It wasn't just a field trip. Sure, the golems were an excuse to get off the island, to get a closer and more intimate look at what exactly he was supposed to be dealing with on the battlefield, but there was also a much more acute and pressing reason underpinning everything Rep did. There was one single name he wanted to find out more about, a little detective work here and there.
His tail swished along with his thoughts of grand revenge as he sauntered in a fashion that was anything but dainty along a path in the school grounds. It was a nice day as far as halloween had them, and Massacre had even deigned to get his hooves dirty, trotting along, cantering ahead to sniff plants and generally being about as excitable as a tiny cow got.

There were still many uncomfortable feelings to be addressed, and many apologies to be made, and Thackery was still subscribing to the best of methods to confront all of it. Which was, namely, avoiding it all until it felt a little less terrifying. Still, the guilt crept through in one of the most comical of ways: instead of the cheery blues or oranges of his usual kitsune minipet companions, he walked alongside a heartless bakekitsune. Because he felt heartless, and minipets were the most serious of ways to prove as much. He appeared lost in his thoughts as he wandered slowly along, hand outstretched to occasionally brush against a twiggy branch.

Rep was intently watching Massacre on his miniature adventure, always glad to get a chance to let the little guy get out and about in his natural habitat. At first he'd been afraid he'd run away the minute he set him down, but he never had, and for whatever reason and that was reassuring. The little cow was sniffing along some plants, when he stopped, sniffed and dashed on ahead. Rep trailed him and only when he did, spotted Thack. "Mass!" he barked as the tiny cow made a beeline for the bakekitsune with eager moos.
"Leave people's pets alone."
He completely forgot about the whole vocal dissonance thing.

Still lost in his thoughts, it took Thackery a bit to realize that another minipet had even approached them. By the time he caught a glimpse of the little bull, Iota was already rolled over onto her back, pawing playfully up at her new playmate. Their interaction brought a smile, and he moved to pet the other creature, startled midway by a voice calling out to it. The ghoul in front of him was stunning, which was putting it mildly. She even wore a cute little dress that accented her tails... oh Jack, was she a kitsune too?! His breath caught in his throat, and any questions about her voice were no longer relevant to his interests. Because when someone looked like that, well. Who cared how they sounded? "Ha...ha! Uh, it's okay! I don't mind as long as Iota doesn't bother...'Mass', right?" he stammered, eyes wide. "Sooo, I'm Thackery! I haven't seen you before! Are you a kitsune?" The last question must have slipped past his filter. Oops.

Mass was having a whale of a time, full of energy and eagerness without the steady drain of the human world weighing on him, he felt like he could play forever and intended to do so for as long as he possibly could. As Thack petted him he gave him an eager and delighted little moo, bouncing up onto his hind hooves with a swish of his fiery tail and flailing eager forelegs at him. It wasn't really the kill on sight instinct Rep had been trying to train into him.
Rep's primary concern however wasn't Mass and his ridiculous gambolling but the figure in front of him. He'd seen him before, he was absolutely sure of it. The death of Killzone had been seared into his thoughts, the slow motion dread and terror of it all unfolding as if in a haze before his eyes. And this guy - was he even a guy? - had absolutely been present that day. And the name. He could have cackled aloud at the name. He'd been looking for him and never known how close he'd been.
Some instinct in Rep moved deftly to the surface at the question of what he was. He wasn't sure what he was, but some instinct said it would be in his favour to be whatever this abomination wanted him to be. "Yes, I am." he said, his voice kicking up the scale slightly, it was barely even intentional, it was like he was simply acting again the way he had been with Leon, donning some old persona he probably should not.
Tracey said cryptically. He wasn't sure what he meant.
He brought a clasped and dainty hand to his chest, this golem well suited to appearing simpering and lost, wide brilliant eyes never quite losing the deep seated ferocity that looked out from their depths. "And that's good, I worry about him, he's very unruly. I'm Roxy." he said, drawing upon his bank of names primarily gleaned from strippers and prostitutes.
"Roxy" gave him what she hoped was a naive sort of frown. "And I am new. Is it so obvious?"

The continued adorable antics of Mass merited a noise from Thackery that definitely would not have helped anyone determine his gender, followed by an ' aaawwwww' muffled by the hands pressed over his mouth. Iota was considerably less impressed, but did still want to play, pouncing (and missing) the other minipet's tail swishes. As absolutely precious as the pet was, it couldn't hold a candle to the fact that there was a new kitsune right here in front of him. Roxy was a little... different for a kitsune name, but he was in no place to judge. This did, however, mean that he would need a new notebook, and a new list of preferences and favorites and schedules to memorize. He was going to have a busy week ahead of him. "Oh! No, uh, you're doing perfectly okay! It's just...I know pretty much everything about all the kitsunes here, and I don't know anything about you, so you must be new." That sounded a lot less creepy in his head. "Wait, I mean..." That was exactly what he meant, so he was drawing blanks on a convenient excuse here. "Well, anyway, Roxy, if you need any company ever or maybe someone to show you around or a playmate for Mass since it might help you not worry about any of that unruly thing you were mentioning," he took a deep breath and stood a little taller. "I'm here for you!"

Rep felt like a magnificent predator, after all, as far as he was concerned, there was no predator more nuanced and deceptive than the female. Women could toy with people, and toying was exactly what he intended to do. He couldn't harm Thackery like this, not physically, but he could listen and learn, and he intended to, all of his attention and focus narrowed in on the cerberus.
"I've not met many other kitsune." he said with what he hoped was a sultry sort of look - he'd done a lot of observing very professional ladies in their line of work - "I would love to know more about you though. As well as the school."

The way that Roxy was looking at him made Thackery feel partially fuzzy on the inside and partially like Ash would get really mad if he saw her right now, but he reasoned that there was no harm in just talking. Especially when she had requested that he talk about one of his most favorite subjects. "Um, sure, yeah! I'm Tha--oh wait, I already told you that part, so, uh...I've got two brothers, and we're triplets, actually, 'cause I'm a Cerberus. And I'm in my third year here, so all I have left to do is make sure I graduate and stuff! And I have a boilfriend named Ash, and I really like minipets and keys, and I'm not exactly sure what I want to do when I graduate which is kind of scary since a lot of other people in my classes do, but I'm sure it'll work out okay. I really wanna guard something important, but there isn't a 'guard something important' shop to work at so I guess I'll have to look harder." Politeness dictated that he shouldn't just ramble on about himself, even if she had asked, so he tried to steer the conversation back to something that directly involved her. He still kind of hoped that she might want to talk about him some more. That was a fun thing to talk about. "And also, maybe when you're free again and I can plan some stuff you can stop by my room in the Demon dorms and..." His mind wandered to all of the various kitsune posters and decorations pinned up in his room that might have made him look too weird to the ghoul. Maybe a different idea. "...or I can meet you somewhere and introduce you to the other kitsunes I know, if you think it'll help you feel better here. If it wouldn't, you don't have to! But other than all that, is there anything in particular you wanted to know?"
