Yoki had been traveling the rogue lands for quiet some time now, and had grow exhausted with time, and the hot afternoon sun only made things worse. "Man... traveling across the unpredictable Rogue lands, all by myself, to get to some fabled place, that I don't know the direction of or if it even really exists! Nice one Yoki! Ugh! I'm such an idiot!" Yoki scolded herself out loud then smacked herself in the face for her own stupidity. "Well, at least I've come to meet some nice people, that was fun..." She thought out loud once more.

Suddenly, Yoki's thoughts were disrupted by a familiar sound that made her ears perk and a bright happy smile cross her face, Water! She rejoiced out loud as she ran towards the sound of running water. When she reached the banks she half expected it to be a hallucination, and took a cautious step forward, just to make sure she wasn't going to trip into a sand dune or something. Her smile widened even more when her paw pressed into cool, clean, welcoming water, rather then sand. Yoki quickly jumped into the river and began to swim around. Normally she would have fished first instead, but she felt like taking a swim, first and go fishing later.

It still surprised the lucky green hyena how often he'd find himself close to the different sources of water around the savannah. Sure, most other rogues could find their share of the blessed liquid, but more often than not the lucky, lazy Eru would stumble upon another source within a day of moving on from where he last lay his head for several days. This time it was moving water, a river no less. It was surrounded by enough cover to keep his safe and sheltered for a while, and even had its own source of food. He wasn't one for fish though, so he never used it for that purpose, but he loved that the water tasted as fresh as it did.

He'd been napping when he heard a sudden splash in "his" river, and upon hearing it he jolted into the waking world and was on his feet, the fur on his back on end, eyes carefully inspecting the river for the culprit. When he finally saw the cause of the commotion, he glared at the offending trespasser and nap-ruiner. "Hey! Hey, you! Get the hell outta my river!"

Yoki hadn't been swimming long when she heard someone yelling at her. She stopped for a moment and looked around. It wasn't long before she spotted another hyena on the bank of the river yelling at her to get out. Yoki scurried out of the water and walked towards the deep green hyena with her tail between her legs and her head bowed apologetically. I-I'm sorry sir, I didn't know this was you river, I'm sooooo sorry. I had no clue I swear. I'm just passing through, I will gladly leave if you would like to."

Yoki didn't really want to leave, since she hadn't eaten yet, but if the green hyena wanted her to she would respect his wishes. After all, he had called it his river, perhaps she had accidently wandered into some packs territory. Yoki looked around a little, still keeping her head in the low bow, and tired to sniff the air for any other hyenas, but all she smelt was prey and other sents associated with a river. Is he out here wandering around by himself to? She asked herself, but said nothing out loud.

He watched the brown hyena hurry out of the river, contentedly sitting down as she approached him. She didn't seem all that threatening so for a few seconds he felt pretty good about himself and keeping "his" river clean and stranger-free. When she bowed her head and started to apologize though, it was obvious that his mood started to change. He'd been raised to know better, so while she spoke Eru shifted uncomfortably where he sat. When she finished he sort of just snorted at her apology, more out of annoyance than anything else, because he really hated being mean to apologetic persons.

"Yeah, yeah. Okay, fine. You're sorry. Great.." he mumbled a few beats after she'd finished speaking. "Not really my river, but you'll make it taste like savannah dirt, swimming in it like that and getting it all dirty......." The green hyena pawed at the dirt beneath him like a little child who'd just gotten into trouble, a pouty sort of annoyed expression setting in.

Yoki lifted her head slightly to look at the green hyena and sat down when she realized she wasn't really intruding too much, and that he wasn't really that angry. She still kept her head slightly bowed, to show respect. "Oh, I'm sorry sir, It won't happen again." She noticed him pawing at the dirt as if he was guilty or something was wrong. "Oh! Where are my manners? My name is Yoki." Yoki said with a light friendly smile, hoping to slightly lighten the mood. "Um... who might you be? Erm... if you don't mind me asking" Yoki said raising her head a slight bit more, but still not sitting up totally straight.

Yoki was very glad that he hadn't sent her away, not just because she didn't want to leave the water source, but also because she hadn't talked to another hyena in quite a while. She wondered what he was doing all this way out in the rogue lands by himself, among with other questions that bubbled into her head. Regardless, she kept quiet and waited for him to reply to the question she had already asked him.

His brows furrowed when she apologized again. His inner conscience was telling him to apologize to being so rude to someone who really hadn't meant him any harm, but he fought it down and simply left it alone. He wasn't sorry for yelling, he wasn't! His pawing stopped when she introduced herself, and he raised his gaze to her at that. Her name registered in his mind and into his memory, and he noted her posture and his eye twitched slightly.

"Eru, and stop bowing! I'm not a king.. it's annoying!" he snapped, getting up at that and circling to where he'd been resting before she woke him up. "I won't apologize, I won't apologize," he murmured to himself while pacing, fighting the voice inside his head telling him to tell this stranger, Yoki, that he was sorry for yelling. He wasn't! "Why are you here anyway?" he asked, attempting to distract himself from that nagging voice at the back of his mind.

He was raised to know better, he really was.

Yoki figured Eru was getting annoyed by how apologetic she was, it wasn't uncommon. She quietly whispered another apology to herself, so he wouldn't hear, then lifted her head up from bowing. "Sor- I mean... um..." She stopped her self from apologizing again, and desided to just move onto his question. Um... I'm just kind of wandering around... well... that is a bit of an understatement. I'm headed to the Nguvu'Utawala clan. I heard it is like a hyena heaven there, but I stil haven't quite found the actual place yet..." As she said it out loud to some one else it seemed even more idiotic then it had sounded earlier when she had said it out loud to herself.

Yoki then got distracted by a splashing sound, and looked towards the water. She saw a fish jumping out of the water and instinctively stood up, her eyes fixed on the river. As she did so her stomach suddenly growled very loudly, reminding her about how hungry she was. "Um... You said I can't swim in the river, but is it alright if I go fishing?" She asked as she turned back to face Eru again.

There, that was better. She kind of stopped apologizing, so it eased the green hyena just a bit and he took a seat once again, this time making sure to face her properly. It was rude to have just gone walking on his own, after all, and she was certainly being polite. He could at least reciprocate a bit of that since he really wasn't planning on apologizing for his earlier rudeness.

At the mention of the pack she was talking about his ears twitched, the name familiar but not quite a full memory. He opted to nod before adding, "I think I've heard of 'em 'fore, but I've never been." A part of him knew there was a chance she would ask for directions, so he was kind of happy to not be able to answer since he would probably have to apologize for not being able to help. He really hated having to do that, so he felt a tinge of relief when she seemed to skip over to lunch.

The male's nose wrinkled at the idea of eating fish, but he nodded at her question yet again. "Go for it, just...try not to fall in?" To each their own, he figured.

Yoki noticed that Eru relax and relaxed a bit more herself. She was slightly sad that he didn't know much about the Nguvu'Utawala. "Oh well! Thanks anyway!" She regretted saying thank you for a moment, since he may see it as reasonless or apologetic, but hearing his approval on fishing made her face light up and forget about it. "Yay! Thank you!" Yoki said before quickly rushing back to the river bank.

Yoki stood patiently at the edge of the river. She had chosen a spot that was on a hill so she wouldn't be as tempted to wade into the water. She was slightly worried the hill and not being in the water would make it too hard to catch anything, but not too very long after she started to awkwardly fish, she caught one. It wasn't terribly big, but it would hold her over.

She walked back over to Eru and sat her fish down. She had noticed earlier that his nose crinkled when she had talked about fishing, so she got the idea that he probably wasn't too fond of fish. So, she took off running into the nearby vegetation. Since, Yoki wasn't too terribly good at hunting it took her a little while, but she eventually came back and dropped a plump Vole at Eru's feet. "I'm sorry it's not much, I'm not really good at hunting, fishing is more my style." She said with a kind smile before she went back to her fish and began to eat.

Eru watched her with slightly curious eyes as she settled into a spot to start fishing. His brows furrowed as she made a motion to grab at the fish, and he was rather surprised that she caught one with relative ease. He was about to comment, but after she set her fish down she disappeared for a few minutes once again, though this time behind the brush.

He eyed the flopping fish in the time it took her to do whatever it was she was doing. The slimy looking creature of the water and it's silly appearance with slits down the side of its head. The green male lowered his nose to it and took a sniff, nearly upchucking whatever was left in his stomach at the smell. He took a step back then, and turned his attention to the returning female. She dropped something in front of him before walking back to her fish.

Lunch? He blinked at the limp body that sat before him, his stomach starting to grumble at the sight. "Uh...thanks," he said quietly, and in a rather sheepish manner, before starting to eat as well. He probably owed her now, he thought while eating, and while he really didn't enjoy reciprocating this sort of thing he simply felt obligated to do so. Hey, at least he wouldn't have to apologize for returning the favor. Now what exactly could he do...?

Yoki watched Eru, slightly worried and eager to please. At first Yoki was worried he wouldn't like it, but she continued to watch him in case his expression changed. A bright smile slid over Yoki's face as she continued to eat her fish, she was very glad he liked it. "You are very, very welcome. Take it as me making up for dirtying up your river earlier." Yoki said between bites of fish, normally she would have stoped eating to talk, but she was very hungry.

After a few minutes Yoki finished her fish and sat patiently in wait for Eru to finish eating. Suddenly a bunch of questions popped into Yoki's head, and for a while she was able to hold her curiosity back, but after a little while he just HAD to ask. "Soooooooo... Eru, where are you from? How old are you? How come you are out here roaming the Rogue lands? How-" Yoki clapped her paws over her mouth to stop the flow of questions. "S-sorry, I didn't mean to ask so many questions at once, I just got really curious..." Yoki said then covered her mouth back up again to keep more words from flowing out.

Eru nodded at her reply, slowly eating his meal in silence. When he was finished, he dug a small hole and dumped the leftovers inside, patting down the newly loosened dirt once he was finished burying the creature. He'd been asked once why he did it, and his simple answer was because it just looked "neater" than just leaving a corpse lying around, especially since he usually stuck around in the same spot for a while.

For a second he almost forgot about his company, and then suddenly found himself barraged with a bunch of questions that he couldn't exactly process all at once. He reeled back and shook his head, scrunching his eyes tightly as if he'd just been given the biggest headache. "Wait!" he almost yelled just as she apologized for all the random questions. "One a time please? I can't think that fast..."
