It was a chilly morning that day as Notch crept out from the burrows, managing to leave his family asleep in order to catch an early breakfast. Things were changing now; they were getting bigger, older. They were expected to be more independent and to behave and look after themselves. It was a rather exciting time for Notch, despite the recent hardships the warren had been suffering. Unlike some youngsters, he was getting to the point where he wanted to wander off from the safety of his mother's side, to test the world and perhaps prove himself in the process.
Lately trouble had been brewing. Being a youngster he wasn't all that sure of what was going on, apparently some strange rabbits from the outside had been causing a stir. He pondered over it as he found a spot at the edge of the hill, peering out across the farmland in the distance and nibbling quietly on a little patch of clover. His father had been a hlessi once, but more than ever Rustlefoot seemed hesitant to tell them the stories they'd loved to hear when they'd been younger. He tried not to let it bother him too badly, but he loved those old stories, and he found himself thinking about a life on the run, amongst other exciting things. He'd be old enough to go on raids, soon, another warrenmember had told him, and as he ate he let his thoughts absorb him, hardly paying attention to his surroundings.((Note: I noticed the certs updated, but they are outskirters in this RP.))

You have been spotted by Raven! She will have THREE DAYS to reply, if Raven does not post in three days, it is assumed you slipped past. Each rabbit attempting to transfer MUST POST AT LEAST TWICE before attempting to transfer again. You must have at least one post reacting to the Owsla. (Psst, might wanna try winning Raven over *eyebrow waggle*)

"Wait up, Notch!" The darker rabbit might have evaded much of their large family in his early morning departure, but he had not missed the attention of Drift, who scrambled out into the early morning light, his pale body blending in rather well with the amount of snow that had covered much of the down. When he had been a tiny thing, he thought himself an eyesore, but at least now he knew he did have an advantage in these harsher conditions. Maybe it would even come to his benefit later on in life - he loved the stories about raids and was sure he could do well to blend in with the snow. Any other time of year, though, and he'd stick out like a sore toe.
Drift was a happy-go-lucky sort and while he knew there were things going on in the warren that were less than stellar, he didn't worry himself with what they were. He was more concerned with the lack of food and the way his belly rumbled when he couldn't find a root or bark to settle it. His parents did their best to provide for the little ones, but they were almost adults and had to start doing things on their own, something he was uncertain about.
The little, pale furred buck hurried to his brother's side, grinning as he came to a halt.
"Ch'a wanna do today?"

While he might have been a bit put off if he'd glanced back and seen his sister or younger brothers loping through the snow after him, his mind eased when he caught sight of Drift. A smile graced his whiskered face as he slowed down, before he began to shuffle through the snow to find a ragged, snow-soaked patch of grass, an excellent find to say the least. "Come on, then." He called back, planning to share his find with his sibling. Though he loved all of his family, Drift always seemed to be the brother he gravitated towards the most. As he had grown older he could not help but find it amusing how divided they all were as siblings, name and appearance wise. Perhaps it was their similar, simple names that caused them to stick to one another, or the light-colored coats they had inherited, or the way Hrair'hyz was so unlike them and their father. Like Drift, Notch was laid back and not too prone to worrying over the looming problems.
It didn't mean he wasn't prone to making rash decisions, though. He leaned into the little divot in the snow to nibble at the meager fare he'd dug down to get at. "Found a little something. You're welcome to it." He said as he chewed, disregarding manners. "I'unno. We could play tag...or, we could explore a bit. S'been dull lately." He observed in an almost offhanded way, side glancing to see how Drift would handle it. Their parents (and everyone else, really) would always say that dull was good. It was safe and comfortable, and any rabbit with common sense would be happy with their lot in the Down. Notch's youth caused him to spurn some of that common sense. With their light coats, a bit of wandering might even be a safer venture than it would be for other rabbits.

Yona crept near the edge of the down, still exhilarated by his success recruiting Fennel. Had he been less cautious, he might have been tempted to try his luck with a doe, but he still dreaded encountering an owsla. Fast was better! Whichever likely rabbit appeared first, he would recruit. He'd had time to think things over since his encounter with Fennel; surely the rabbits that hung about the edge of the down were hungrier and more desperate than the ones that stayed near the burrows. They'd be ready to leave. He hunkered down in the snow, trusting his gray pelt to keep him hidden. He watched the two small rabbits on the hill, wondering if they were male or female. Hard to tell from this distance, but it didn't matter. Still staying low, he crept slightly closer.

"Oi, thanks Notch! I feel half starved." A bit faint too, to be honest. The outskirter was hungry and if to agree with his statement, his stomach gave a noisy growl. The high spirited, white furred rabbit gave a laugh in response, but there was little merriment in hunger and it faded rather quickly as he nibbled at the small patch of soggy grass his brother had found. Of all his siblings, Notch was the one he tended to favor - though he still loved the others dearly.
"I'm a bit tired of tag... And bobstones." He added the last bit after a moment's thought. Much of the winter had been spent in the runs and he thought he'd go mad if he heard one more tale of the down's forefathers or played another game of bobstones. Exploring sounded perfect.
"We blend in pretty darn okay, yeah? Why not go for a bit of a stretch and see the outskirts?" Maybe further, but he didn't voice that thought.

Notch twitched his whiskers with pleasure as they both tucked in, happy to have a little something and to be able to share it. He shuffled his paw after nibbling for a short while, to see if he could uncover a bit more. Not much more, but there was a good-sized patch. He kept his ears perked, should anyone approach, rather hoping that no one did.
"Me too." His agreement came quickly, and he stopped eating for a moment to groom compulsively at his face, his whiskers tickled by the chilly air and damp snow. He was tired of the games too, and even more eager to see spring arrive. They'd been born in winter, after all. It would be the first time they would see the Down and the surrounding land without a blanket of white. Everyone talked about it, and he wished it would come soon.
A big grin cracked across his face when Drift gave his consent. A laugh left him, and he sat up to take a look around. "We sure do! I don't think it would do any harm, there's nothing about that can get at us." he said confidently. Nothing for the moment, anyway, and with the wide open space they would surely see any danger before it became a huge problem. He took one more nibble at the grass before hopping over the exposed divot, his ears perked as he peered down the slope. "Shall we?" He smiled back at his brother. He was unaware of the eyes watching the both of them, the outsider's pelt doing just the job it was supposed to in hiding him so well.

"I'll race you to the bottom!"
That grin and laugh were all Drift needed to spur him onwards. Ever competitive, the white and gray buck challenged his brother with a wry grin. He paused only to do a quick elil check, his eyes and ears on the sky and surrounding hillside, but he saw nothing that indicated that they would be in any danger. Satisfied, he stretched his long limbs and began a rather hasty descent.
Given they were stil rather young and that this time of year was particularly harsh, Drift hadn't been too far from their birth burrow. It frustrated him to no end that they were constantly surrounded by cold and hunger and while he'd played outside somewhat, it wasn't enough to have a real firm grasp on what lay outside just yet. Due to this, he nearly pitched forward and only just managed to catch himself - else gravity would have taken him completely down the hill's side.

Yona watched one of small rabbits run headlong downhill. It was even smaller than he'd first thought; probably an outskirter. He lay still a moment, considering his options. If outskirters were to go missing, then it was bound to cause trouble with the warren on the hill. Or would it? Outskirters stayed closer to the edge of the warren and knew less about elil. Perhaps they'd be assumed dead.
And an outskirter would be easier to convince than an adult...
He'd just have to be careful not to scare them off. Or make it look like he was stalking them. Thinking quickly, he pawed at the earth as if he was looking for roots to eat before stopping and raising his head, acting as if seeing an outskirter running down the hill had caught him by surprise.
