An entire row of small study rooms line the wall of the library.
Your group has been shuffled into one of them, with a copy of the book: The Monster Inside Me

Read and research the book, or slack off and do nothing for an hour. The choice is yours.

Efflo drifted in, grumpy. He slumped into one of the chairs furthest from the door, glancing at the title of the book. ‘The Monster Inside Me’? The undead sighed, there certainly was a monster inside of him, but it certainly wasn’t his horsey self, which he still hadn’t been allowed to change into. He had thought a class about natural forms might involve more than reading… Reading he could do on his own. In fact, it was something he really preferred to do on his own.

The boil sullenly slouched even lower in his seat, waiting for everyone else to settle in.

Okay, now she was picking up on some tension. At least between Frost and the (now that she knew what he was) Horsemen. New Horsmen seemed to be glossing it over and trying to move on the subject but Olivia was actually a little curious what Frost had meant about revenge. For what happened to the Islands or something else? She didn't get to ask, and really some part of her figured it wasn't the best thing to.

They were moving on, subject wise and even literally as they were showed study rooms to read the book - they didn't get to pick it seemed and Olivia was really hoping Mia would be able to find the thinnest book with the largest text or maybe one that had a lot of pictures (was there a scareling section? that would be great).

Olivia sat down, across from Efflo on one of the far sides of the table and looked at the book. It wasn't that thin ... and it had a very interesting title. She didn't touch it though and kept her hands on the table instead, interlaced with one another and her eyes on the book.

Yes. This was going to be interesting.

Mia didn't get a chance to respond to the horsemen as they were ushered into one of the study rooms by the professor... was now being carried around like a scareling.
Was was even...

The good thing about being put into a study room was that she was now away from the other noisy students and could concentrate on studying. The bad thing was she was now stuck in a room with that undead boil and... horseman, so it seemed.

At least, they didn't have to worry about getting a book, as it seemed there was already one on the table.

Grabbing a seat beside Olivia, she reached out and flipped the book open, already pouring over the contents.

Bristling at the fact they had a horseman in their midst, Frost thought about the repercussions to causing a scene. Detention was not a thing he would have liked, and getting others hurt for his own distrust was not helpful nor progressive to the goal at hand.

Snorting and shaking his head, (tail fluffing out from the shake as well), Frost leaned over Mia to look at the book's contents. "Should we work in silence and try to cram together to read the same page... or would it be better that we each take turns reading passages?"

As the students flipped through the book, some twist of fate dictated that they lingered on one page just long enough so set something free. It pulled itself from the page with the wet, sick sound of soggy flesh and stretched its jaws wide, mouth closing with a snap.

When all of its body was tangible, it shook itself, which might not have been so terrible had the monster been almost anything else.

It looked like a dog.

Well, the inside of a dog.

Without another moment of hesitation, the creature lunged at Frost, teeth bared.

He trailed behind these scarelings he'd found himself lumped in with, spine straight and arms still crossed. Mmur was wary now in a way he didn't much care for. The way they looked at him... it made him anxious.

On some level, the horseman knew he didn't have the subtlety for recruitment; he'd always left that up to the sages, priestesses and nobles, only bringing the students who approached him directly to Medea for initiating. He found it far more effective (and fun) to be friendly. To make friends. He was good at that. What had this boil seen to make him so disdainful toward their cause? They would all need to be more careful.

Mmur almost sighed with relief when they turned their attention to the book, but his respite from tension was short-lived. Something was growing out of the tome they'd been given. It was a lovely Something to be sure, but when it struck the angry pale boil, Mmur knew it wasn't a particularly friendly one.

Without a word, he summoned his segmented whip and lashed out at the creature. He had been trained to defend and he would do so, even if the ones he was defending didn't like him very much.

Efflo stirred from his melancholy cloud only when the bizarre inside-out dog rose from the pages. Perfect, he thought. It was either going to be an excellent way to relieve some stress, or at best, a way to get out of this stupid room and this stupid group work; even if it was in pieces. The horsemen was the first to attack, and Efflo was impressed. Defending them even after Frost's outburst? Cooooooool. *___*

He looked around hastily, there was no way he could transform in such a small space... And even with his natural ability, who knew if it was possible here, with that pesky skull pin. He cursed as he lunged at the thing; he hated fighting on two legs.

...He wasn't very good at it either, and the undead boil was easily knocked back without doing a single scratch.

Olivia had been intently as Mia took the initiative to open the book and start them on their work, now nice of her. Honestly, she wouldn't have minded either of Frost's ideas about how to handle the workload (though, this many creeple around one book would be troublesome, and she was a terribly slow reader).

It didn't matter though, once the very muscled dog jumped out of the book. Olivia's eyes went wide and she shot back out of impulse. "It came out of the book." She said, obviously so even in the heat of the moment. And it attacked Frost!

After being momentarily also awestruck by the Horsemen and his cool moves, (Why Frost didn't like him would remain a mystery, she thought they were neat) Olivia moved in after Efflo and tried her own hand at attacking the creature.

Only, to completely miss. Olivia stumbled past the creature, overshooting him from her attempt to tackle it to the ground. Whoops.

Engrossed with the pictures and descriptions in the book, Mia hadn't noticed that Frost was leaning over her shoulder until he spoke out, startling her. Her head shot up, nearly crashing into the Wolfos.

"I-I think taking turns would be a good idea..." she mumbled.
Not that... she minded being in close proximity with Frost and... maybe Olivia (considering she was already sitting next to the Wight), but the idea of either of the other two boils leaning over her made her shudder.

She took the book, prepared to push it to the center of the table when she noticed something peculiar. Did that picture just...

As the inside-out dog peeled itself out of the page and lunged at Frost, Mia let out a shriek that would have put a screaming scareling to shame.

The attacks didn't seem to bother the creature, not breaking its focus on the students one iota. It sniffed the air and turned towards the screaming ghoul, maw twisting into an ominous semblance of a smirk.

Its attention shifted, swiping at her with elongated claws.

Valiant ideas of saving Miasma from harm crossed his mind even though the ghoul had made apparent her distaste. He wasnt blind, but he also wasnt a total douche either, surprisingly enough. Instead of heroically leaping into battle however, the boil found himself still crumpled on the floor; useless.

Mmur held back, waiting for a good moment to strike again. He tried to follow Efflo, using the brightly-colored boil as a distraction, but he couldn't whip the growly, muscley dog thing quickly enough to deliver more than a glancing blow.

"Mia!" Olivia cried out, not in the least pleased that someone she knew even a little more was now the target of the very weird dog. Her hand grabbed onto the table in an instant to turn herself around, to throw herself back in the fray in her very raw and not in any way decent fighting ability. But a friend was in trouble! And that was not good! (She was kind of tempted to pick up a chair but they looked a little too heavy for her).

Like before, she attacked after the other two boils, launching herself forward in hopes to hit it this time. It wasn't a huge blow, but as she passed the creature again she managed to at least land a small hit.

"No, no, no!" Selene opened the door, by now half-expecting the monster. She was going to have such a talk with Avery when this was all over..

Once more, Ren carried her into the room. She squirmed out of his arms and managed to hobble her way over to the book that had summoned the great beast.

"Your last lesson for today, scarelings, is very simple, and I hope you will remember it. If you accidentally manage to summon a monster from a book, and you can't fight it..?"

Her hand slid under the cover of the book, flicked it up, and slammed it shut.

"Close the book."

She crawled back up into Ren's arms and was transported off to the other rooms after the monster popped out of existence. "Class dismissed."
