Bracken-rah had told the lot to leave, but would they? It was the middle of winter and the forest below the down offered the best cover for quite a ways and though the down rabbits had been stripping it of flay, surely there was more there. He couldn't see any reason why the hlessi would up and leave unless they were forced to. The tawny buck mused over this as he traced the down's runs. Though he disliked the snow, he would soon be up and in it. He'd been forced to sit out of his watches until recently and he felt as though he had much to make up for, despite having promised both Dogsbane and Alderberry that he would take it easy until the throbbing in his sides had mostly subsided. He was no use to anyone dead, after all, and the Black Rabbit and Frith had spared him thus far.
Patrol partners were both few and far between at the moment, but he wasn't sure it was best he go out on his own at the moment and that was what had him settling just outside of Pepper's burrow.
He didn't know the new recruit well, but he didn't want to patrol with his sister and the silver buck seemed as good as any. Perhaps they could bond a bit - or at least he could get to know the newest owsla somewhat.
"Pepper, are you in?"
