted all along. No point in looking the gift horse in the mouth now.
"I guess I don't have anything better to do.." Came the begrudged response as she promptly shut her door and sprinted to catch up with the boil.
"So... Were you not going out to do anything specific, then?" Riyo eventually asked, tucking her hands in her pockets as she followed.

Akubi just kept walking and eventually he was rewarded with her catching up with him as he walked along. There was just a small shrug of his shoulders, "Not really. I was just seeing where the day takes me. At first I considered a nap, then just a walk, and now you reminded me that I needed some things, yes."
The cat boil tripped a little bit as he walked along but seemed to simply just keep moving along as if he had never tripped in the first place.
He had meant to do that.
"Isn't there something important you could be doing instead of hanging out with me?" He asked causally. After all he was under the impression that perhaps she didn't want his company.

Oh. So if she HAD asked, then she really wouldn't have been intruding on anything, and then they wouldn't have to go on this wild sugar chase.
She should keep that in mind next time she felt extra lonely.
Whether he noticed it or not, Riyo's arms had projected outward en case he fell backwards, but once she realized he had caught himself, the ghoul quickly folded them behind her, putting up the same act of nothing ever happening. Yes. Nothing had happened. Nothing at all.
"Oh, um..." The demoness tried to be casual about it. "Well, I suppose I could've cleaned, or done my homework... Again..." At least she admitted to already doing it.
Riyo could've lied, she supposed. Could've made up some super important task that urgently had to be done, but lying had gotten her into this mess. "... No, not really." She finally admitted, tail swishing back and fourth nervously. "I had nothing to do that I haven't already done yesterday or earlier."
Carefully, she added: "And I don't really have money to spend anymore, so I haven't gone to town in awhile." She might've been subtly hinting that this trip was by no means an inconvenience.

If he had noticed her reaching to help him he didn't say anything, if he cared that she was doing so he said even less. Not even his body language changed - he just went on as if things were as they usually were between them.
"...Why not nap instead of doing homework again? Go for a walk? Take up painting? Take up a brand new hobby and explore your limitations," Akubi was trying to be helpful. Encouraging a friend to grow beyond their usual behaviors was what a good friend did, right?
Akubi let out a small hum, "Doesn't hurt to make a trip just to have a look? I mean who knows what you might find."

Riyo's arms drooped to either side when the boil started making suggestions. "I dunno. I've walked the whole damn campus, found places a lot of people probably don't know about, and... I'm... Not very good at art." Obviously she had tried. "I can do stick figures with little features. That's about it." And she did it semi-often when she was in thought. Mostly when she was thinking about other people, really. They were hidden in a drawer under some tax papers.
"I've got hobbies. I used to practice the violin from dawn till dusk when I was younger. And I read. Sometimes I train my cats to do tricks." Which was time consuming in and of itself. "I don't know. A lot of hobbies take money, which is something I don't have anymore." Funny how you only start to miss the things you once had when they're gone. "Maybe I could take up hiking... Or camping... Or both." Her voice trailed off as she began to look around. Yeah. She'd never really experienced the great outdoors. If it's good enough for wild cats, surely it would be good enough for her?
Her attention snapped back to Akubi when he suggested 'window shopping'. "Well, yeah. It does hurt. Especially when you find something you really want and can't have." Speak of the devil, it looked like they were passing their first shop. "Haven't you ever wanted something like that?" The ghoul asked as her head bobbed around, seeing all she could see from outside the store.

Akubi let her count out her hobbies to him thus far and at her concerns about hobbies costing money he only nodded. He supposed she was right about that. "Mmm, if you think you'll enjoy it then try it. I hope you have only enjoyment when you camp and hike, yes."
There was no way he was going to volunteer himself to go with her. He knew his limitations on that topic without even having camped or hiked in his life.
When the window came into view he stared at the selection in the window that displayed various trinkets that seemed to perk his interest, "Auntie does collect many oddities, but I cannot say any of these perk my interest yet."

Sure, yeah. She'd try out camping. There were a few supplies Riyo would have to scrounge together first, but it was a goal to work towards. Goals were good. "Before I make plans, I'll be sure to study up on the subject." The ghoul mused, trotting towards the next window of the next shop.
Mm. Clothes. Riyo did enjoy clothes. Ties, buttons, pins, bows... Jack yes. Though she couldn't help but focus on more feminine attire than she normally would've. "Living around here, I can't imagine what you'd label as oddities." Maybe something completely 'normal'. Like shoe strings. Or something obscure... Like chewed gum. Eugh. "Hey. Do you ever wear anything besides..." s**t, what did you even call that? "... That?" She gestured towards Akubi with a raised eyebrow. 'That' was all she could remember seeing him in, so it was worth asking, she thought.

"Sounds like a wise thing to do," Akubi said sagely with a small nod. The boil could never claim to have ever done any thing filled with so much foresight. He usually did whatever pleased him and didn't care about the consequences.
It probably explained a good majority of his bad luck...
"There are lots of things that are odd," he announced as if trying to be wise. The cat-boil then gazed at himself and then over at Riyo and then back down at himself. There was a shrug of his shoulders, "Is there something wrong with my garb? Auntie said it looks most appropriate on me..." He sounded so confused now.

"Odd is a perspective. What's odd to you might not necessarily be odd to me." Riyo shot back in a battle of wise words.
But when it came to his clothing, the cat ghoul shrugged. "No, nothing wrong, really. I just didn't know if that was all you had." Which apparently it was. And that was kinda sad. "Haven't you ever wanted to try something else on?" Riyo gestured towards the clothing store. She had a lot of clothing herself. Most she didn't wear anymore because of how expensive it had been and how difficult it was to wash, but sometimes it was just nice to have options. "Like, even just something causal?"

"This is true," Akubi simply replied with a shrug. The point wasn't as important to him as some others were and thus felt no need to argue or antagonize Riyo over it.
The cat-boil stared down at his attire and lightly tugged at the front of it with a small shrug, "I have never thought about it too much, considering I do not wear clothing other than my noose in my other form," Akubi replied softly. Clothes were bottom rung in the list of 'important to me' for Akubi. He wouldn't even know where to begin if he was forced to shop for different clothes.
