Read and research the book, or slack off and do nothing for an hour. The choice is yours.

He'd only had a minute to stare at the two that walked over before the teacher essentially ushered them to another room and shoved a book at them. Though, burning things aside, it was obvious of one thing.
This new demon knew. It showed on his face and quiet tone as he chimed in. And the look that he'd given Makoto. That too. Which brought forth a brief glance at Maddy from the Isukun before he sighed and wandered to the desk in their room with the book. He could at least get this much finished up perhaps. So long as he was permitted to.
A brief glance to Makoto to ensure he wasn't going to disapprove of him attempting to fulfill the purpose of them being sent to this room and he wandered over to sit down. Obviously, this was going to be... a strange hour.
Who locks four people in a room with a crazy Inugami? That's just cruel.

And now, they were locked in a little room - five boys and a book, with chairs that didn't look as sturdy or supportive for someone who sometimes seeped magma. He would . . . stand.
"Someone's going to have to hold the book if I'm to assist in reading it." He stated, clearing his throat, he willingly brought Xavier to a seat at least, eyebrows raising a bit as he pointed to the book a little witheredly. "I'm worried I'd accidentally burn a hole through it or set it on fire. I'm used to electronic books." He admitted, before looking at the other three in the room.
"Eldrid, by the way, that's my name." He offered, before crossing his arms lightly over his chest, hoping to get this done as soon as possible.

From the depths of the book it could hear them, faintly at first, but more clearly as it rose. They were talking. Making introductions. The slime monster gurgled up out of the pages in front of them, its tail whipping at Eldrid as it crouched in front of the furnace dog.
It tried to say, "Hi, I'm Horace!", but it came out more like an angry burble.slime monster from here don't sue me bro

The room was rather small, and as he glanced round Maddy found he recognized everyone in the room except for the ... lava dog?? ...
Ah, so Eldrid was his name. "My name is Maddox, Maddy for short," he responded with a light tip of his ... ahhh right. He cast a glance to Molan, and quickly locked his fingers to the small of his back, to ensure he wouldn't do that again.
Instead the cait sith stepped across to the table, eyeing the book just before Molan opened it. Slime Monsters?? ... His nose crinkled slightly. Not his most favorite subject. But a moment later a great groan came from the book's direction, and his fur bristled at the sight of the creature that appeared.
Jack no. Not one of them! The cat's silvery eyes narrowed on the creature, and without a second thought he lifted one of the chairs, tossing it toward's the slime's head. No way in Hades was he dirtying his hands with all that goo.
Maddy's HP: 30/30

Damage: 1 (at least it hit)

Makoto, who had been corralled into said room and forced to sit through all of the tedious talking, was nearly fraying at the tips of sanity by the time the monster popped up. If this could get any worse, he would honest to Jack be surprised.
"Well." Makoto said in a strangely cheerful tone, his hands tucked between the thick folds of his robe sleeves. "That was unexpected." But by the way he was smiling, it seemed as though he was going to go on a mass murdering spree if some of that slime even so much as touched any of his clothes.
And then someone was throwing a chair and - hey look, his servant was there! The other (Elenore? Elena? El Dorado? El-something?) dog was heeded with little interest in light of the gigantic slimeball currently invading their very tiny study space.
"Yes, very effective." Makoto drawled in amusement at the cat as the chair stuck to one of the gooey bubbles of slime pouring from the body and seemed to sink into it. "Maybe you should try throwing the crow next time."
Nevertheless, Makoto flicked a pencil rather noncommittally at the things eye. There was, after all, no way he was touching it with his own two hands.

That... might have been an amused look that crossed his face as he watched Maddy attempt to reach for the hat after introducing himself to the dog that appeared to be... rather on fire. Or well burning. Regardless, Molan had chosen the seat furthest from Eldrid, staring at him a bit as he babbled about the book. "I..." He paused, shaking his head a bit. "I am fully capable of reading it and summarizing." He stated, not all that keen to introduce him to things that were clearly of the 'warm' variety. Still, Maddy had done so, so he felt obligated, merely nodding a bit. "I'm Molan." Simple enough.
He went to open the book at that point, intending to read when an odd noise sounded from the book at that point.He stumbled back a few paces, knocking a chair along with him as ooze seemed to emit itself from the book and the thing...
And yes. It was a thing.
But it literally crawled out of the book. Seemingly a mixture several creatures gurgling it's existence out as it slopped off of the desk and into something of an oozing puddle of a thing on the floor. Four hears, legs, a tail and...
Ew. Just ew. It was making an utter and absolute mess.
He didn't have much time to concern himself with the mess it was making before a chair came flying from behind him at the thing. A quick look proved it was Maddy's idea, who seemed to share an equal look of disgust for the thing. Honestly, it would stain anything it touched, ruining it. Ick. He backed up a bit more as a pencil went flying along with some insults. Clearly, that show of brilliance was Makoto. And it was probably a good thing the dog couldn't see his face(he was still backing up after all ewewewewewewew) as he attempted to conjure up some ice before flinging whatever bits he managed to form into a small shard and sending it at the thing.
Ah the one good thing about being of an element. Sure, you had things you hated (WHY WAS EVERYONE ON FIRE?), but you also had a long range way to try and kill things. Which meant saving your nice fashionable clothes. Maddy would have appreciated his thought pattern at least. "Books... books should not be covered in slime beasts and this is too small a room for this." He always did babble a bit when he was nervous.

It wasn't so much that Eldrid was attacking the creature that came out of the book, it was more like he was trying to get the bugger back, having been whip-lashed from the slimy gloop of dear-jack-WHAT.

Horace waited patiently for Eldrid to reply, several globby bits of his underbelly dripping to the floor. He opened his beakier skull in a happy grin, but it probably looked more like he was trying to eat the boil's head than encourage him.
And what was up with that chair, man, really?
The slime monster reared up with a surprised yell, swiping one of its gooey paws at Maddy.

Deciding that the pencil had not done as much as he'd hoped, Makoto picked up the nearest object and threw it at Horace.
Unfortunately, the nearest object happened to be Xavier.

"Well of course they're all going to have summons, it's obvious at this point-eeeeeeeeeeeee.." Selene's agitated little chat with Ren was interrupted when she saw just what this room had summoned - it made her cringe with distaste. Once more, Ren carried her into the room. She squirmed out of his arms and managed to hobble her way over to the book that had summoned the great beast. "Your last lesson for today, scarelings, is very simple, and I hope you will remember it. If you accidentally manage to summon a monster from a book, and you can't fight it..?" Her hand slid under the cover of the book, flicked it up, and slammed it shut. "Close the book."She crawled back up into Ren's arms and was transported off to the other rooms after the monster popped out of existence. "Class dismissed." Quote: Class is over for you now! Ok, it apparently wasn't dead. Well nothing was that simple. It'd even taken a swipe at Maddy and missed thankfully. Clothes left intact at least. And then he watched something rather odd. Makoto had just... he just... he was left a bit flabbergasted at the sight of the student being thrown at the beast. And made a note not to get ANYWHERE near Makoto until this class finished.
Which was far sooner than he'd expected. He heard the door open and stared a bit dismayed as the teacher hobbled into the room and seemed to ignore the thing. And then she even touched the slightly goo covered book to close it as she spoke. Though it was effective in getting rid of the beast. Well at least that was good to know...
And then they were dismissed, it seemed. Well... it was good not to have to fight the thing anymore as he let his hand fall from another attempt to summon ice up, but... well.
He didn't want to stay in the room really, so edged a bit back as he eyed Maddy, obviously reaching to hand back the hat he'd been borrowing since they were to head off. Even the teacher was gone already. "That... was far from normal." He wasn't even trying to mask the annoyance in his voice at this point.
((Ignore roll for damage. I posted just after Nio and didn't realize we were sorta done. XD ))

No sooner had Makoto managed to fling a pencil, and Xavier, at the creature, than it was slinging a gooey paw towards him.
Nope. Not happening. Maddy ducked, grabbing another chair by the legs as he hefted it in front of him.
Then Professor Selene entered the room. It was almost laughable how she stepped forward and simply, closed the book.
... Just, close the book?? ... Maddy dropped the second chair to the floor, feeling for all the room the village idiot. "That's all?? ..."
At least that was over. Oh and look, the crow was on the floor again.
He nodded in agreement with Molan's statement, and gestured back with a hand as the isukun offered him his hat, pausing only long enough to retrieve his skull pin. "You can keep it. I always make a spare, just in case." And if monsters popping from books were the normal here, he had the feeling he'd be making many more spares soon. "That was ... indeed something."
The cait sith cast silver eyes to each person in the room. "It's been a pleasure, but I ... ah, now have a hat to fetch." He tugged again at an invisible cap, the faintest trace of a smile curling his lips. And with the click of heels the boil was off.

O, o Jack, did Maddy seriously throw Xavier?
Giving a great sigh when the book was closed and class was 'completed', Eldrid decided that it was best to pick up the poor Bird Demon, because known Xavier, he would just mope and woe about this sudden change of events.
"Come now, Xavier, let's see about getting this . . . gloop . . off you." He murmured to the Raum as he picked him up. Eldrid was starting to think that his job in school was carrying Xavier around. What s strange turn of events.
