The library was pretty quiet, which was good, because it was a bit embarrassing for Terra. The reaper ghoul was trying her best to get used to reading common--and it all started with the scareling books. She had a pile of scareling books (Nancy Grue - teen detective was her favorite so far, she was well into the first book, although it had taken a long time and a lot of dictionary work.) and was curled up in a big chair towards the back of the library, sounding out a rather large word. "Im... per... ti... nent," she said slowly, trying to figure out what it meant. She pulled out her massive dictionary to look up the word. "Oh! That is a good word!" she said when she found it. "Ahh, she will fall for this boil sooner or later," she declared happily. So she got a little distracted with the romance part of the story, so sue her :T

When he finally discovered the library, Matteo was more than happy to spend most of his free time there. He spent more time peoplewatching than reading, however, because most books in his possession ended up with broken spines, dog-eared pages, and scribbles in the margins, and he doubted the proprietors would appreciate getting their books back in such a sorry state. It was interesting enough to see what other people were reading -- and, occasionally, make out snatches of text from a distance, the most he could allow himself to read while keeping the books well out of range of his restless hands.
There was one ghoul who had been here for awhile, fussing over books Matteo vaguely remembered from his childhood. She often muttered to herself, and out of curiosity, Matteo frequently found himself glancing back at her, wondering what she was reading.
Finally, he decided to approach her, and in a particularly rare occurrence, he decided to do so normally. Matteo walked up to her chair with Peppino in his arms.
"Hey," He said, voice small and soft. He glanced down at the dictionary in her arms, then at the pile of books. "What're you reading?"Ice Queen Sorry I took so long with this ; A; School has kept me busy lately, but I should have more time to RP soon!

Vethrfolnir OTL I'm so sorry, I lost track of this one. Terra looked up, a bit startled. "Hola!" she said once she had recovered. "I am reading Nancy Grue! She is about to explain who the devious person is," she explained, her eyes going to the puppet in his arms. Was it a toy? She couldn't figure out why a teenager would be carrying a doll around, though-- "You are un reaper, no?" she asked him. Perhaps the doll was his familiar! "I am one as well! My name is Terra!"

The puppeteer tilted his head, apparently not noticing how sudden his appearance was. The title of the book was familiar; something his cousin Celine used to read, he was certain. He might have read those books himself, once or twice. At her observation, he cracked a smile. "That obvious? Nice to meet you, Terra."
He didn't offer his hand. Instead, the puppet in his arms stirred, as if waking up from a long nap. The voice that came out of it was completely unlike Matteo's own: "'Ey, who's da dame? What's wid da face paint? Ya goin' to a carnival or somethin'?" Ice Queen Trying to get caught up with everything ; w;~

Oh, it WAS his familiar! Her eyes went wide in excitement. "Hola! I am Terra, senor familiar," she said to the puppet. "I am not going to a fiesta at the moment, though--I would be if I knew where one was! But this is a tradition from where I come from, which, actually, is usually an ongoing fiesta during the weekends," she admitted. "May I ask both of your names?" she asked, glancing from the puppet up to Matteo. It was obvious by now that she believed the puppet was alive--the familiar thing was foreign to her, but she was ready to embrace it wholeheartedly. Anything could be a familiar, right?

A little smile twitched across Matteo's lips. Peppino was his familiar, as far as he was concerned, and he was glad to hear Terra voice it. His magic stretched a broad, toothy grin over the puppet's face in return. Another thing he couldn't help but notice was that she used some familiar words - Spanish, maybe, not too far from Italian. Matteo wondered which part of Halloween she was from, and decided he'd have Peppino ask.
"I'm Matteo," He replied. Peppino leaned over Matteo's arms to reach a stubby arm over to Terra, offering it for a shake.
"And I'm Peppino. So, da face paint's fer a party, huh? And ya have one every weekend?! Ain't nothin' like dat happenin' over here -- where ya from? It sounds like my kinda place!"
