The call had finally been made, and so Shun was on his way towards the city where he had been born. It had been over a year since he was last there, and he had some mixed feelings about this excursion. For one thing, he kind of enjoyed the city as a whole. On the other hand, he was going to have to deal with his Father while he was there. It was the reason why he was going back in the first place.
He extended the invitation to go to Shinokage to Mitsu, to see if she wanted to visit the city as well. It took him a bit of thought on whether this was a good idea, considering the whole situation with his family... but he went ahead and offered anyway. He did give a warning that she would likely encounter them, however.
The train ride was a pretty long one, and they had to make a couple of transfers here and there. Especially since, at one point, they needed to cross a large body of water to reach the island the city was located on.
"How are you feeling about this..?" he asked his lycan quietly while the scenery blazed past.

When Shun had told her about the call to return home there was a great deal of unease. She knew what it would mean for him to get involved with his family again and she couldn't say she was happy about it...but perhaps it was better than other alternatives. Whatever direction Shun took she knew there was going to be danger, so it was just a matter of learning to deal with it. Mitsu was actually surprised when he offered her an invitation to tag along, though she knew the warning of meeting his family was more of an inevitable occurrence. Sooner or later she was going to meet his father again. They were engaged after all.
With only a couple of days to fret about it Mitsu packed her bags and followed Shun to the train station where they took off. The place she had come from was rather large, much bigger than a normal town but she had a feeling it was nothing like what Shun had described to her. Tall buildings that reached toward the sky with walls of glass and metal. It was something she had only seen in the movies.
Eyes locked on the window beside her Mitsu watched the scenery go by without even seeing it. There was too much on her mind to focus on anything else. It was probably why the ride had been so quiet thus far.
"Hmm?" She heard some symbalence of a sound come from Shun's direction and finally she peeled her eyes from the window to give him her attention. The lycan looked lost though, her eyes questioning. She hadn't quite caught what it was her reaper had said.

It seemed that Mitsu had been lost in thought before he spoke up. Shun shifted a little in place as he looked out the window as well.
"How are you feeling..?" he repeated? He knew that she had a general sense of unease about this whole thing, and he couldn't really blame her. She wasn't entirely approving of his family, and what this meeting would most likely bring. Unfortunately, he wasn't really sure what to do about it. There were options, but he was so certain about how willing he was to go down any of the paths.
The Family offered many things that would be useful, but it had its downfalls as well.
Soon after he had asked his question, the train slowly came to a halt. It was their stop. Getting up, he stretched out, then offered a hand to Mitsu. The city was a crowded place. He wanted to make sure that she stayed close to him.

As he repeated his question Mitsu had to give it a little thought. "Nervous....mostly." Was all she managed to say before the train came to a stop. Shun was the first one up and Mitsu followed though slowly and grabbed her things. Once everything was in place she focused on Shun's offered hand before slipping her's into it. Hopefully this wasn't going to be a shell shocking experience.
"Does your father know?" The question was at random and it took a moment longer for Mitsu to realize she needed to verbally clarify her mental thought. Shun couldn't see into the chaos that was her mind, but that was probably for the better. "About us?"
It was hard to say what would come of his father knowing about their relationship. She knew what danger it would hold if Suto were to learn about it but she tried not to think about that man. The likelihood that she would ever return to that house was very unlikely.

Shun gripped her hand gently, then went on and guided her off the train. Once off, he paused at her question. His father and Mitsu had met once before, but he hadn't told him directly about their relationship.
"Not unless he suspected something when he met you on Halloween," he said quietly, "But I hadn't told him, no."
Quite frankly, he wasn't entirely sure how that would turn out. But he was going to be standing his ground if the older man had a problem with things. He was not ashamed about the way he felt for Mitsu. Grimacing lightly, he continued to walk so they were on the streets. The city was busy, to say in the least. All sorts of people were going on about, minding their own business. A wave of familiarity hit him as he looked around. Not much had changed here at a first glance.
"But... no matter what happens, I will be here for you," he added, looking down to try and meet her eyes.

As soon as they were off the train Mitsu realized their first problem, or rather her first problem.. It was a madhouse. People were everywhere walking by and bumping into one another. It was like nothing Mitsu had ever seen or experienced before. The sea of people was just as vast as the large body of water they had passed to get here.
Shuffling closer to Shun she walked as close to him as possible as they made their way further into the chaos. Staying on the train felt like a good idea but that really wasn't an option.
"Do you think it would be bad if he found out?" Mitsu had a feeling the answer would be yes but Shun would know better than anyone about it. His reassurance had her lifting her head, her eyes seeking his. She really wasn't as worried about herself but about him. When the time came would she be able to help him?

Thinking about that, Shun was trying to gauge how things would go once the older Kuroda found out.
"I'm sure he won't approve, given his stance on close bonds. Things likely won't go smoothly, but he is bound to find out sooner or later," he replied. As they walked along, he soon noticed that Mitsu was walking rather close to him, more so than usual. Either the crowd or what was coming ahead was likely making her this nervous. Maybe it was both. For now, he gripped her hand more tightly and made his way through to guide her. She had gotten better about things, but large crowds probably still were hard for her to deal with he guessed.
"We aren't too far from where we need to be," he said.

And suddenly Shun's ability to reassure was gone. Just knowing it was a waiting game wasn't really helping but Mitsu already knew that. Sooner or later his father would find out and at that point they would know how hard he would make it for them. Mitsu's only hope was that he wouldn't try to split them up just because he didn't like close ties or bonds.
"Aren't far? Where are we going exactly?" Mitsu tried to look ahead but all she could see were towering buildings and more people. So many people. Where did they all come from?

".. Home," Shun said quietly. There was a pause before he continued to speak, "We can at least put our things down. It's.. in the same building as what's more or less our headquarters, but it's on a different floor from where the business is conducted. Kaitou stays up in that area most of the time so we shouldn't run into him yet."
In other words, it was pretty safe to say that they would be fine there. Still, he just hoped that Mitsu would be able to relax inside the building. Pausing on the sidewalk, he thought a little longer, then glanced to the side again.
"I don't think we'll have to worry about the associates too much. They aren't all like him," he said quietly. Some had treated him alright, but it wasn't a very open sort of thing as they didn't want to anger the older Kuroda, who wanted to keep things very strict for his son.

Home...
Somehow considering the circumstances that word wasn't as inviting as it could have been. Even more so as Shun explained exactly where home was. "T..the same building?" Mitsu thought Shun's home would have been separate and far away from his family's main base of operations but apparently they were one in the same. There had been a glimmer of hope but it diminished quickly to nothing.
As Shun paused on their walk Mitsu looked around wondering if he had spotted something only for him to give her another odd form of reassurance. Glancing around nervously at the people around them she motioned for Shun to come closer. Once he was close enough to speak to quietly she let him know what was on her mind. "When you say....'I don't think...it doesn't really instill confidence."

Shun furrowed his brow at that, but then let out a sigh, shaking his head.
"We won't have to worry then. It's just been awhile since I've really dealt with them. But... we'll be fine. I'm sure of it," he said quietly. He realized he wasn't doing a very good job of reassuring her. Right. His honesty. Sometimes it was too much.
Continuing to walk along, he kept going until they were in front of one of the buildings.
"Here we are..." he said quietly. He paused, taking in a breath, then went on and opened the door. The entrance looked like some sort of lobby. The place looked pretty well up kept, and had somewhat of an asian motif to it.
"To the elevators on the side..." he nodded while beginning to make his way over. It didn't seem like there was really anyone on the lobby level at the moment.

His words held a bit more confidence this time and Mitsu tried to nod in understanding, following her reaper the rest of the way to their destination. When it seemed they had arrived her eyes trailed upward at the building taking in its appearance. Honestly it looked like any other building in the city, Mitsu was expecting something that stood out more...perhaps in an ominous way. Wasn't that how it was in the movies?
As her eyes shifted down again she watched as Shun entered the lobby, her feet hesitant to follow. She stood in the doorway for the longest time looking around the room as if it were a snake pit. Uneasy and unsure Mitsu began to fidget with her jacket as she slowly made her way inside, her actions more like a startled animal. It looked like the slightest thing would make her bolt back out of the building and toward the train station.

"Mitsu..." he whispered, taking note of her body language. She seemed really nervous. But unfortunately, he felt that she was just going to need to realize that this place wasn't that bad in itself. It was really mostly his father..
In the elevator, he hit the button to head up to where his living quarters were. It was a few floors up. While waiting, Shun gripped her hand, trying to get her to feel a little more at ease. Though, just before they reached their destination, the elevator stopped an opened up. An older reaper could be seen waiting on the other side, though it wasn't Kaitou.
"Oh my! I didn't expect to see you there, Shun," the man said before giving a small bow and stepping in. He looked over the younger reaper and his guest with a sense of curiosity. His words also held a stronger sense of sincerity than anything Kaitou said, "I heard you were coming back, but I didn't realize that would be today. Who is the lovely lady?"
"You know how my Father is if I were to be late, Shiro," Shun replied quietly, "This is Mitsu... she's my guest."
"Aaah, yes. Of course," replied Shiro. For a moment, he furrowed his brow in concern as he thought over a thing or two. He wasn't too certain how Kaitou would react to this sort of guest, but he shook it off and went to address the lycan more directly, "Welcome then, Mitsu."

When she heard her name whispered Mitsu turned her gaze toward Shun, her ears folding back in a pitiful manner. She knew she wasn't doing a very good job of hiding how she felt about the place but it was hard not to when she didn't know what to expect.
Moving stiffly at first Mitsu finally picked up her pace until she was inside the elevator with Shun. The doors closed and it was vaguely familiar to being in a cage. Somewhat nostalgic actually and not in a good way.
Eyes focused on the door Mitsu counted away as the elevator dinged at each floor. She knew what button Shun had hit so it was just a matter of counting down until they reached it. Why was Shun's room always so high off the ground? It was unsettling to be so high up, she was not a bird.
She made a startled noise as the elevator suddenly came to a halt and not on the intended floor. Mitsu was worried who would be on the other side but when she was faced with a stranger she sighed quietly in relief.
As the older man and Shun exchanged words Mitsu peeked around him to see what was on this floor. She was still unsure what to expect. Torture devises? Bodies? None of that seemed to be present. It was only when the older man addressed her did she turn her attention back to him and she nodded slightly before bowing her head in greeting.

The hallway Shiro had come from looked pretty normal. There wasn't anything in particular that stood out about it. He also noticed that the girl seemed a little shy. With a warm smile, he hit a higher floor's button, then stood to wait.
Before long, they reached the floor Shun had requested.
"Excuse us," he said quietly to the older man.
"Of course. I'll see you around."
The reaper guided the lycan off the elevator. The room they had entered in upon stepping out looked to be some sort of living room type of area. It was clean and looked rather normal as far as what a modern Halloween citizen would have.
"Not much had changed here..." he mused while guiding her along. His own room wasn't far off. And inside, was a fairly simple bedroom. There were a few decorative weapons around and it was a decent size, but it wasn't drastically different from his room back at the school.
"Here's my room.. would you rather stay in here or use a guest room instead?" he asked her. He wasn't sure how comfortable she'd be on her own, given the way she was acting over all.
