It had been some time since Dive's hooves had last been on the sand of the beach and he had not yet ceased to miss it and yearn for the lick of salty wind against his face or a singing companion to swim with him in the waters that gifted him with grace. It was different here in true swampland where it was still incredibly wet, but it held none of the pure, concentrated exhilaration of the ocean. It was strange how easily the beach had become his home, the place where his heart belonged, but it shouldn't have surprised him, not when his first memory, his naming dream, had featured a vast expanse of glittering blue water. It was unfortunate that he was only a visitor and visitors couldn't stay indefinitely, so he had left with Shanty singing her farewell affectionately and now he was here.
He was smiling, more cheerful than could be expected from one who was experiencing the depth of yearning that had overtaken him, yet, it was his nature, developed after the accident that led to his crippled legs, to be ever optimistic. His face was not made for melancholy, so he smiled as he hobbled over roots, painstakingly careful as he stretched his legs slowly, strangely to creep forward in his journey. With the memory of Shanty on his mind, he raised his rich voice to the wind:
"Songbirds floating on air Flitting and gliding, ever fair Bright voices sending invitation Bringing feathered kin to their location
Joining together in sprightly dance Some dared to settled on the ground to prance Others still dared to water meet Touching waves with each wing beat
These ones saw the glitter of treasures below With some deciding to attain it steady slow But they failed only to watch those faster Take the treasure and become its master
These treasures struggled, twisting in vain, Until it was still and simple treasure again. Laid on the land, it did nothing by stay So the water birds simply flew away
Again and again they snatched up their prize Until nothing but treasures filled their eyes Only then did they settled down on land Not to dance but to eat their feast on the sand
Their fellow kin asked them to share And of course they obliged, it was only fair And so all the songbirds feasted that night From settling dusk to dawn's first light."phoenix kiss Thank you so much, phoe! ♥♥♥

Something is following Dive. Two somethings, from the sound of it, their paws moving softly through the wet muck: Longstride, in his eaglehound shape, is following after the acha, listening to him sing. At his side is a lean-looking blue-gray wolf follows, ears pricked and eyes alight. Some might be worried at being followed by two such creatures, but there is no malice in the eaglehound's gaze, and the wolf merely looks interested, not hungry. When the acha stops to rest, or stops to consider how to pick his way around a huge cypress knee, the eaglehound will dart around and leap up onto the root, looking down at him with brilliantly-glowing blue eyes. The hound's tail wags with a rattle of feathers; a moment later the wolf reappears, watching. Nice song. Been on the beach lately? The hound's voice seems to come .. well, from the vicinity of the hound, but -- eaglehounds don't talk. Amorpheous Sorry it took so long; normally Longstride's eager for RP!

Dive had been too busy singing to notice that he was being followed, which really might be something he would want to improve given that his abilities to escape hostile entities was greatly diminished. However, as it was, Dive simply wasn't the type to assume danger or despair; kindness and happiness was much too engrained in him for that.
That didn't keep him from being surprised when an eaglehound suddenly appeared before him and- a wolf. That was certainly not a creature he had seen before, though he had heard descriptions of them. They were imposing creatures, but no less imposing than the glowing eyed eaglehound next to it.
And then the voice! If Dive's legs where in full working order, he would have jumped in surprise, but, alas, his legs were not so springy and he merely stiffened in surprised. He almost started to answer in his mind (because if one was going to hallucinate, you might as well hallucinate cheerfully back) when he realized that he was trying to talk to an eaglehound, but then the connection came. This was no ordinary eaglehound; no, this was one like Bitterleaf was one. And with that, Dive dipped his head down into a low bow though he couldn't bend his legs to match the intent. "I have. It's an honor, though I'm not sure I've done anything recently to warrant it."phoenix kiss Don't worry about it! Thanks so much for agreeing to bless them! ♥♥♥

The eaglehound regards the acha for a moment, taking this time to let its tongue loll out of its mouth. It sits down as companionably as if they've known one another for months, years: and because Longstride cannot fit on this root in his other shape, not at least without falling off of it. It snorts. The sound is odd coming from an eaglehound, whose mouth isn't quite equipped to make such an noise. Pah, you might not have, but you were close to the beach and I was bored. And that sounds like one of Shanty's songs.

Dive watches with some awe and some amusement, which is his default position on all things, better to be amused and happy than anything else. He smiles at the legendary as is his nature to smile at all kin, even those who are currently eaglehounds lolling their tongue out at him. "Ah, well, you were right, and you know Shanty?"
The acha smiles differently as he says the doe's name, not sentimental necessarily, more a touch mischievous and playful just like his relationship with Shanty. "It would figure since singing was what led us to meet."phoenix kiss Ahaha, I love Longstride. And someone needs to stop me from abusing commas so much.
