Everyone was home again and mostly okay, the weird sparkles had worn off, and life was settling back into the familiar rhythm of waiting cautiously for the next bout of weird s**t. This was as good a time as any to get started on a project. Jordan had finished breakfast, given the coffee time to percolate through his veins and get his brain working, and then gone in search of Jerry, hoping that his friend wasn't too busy.

Jerry, meanwhile, was on auto pilot. Life never went how you wanted it to but his always seemed to work against whatever it was he was trying to do. Always.
He sighed, taking aim from where he crouched at the distant trashcan.
krak-KOW!! Roar's blast ripped through the metal basket, sending debris scattered across the lawn. He shifted on his seat on his grassy hill, pondering another target. His ears were ringing, but it would hopefully fade. It usually did.
Thank god for Fear Shields, or he'd be walking in Beethoven's footsteps. The thought made his stomach clench.

That was a familiar blast of sound. Jordan mentally calculated the angle it had to have come from and altered his course up the hill towards where Jerry and Roar must be. As he made his way towards them, he called out, "Hey, Jerry."
If Jerry was blasting random objects other than training dummies, it was probably a good idea to warn him that someone was approaching.

Through the ringing, he sensed someone speaking. Shoving a finger in his ear to wiggle it around, hoping to relieve the tinnitus some, he turned but brightened at the sight of Jordan. "AH! HEY!" He shouted, although he didn't really need to. "Er. WHAT'S UP?"

Jordan's eyebrows went up at the shouting. Oh, yes. Roar was loud, and Jerry was at the originating point of the bazooka's howls. "There you are," he said, a little more loudly than usual. "I was hoping to consult you about that house clearing project I mentioned a while back. What are you up to?"

"Oh UH! JUST SOME-" He cleared his throat, wiggling his finger in his ear again before de-summoning Roar and brushing himself off as he stood to greet his friend, "Some target practice. Ah... I actually... wanted to talk to you too-"

"The trash can is no longer a threat to the peace of the island," Jordan said gravely, and clapped a hand on Jerry's shoulder. "Good work. If it's okay with you, I wanted to check out what would be involved in getting that house cleared out and safe to work in." He shot Jerry an inquiring look. "Yeah? What about? I'm up for listening."

"A house...? OH! Yeah! I ah... I had thoughts on that too but ah..." One more wiggle in his ear before his expression hardened more seriously, "It's about Rep."

Jordan's mouth twisted down a little, and he looked tired for a moment before his expression settled into something more neutral and attentive. "Yeah? Let's walk down to the town," he suggested. "You can tell me on the way."
He'd been under the impression that something had been settled between Jerry and Rep, though he hadn't inquired after the details; it looked like he was going to get them now, though, at least from one side of the issue.

Jerry nodded, glancing around before picking up his things to follow his fellow Sun back down the path. "I ah... had.. a talk with him." His normally slightly wobbly expression had hardened, his jaw setting. "About what happened. On that last mission." He hesitated before glancing to Jordan with a pained expression, "Is... is Harrison mad? About... about what I did? Y-you know I didn't... that it wasn't easy, right? I'm not... I'm not like that."

Jordan tucked his hands into his pockets and headed down the path. "Harrison's not mad," he answered. "He understood that it needed to be done." He glanced thoughtfully at Jerry. "I know it wasn't easy. I'm glad you came along; I'm not sure I could have done it myself. Thank you."

Jerry bit his lip, watching their feet as they walked. "I.. I asked Rep a few things. About... what he did. Attacking me and Candace. Has he... talked to you about it?"

Jordan grimaced. "Not yet. I get the feeling I'm going to have to corner him and pry it out of him." He hesitated. "What did he say to you about it?"

"He tried to.. to explain. Why he did it." Jerry still didn't meet Jordan's eye, his voice quiet and wheels were obviously turning in the taller man's head as he tried to digest how to share this. "I listened, I asked questions... did... you know he dissociates? Like I did. Different but... but I know those symptoms anywhere. Intimately."

"He does?" This was news to Jordan, but as he rapidly flicked back through his memory over the past year, he felt the information clicking into place, discrepancies and inexplicable actions falling into a new light in which they suddenly made an uncomfortable amount of sense. "s**t," he said, and stopped, pinching the bridge of his nose and looking pained. "He does, doesn't he."
You couldn't know, Ferros said.
