After a long journey to this place reminded him of his own home fondly, Emerys had led them quite skillfully to their new herd lands it had been untouched by starborn for so long he had told them, it was a fine place to settle, it seemed so filled with magic... that and there were two dragons on the surrounding borders, one seemed uninterested in the herd the other enjoyed causing trouble and would have to be dealt with when they were established better.
Gawain stood under the trees near the foothills, Sepaia had told Gawain to wait here, as she had gone to grab the herd leader after hearing he had returned finally. The land was bountiful for a herd this size, his own was still very small but held a large area, able so support many more starborn, he he was certain things would work out quite well many other Starborn already flocked to the herd, they would need more knights soon to protect it. The king had devised a better plan though. A clever noble king they had.
Gawain could see the gold stallion approaching finally

Lugh stepped cleanly through the fields of one of the inner valleys of the lands of the Sunflare Herd. Well over a year after news had been reported of a new and more dangerous leader to rule the Shadow Herd, the traditional enemies of the Sunflare Herd, things had been quiet. He heard rumors from distant relations, herd members' own distant kin, and the Order of the Tree that more herds were springing up far beyond his borders. So far, none of them had come into contact with the Sunflare, so Lugh had had no real vested interest in them. However, an emissary from one of the new herds had arrived recently, as Sepaia, Clan Chieftain of the Burning Sun Clan, reported to him. Lugh had been surprised, given that he hadn't seen any representatives of any herd other than the Shadow in such a long time. Llyn Dinas. The name sounded rather interesting, and while Lugh couldn't quite recall what it meant, he thought he'd heard words like that in another language, long ago and far away, in Dreamspace. Oh, well. Now was not the time to dwell on old memories from Dreamspace. The Ard-Righ of the Sunflare Herd finally reached his guest and dipped his head slightly in the proper greeting of a herd leader to an emissary of another herd. "Welcome to the Sunflare Herd, Sir Emissary. I am Lughnasadh, Ard-Righ of the Clans of the Sun," Lugh said formally, giving his proper title, though adding, for clarity, "as we sometimes call our herd. I trust our hospitality has been most pleasant? I take it your herd lives not very far away, since you have been sent to my herd," he asked solicitously. It would not do to leave a bad impression on this stranger, especially since the Sunflare and Llyn Dinas might become allies, or at least trading partners or something. In such cases, it was doubly imperative to be on the best of behavior.

Gawain gave a low bow to the approaching Ard-Righ, "It is my honor to meet you," Gawain stayed low for a moment out of respect of the older leader, Arch had told him as much as he knew about the herd, though it's age was something that impressed him the most, the herd was the oldest of the three largest herds in this world.
"Your and your champion's hospitality has been most pleasant." the stallion spoke sincerely rising only after the formalities, he had to make sure he didn't represent his herd poorly. "I expect your champion told you of me, I am Sir Gawain of Llyn Dinas," He gave a gracious bow again after introducing himself. he was here for a specific reason after all, he had to make sure this treaty went well.
Gawain gave a light nod "Not so far yet far enough," Gawain replied it had been a long enough journey "but for my king I would traverse the world." it was a whole heatedly true statement and from what he'd seen of this herd they and his own were not so different. He hoped this would go well, the young king had such grand plans for uniting all the herds. Gawain stood in silence for a moment, both a coronation ceremony a formality and tournaments in the spirit of the alliances.
"If I may Ard-Righ, my king sends me as his messenger he wishes an alliance." might as well as politely as possible get the negotiations going as quickly as possible.

Lugh inclined his head in response to the graceful bow and had to smile as the younger stallion mistook Sepaia's rank. "I think you'll find that the Star who noticed and escorted you to me, as well as reported your presence to me, is none other than Sepaia, Chieftain of the Burning Sun Clan of the Sunflare Herd. She is a champion, indeed my greatest and most trusted, but she is also of greater standing than even the greatest champion after her," he added as a gentle reproach.
"I am, however, glad that you approve of our hospitality. We value hospitality toward visitors to our herd. It is a pleasure to meet you, Sir Gawain of Llyn Dinas," he said formally, completing the greetings and introductions that marked the beginnings of their talks.
"I am interested in an alliance. There is trouble on my own borders with the Shadow Herd, though they are not yet strong enough to make an attack. There are, however, whispers of other evils and dangerous herds to beware of. In light of that, an alliance would be a good thing. However, the question remains: How may herds possibly very wide-flung from each other consummate such an alliance? Have you any ideas or suggestions, Sir Gawain? I am open to ideas," he said. There were many ways to pursue an alliance, and so far, Lugh was inclined to like this stranger and his loyalty to his king. It was a good omen that Lugh hoped would hold.

Posted late July/early August 2013 in the guild in exile. Ice_Dragon_Demon Gawain new his error he had not realized in how high esteem the leader of this herd held his best warrior, he had been foolish, though he did not believe he disrespected her any but... He hoped it would not put any strain on the negotiations he could not fail the young king. "I apologize I fear I may not have given her as much respect as she deserved." he bowed again respectfully and apologetically. "If I am able I will right such a wrong." The stallion waited respectfully for Lugh to finish, listening intently, he too had similar ideas it seemed, but the threat of attack seemed to have kept him from sending out messengers to the other herds. But The Ard-Righ was interested still in such an alliance that was hopeful, and it too was a good thing His King had told him of his plans if such things worked out. "My King is trying to find that out, he is on good terms with some of the herds farthest away." he assured "He has a grand vision and suggests a great tournament in which warriors from every herd come compete and entertain the herd members of those who wish to travel there. Leaders would perhaps if they can come and share information and renew the great alliance." Gawain paused "Perhaps If I may too suggest, the tournament can switch herds after it's completion every year instead of being stationary." Lugh smiled and laughed slightly, a warm, friendly sound. "I'm sure you meant no disrespect, and did no disrespect, either. While the Sunflare stands by hospitality, we do not always stand on grandiose ceremony. It would be quite polite to tender an apology, if you would like; our herd can seem a little odd, but the clan system we operate under works well enough for us, even if it confuses strangers." He paused to briefly mull over the young knight's words. "A tournament, eh? It has been quite a while since I last saw, heard of, or participated in any sort of friendly competition in feats of strength and speed and skill. Certainly, not since before the Great Starfall began, and I was one of the first to Fall," he said absently. "Quite intriguing, and quite an idea with some interesting possibilities. I vaguely recall that some in Dreamspace brought unmated kinfolk, friends, and herdmates to such events, and sometimes, love or other arrangements, of lifemating, of fostering, of visiting, used to also be brought up around such times. Perhaps we may again see such things, but, regardless, that is quite certainly a nice idea. Has your king considered some of the logistics and scheduling? I recall that they could be quite a great deal of work to plan, though I was yet a bit young when I Fell to host any myself. I will offer participation and aid as necessary and as asked for, provided, of course, that the Sunflare is not under attack. Does this seem reasonable to you, Sir Gawain?"

"Assuredly I will tender such an apology." The stallion confirmed, the knight paused and listened politely as the great leader spoke. Gawain only gave the stallion a confirmation nod at first when he mentioned the tournament. before Gawain spoke again he made sure the other stallion had finished. Things were looking promising, The stallion would be happy to return the great news to the King.
Raising his brow the stallion was interested to learn that this herd leader was one of the first to fall. Gawain Nodded "Ard-Righ, my King has," he confirmed "he is waiting for news from the other herds were as to work around their religious ceremonies should they have any and be unable to attend."
Bowing the knight nodded "It does Ard-Righ," Gawain had been around long enough to know who it was that always attacked the Sunflare herd. The Shadow, though he hadn't heard much of them for a long time, they had gone rather silent opposed to anything else. "The Shadow have been eerily silent as of late." Gawain added softly it was a touchy subject for the sunflare as they had suffered many losses as of late the shadow just vanished once more after taking so many "If you require aide do not hesitate to send a messenger to Llyn Dinas." Though they were not the only evil. They were still an evil to plague these lands that Llyn dinas knew of.

Lugh nodded. "Well, we celebrate four times a year, generally, roughly halfway between the solstices and equinoxes. Autumn is Samhain, winter is Imbolc, spring is Beltaine, and summer is Lughnasadh, for which I am named. Any time far enough from these times would be good, though I don't think anyone would strongly object to a tournament and festival to be held at Lughnasadh. I'm afraid we mostly treat it as a holiday to mark the passage of time, rather than a real reason, and a tournament and festival would coincide nicely for us, if that's also convenient for others." It was only fair to see when everyone else was free. The mention of the Shadow brought a dark look to his bright emerald eyes. "The Shadow has not been so quiet of late. The mate of my eldest daughter and heiress was killed a moon ago in battle. They had been quiet before, and have resumed their silence, as I have heard that they have many new, very young members. They seem to be going through a population boom, as we are not. We may yet call on you, but for the time being, we have tightened up our guard, though I fear that the tragedy is having far too marked an effect on my youngest descendant, a great-great-granddaughter. I may need to find a place outside the herd that can afford her peace of mind." Lugh did not mention the difficult nature of Aine's life. It would be difficult to explain, and as much as it hurt to look at the poor young mare, it was hard, too, to look away from the heartache of one of his kindred.

Gawain Listened intently making sure to take mental notes. he would have to repeat every word to the young king himself. "My King will be sure to attend yo every herds needs as best he can. Even if it's not always possible he will certainly try his best." Because the young king always did try, despite everything.
"My and the herds Condolences Ard-righ for your losses." The Stallion gave the king a low bow.
He was very solemn now as he spoke "Much of the King's own family in moonlight died as well at their hands as the rumor goes, others have just disappeared without reason or word." yes that was unfortunate news. it may very well be impossible to stop the shadow right now if they continue to grow at an alarming rate. It seemed the Sunflare leader had heard more news lately before they had. Then again Sunflare was much closer.
"We will certainly answer any call with all the haste we can muster." Gawain knew little to nothing of the young princess had sepia mentioned her in passing? Gawain couldn't remember. "I know not the tragedy of the grandchild you speak of though I can see it causes great pain." Gawain however had a thought perhaps it would tie a closer alliance if the king could solve this. Gawain was undoubted that the king would happily bring Lugh's great great grandchild into the herd if it caused her less pain and pain to Lugh's. "if you would like upon my return I could arrange a meeting for you and our young king."

Lugh nodded. "My condolences to the Moonlight as well." Deep down, he worried, running through the list of his kindred mentally to see if he knew of any who might have been in Moonlight with whom he'd lost contact lately. Mercifully, he could think of none. A few over in Dreamer's Glass, a rumor of another starting a herd of her own on some distant volcanic island, Aine's estranged relatives in the Shadow, whom Lugh did NOT want to acknowledge as being of his own flesh and blood.... He shook his head slightly to clear his mind of the darkening thoughts. "Your offers are deeply appreciated, both the aid, and the opportunity to meet with your king. Would your king be terribly offended if I brought my great-great-granddaughter with me when we met, to arrange a possible future for her with Llyn Dinas? I admit to knowing and having heard little of your herd, but, as you seem to be farther away from an active war zone, and seem to be of noble and gracious nature, I think Llyn Dinas would be a happier, more peaceful home for my innocent great-great-granddaughter," he said honestly.

"I will Pass Your condolences to the King" Gawain Promised the great sunflare leader. "The King is keeping close contact with his father who seems to be one of the remaining few holding the herd together it was a terrible blow."
Gawain remained at attention as the other herd leader spoke. Gawain's wings fluttered involuntarily though he silently wished they wouldn't. ""He wouldn't be offended in the least." Lugh seemed to have some sort of reason for this but gawain couldn't quite fathom why. "Llyn Dinas would be honored to have one of your grandchildren among it." There was not much that did offend the young king other. He did his best to keep the peace. Gawain wasn't going to ask why Lugh was sending his granddaughter away It was none of his business. Llyn Dinas was to help those in need and as such He would comply. After all he was here to make alliances.

"It is good to know that your king still has family. I can only imagine the despair he might have felt had all of his kin perished." Lugh remembered Starfall. He didn't dwell on those he'd lost. Honestly, at this point, he'd more or less forgotten them. Sad, but Lugh had worked hard to build the Sunflare around himself, so he hadn't really given himself time to feel that loneliness. First there was his old friend Ash, then Sunniva's mother Vienna, Sunniva herself, Regina, and all of the children, grandchildren, and so on. Frankly, Lugh had trouble keeping track of everyone these days. But it would still hurt if all of them vanished one day. "As for a meeting, would it be appropriate if we made the journey after the festival of Lughnasadh next month? It would be a good time for us to make the journey to Llyn Dinas. We could also discuss plans for the tournament while there." As uncomfortable as Lugh was about Aine, as was the rest of the herd, it would probably be better, as well as more convenient, to travel after the festival. Fewer affairs that needed his attention, less risk of an attack, Aine would have time to prepare, Aine might leave on a higher note, and many members of the herd would be too busy to deal with the stressfulness of the entire situation.
