Alright. 'Wash Zellie'
That was an easy enough task, right? Now, what a 'Zellie' was, Mei had absolutely no idea. Her best guess was a fire lizard, or a canine. Either way, there was someone who was willing to pay to have someone help in the washing of said 'Zellie', and Mei made sure that those marks would be hers.
Stalking the 'to do' board was a bit of a pastime for Mei anyhow, her eagerness to make a few marks making her a touch notorious around the candidates barracks. What most of those candidates didn't know though, is that the majority of those marks were still being sent home to her parents to care for a plethora of children. On route to becoming a dragon rider and still Mei was thinking about family.
Dragonrider.. that still didn't really sit well with her. When her parents had found out she had been searched, there was no rejecting it. There hadn't been a rider in the family for at least two generations, and her household was not going to pass up such an honor… even if their daughter was absolutely terrified of the huge beasts.
The young woman's stomach churned uneasily at the thought, settling it by chewing on one of the meat rolls she'd gotten from the kitchen and stuck in her apron. Whatever she was watching, she was sure it was probably carnivorous. If it were a fire lizard she'd definitely want to get into it's good graces through none other than it's stomach. Ohoho, Mei, you think of everything! She tittered to herself, issuing a mental pat on the back for her resourcefulness as she pulled the small patch of hide with the specifics of the job written onto it. The directions said to meet some 'Trel' person by the lake. Trel… what a name, and it was smudged a bit by an errant thumbprint. (A thumb print which had conveniently swiped away the honorific apostrophe from between the T and the R.)
Well, she was here now.. Mei frowned and flicked an errant curtain of frizzed hair from her face, the lake's winds playing across it and swirling her mottled green skirts about her ankles. She frowned and looked around, trying to catch sight of this 'Trel' individual. Figures that she'd be early..

"You're Mei, aren't you?" T'rel could find a pretty girl in any crowd, and--as fortune would have it, there wasn't one. It seemed not many had been interested in helping him with Zelith--but he couldn't blame them! Zellie was one of the largest bronzes in the Weyr. "One of the more recent candidates. I recognize you." He paused, and, flashing a grin at the candidate said, "Since I know who you are, I'll introduce myself. I'm T'rel. Weyrlingmaster here--" he winked. "Maybe you'll Impress in the next clutch and have to deal with me."
He gave another pause, eyes glazing over for a moment as he gazed off into the distance. "Right," he said. "Zellie wants me to introduce him properly." He gestured behind him, moving so the candidate could have a better view of his bronze. "Zelith," he introduced the dragon with a smile. "He's a bit too large for me to wash him by myself," he said. "I usually have the firelizards help, but--" he shrugged, glancing over his shoulder as if to see if the firelizards in question had appeared.
"They've been sleeping all day," he complained. "I think they're faking."

The sudden voice made her turn rather quickly, more in response to her name than being caught off guard. "Yes." Her clipped response did not seem entirely friendly as she acknowledged him, her dark eyes traveling up and down his form, though her gaze would give nothing away of what she thought of him as a passive merchant's mask plastered itself onto her features.
"T'rel.." She murmured by way of greeting as he introduced himself, her tongue flicking the honorific of his name with emphasis as she digested this information. Rider… dragon rider and Weyrlingmaster. His wink earned him a passive stare, her nearly black eyes alight with thought as she worked her head around just what he was telling her.
"Zellie. Is a dragon." Her statement sounded somewhat disbelieving as she followed his gesture towards a very, very big dragon. He was a little distance away, but the small woman still had to tilt her head back to see the whole of him. Her skin rather obviously blanched, a single sound escaping her lips in a half laughed "Huh.."
The hesitance was something she tried to hide from her face, but it was there as it knitted her brow into a worried crease, eyes wide and staring as she looked back to the blonde haired man who looked far younger than she suspected he actually was. "And uh. I'm going to have to uh.." Her hands made a comical washing motion, suddenly unable to find her words. "And… Oh shells… It's.. safe right? Not going to accidentally roll over in the water and take me under him and slowly crush and drown me at the bottom of the lake by accident?" Her voice quickened to a frantic pace, the last word escaping her mouth in a broken squeak.
Yes. Yes… she looked terrified now.
