It was on chilly nights that Esquiline found she was most thankful for her layers of her outfit. Not only were they a pleasing mixture of orange, yellow and white, they were quite warm and fought the freezing air well. The only place she found herself cold was her head, and she briefly wondered if wearing a hat would be prudent. She could even find one that matched beautifully.
Though it would cover up her hairpin....and wasn't that supposed to be her weapon?
A hair pin. Who ever thought of such a ridiculous thing for defense? She reached her gloved hand to feel the small metal object sticking out just above her left pigtail. Why, one hit and it would break!
She sighed, clicking down the pathway through the park. It was a quiet night, one that she wished she could have spent indoors with her books.

Caelian heard the clicking almost before she felt the aura coming towards her. She paused, frowning just slightly, though relaxed almost instantly when she realized it wasn’t someone who would bring her…well. It wasn’t someone of the chaos variety.
She waited for whoever it was to come into view, standing and shivering right where she was. “Oh!” It was the Venus knight from that room so long ago…what had her name been? E…E something, perhaps. They had seen one another at the meeting that had turned into an ambush as well…but they had never really gotten the chance to talk outside of all of that.
This was wonderful! She did love meeting other Venus knights. So far as she knew, it was only the three of them…Pink haired E girl, herself and Aventine…but that was okay. Even if they were the only Venus knights around…they sure were the most stylish as well!
“Hello there! It’s been a long time! How have you been?” She hoped the other woman remembered her.

Esquiline heard a sound from ahead of her, and forestalled her musings to see who it was. Her brain clicked to attention as she recognized the person in front of her, though only vaguely.
She was the other Venus knight that had been in the room with the fireplace..the one where all the Knights had gathered and somehow, unlocked a power within. Though she couldn't use whatever her power was, she felt it just out of reach in her mind. She had spent days afterwards going over her adventure in her mind until she thought that she might crack.
When she was offered a greeting, Esquiline picked up her pace, jogging to where the other woman stood. "Hello again!" she said, hoping that she remembered Esquiline just a vaguely as Esquiline remembered her.
"I've been well." she said, coming to a halt. "Just..patrolling. And trying to have a life outside of said patrolling." She offered a smile to the other knight. "How have you been? Not transported into other strange rooms I hope?"

Caelian nodded. “I hear you on that. It seems that my life has become all about patrolling, and working of course, but…well, you know.” She couldn’t get the smile off of her face, and resisted the urge to hug the other Venus knight. She couldn’t pinpoint why, but she just…felt a very positive connection towards her. But really, that could have just been her being overly excited.
“I haven’t been transported anywhere against my will anytime lately, no.” She laughed, then finally gave in to the urge and hugged Esquiline tightly. “I am so glad to see you, we should patrol together more often. We Venus girls have to stick together, after all.”
She pulled away from the hug and gave a rather guilty little look. “No, even after saying all that…would you mind terribly if I asked you to tell me your name once more? I know it…it starts with an E, right? Please tell me I’m right about that…”
She felt like such a schmuk. Here she was, hugging this girl, telling her how happy that she was to see her, and she didn’t even know her name. What a great friend she was.

Caelian's smile was infectious, and Esquiline found herself grinning back at the other woman. She sounded like she understood what the pink haired girl was going through, and it was always a relief to be among comrades.
She returned the hug with gusto. Hugs were great! and laughed when she failed to remember her name.
"You're right." she said after her laughter stopped. "It does start with an E! My name is Esquiline. Which I found out recently is a hill on Venus!" The trip to her Wonder had been insane and stressful, but she found a ring that she somehow knew was hers.
"If it helps, I have forgotten your name as well." she said sheepishly.Orangeish Sherbert I'm reviving Esquiline! Hooray!

Well, that was a relief, if anything. “Caelian, my name is Caelian, squire of Venus…it’s been a long time, so that’s good at least, if we’ve both forgotten, neither of us can be upset!” It seemed like a pretty logical progression…they weren’t going to both be angry, right? That would just be silly.
She grinned and shook her head. “Esquline, we need to catch up sometime, we really do…I want to know as many Venus knights as I possibly can, I know this sounds a little strange, but maybe it’s because we’re both Venus knights or both…so frilly, but I feel a connection to you, like the connection I feel with Aventine…I’ll have to look up our names, maybe we could have been friends or something in the past, anything is possible, right?”
Caelian seemed thoughtful, then grinned again. “So, I think I should be getting home, but we’ll have to meet again, and next time I won’t forget your name…maybe we can even visit Caelian when we meet again, that might be pretty fun!”
The squire waved and took a step away, though paused, hugging Esquline tightly once again. “Stay safe, please.”
Then she was gone, heading home to her daughter and all things familiar. She wondered if she would ever really get used to all of this powered nonsense. Maybe, but she figured it was much more likely to be a maybe not.
Oh well.

Esquiline, nodded, noting that she too had frills and silly thing attached to her outfit. Maybe it was a sign of Venus to be decked out like a lady of the court. Though their colors didn't match...perhaps color had nothing to do with it...
There were still so many questions she had.
"I'll do some research as well." she said. She had wanted to learn more about her hill, and the others that she saw in the distance. Maybe Caelian was one of them! She hoped so; it would be nice to have someone with something in common with her.
After the hug, she waved, saying "You be safe too! I promise I won't forget your name next time!" But her words brought more questions. Could they take others to their Wonders? How was that possible?
So many questions, so little time.
