H I S T O R I C A L xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx---------------------------- History: Born to a happy pair of shifters, Madeline was the second child the couple had been able to bring to a full term. The first child that was brought into the world was premature and died upon the third day of it's life. The couple had tried to have children, and miscarried several times before the two successful births, and they were blessed that Madeline was in good health and came at a normal time, so that she was not premature or sickly. A little pink bundle with blue eyes and blonde hair was like an angel sent form heaven to the couple. With the mother being a European Badger, and the father being a Giraffe, it was anyone's guess what Madeline would become, but whoever she took after, she would be loved unconditionally. And so, with the baby girl, the new parents headed home, only to find dissidence in their home over the mating, as well as within their small community. Power struggles were on the rise, and it was frightening to have such an unstable environment for their daughter, so they left the fold and the security they had, and went out on their own, hoping to find safety and comfort for their child.
That was not what they found however. With things so hard, and the new move causing everything to go wrong, ti was only a matter of time before the lack of privacy and isolation caught up with them. One fight too many, with tempers blow sky high found the shifter pair to be persecuted and on the run,. They had blown their secret, and with their daughter hardly a year and a half, their would be no safety for her in a world where a constant on the run battle would take place. There was only one solution; to return their precious daughter to the safety of numbers and isolation. The Belair estate was the only safe place, no matter who had taken control. There would be enough security to protect Madeline form those who hunted her parents.
Leaving their precious baby girl with a book of fairy tales, a stuffed unicorn, and a blanket with her name embrodiered on it, they entrusted those at the Belair estate to care for their child. Since then, it has been discovered while that as a human Madeline looks like her mother, she has her father's genes as a shifter, and is a lanky giraffe. She calls her home the estate with the other children who found their way to the estate as well. She hopes that one day her parents will come back and find her.

Beneath the pink and white covers covered in roses and swirls, there was a blanket depicting all the princesses known to the Disney collection on it. Curled beneath that, tangled in sheets, covers, pillows, and stuffed animals was a little puff of blonde hair so tangled that it looked like someone had cleaned out the houses drains and hairbrushes and left them sitting on an unmade bed. Well, of course, if everyone in the house had been blonde and able to take a fully made bed and rip it to shreds while they slept. Yet, instead, the thing under the covers, tangled up in them as though they were trying to eat them alive was a little girl Long legged and chubby cheeked, Madeline was only four, but was plenty of trouble. She was an inquisitive youngster, and a mischievous one as well. She might have been young, but she wanted to play with the older kids, and let’s face it, she knew how to demolish a fresh made bed, so that was probably a piece of foreshadowing that would only hint at other disasters she could wreak upon the house she lived in, and the people she lived with. Of course, she was as good as any orphan, just a confused kid who had tons of idols and heroes to look up to when she wanted, but no one she clung to. Aside from her books. If there was any clinging to be had, it was to her books, and occasionally Gamley her pet unicorn. This morning, the unicorn hung haphazardly half out of bed, and the book of fairy tales was dumped unceremoniously upon the floor in a heap of fluttered pages and a skirt and sock that “didn’t belong there” as the older pack members would tell her. Truthfully, she wasn’t a terribly messy toddler. She just let things slip sometimes when she forgot about them.
A moan sounded form the pile of pillows and tangle of sheets that was on the bed and the fluff of yellow tangles started to move. The sun was out and shining in her face, despite her head being buried underneath the excess of fluffed squares and rounds. First to emerge was the toes off the side of the bed. A tiny, pale foot showing the first signs of life hidden under all the mess. Then, there was a hand, and a raised head, revealing a chubby-cheeked girl with blue eyes. She blinked slowly, yawning, and sat up in bed, looking around her, disoriented form the thralls of sleep that still clung to her. That was, until her eyes found the fallen book. That was all it took, and Madeline jumped out of bed to retrieve the fallen thing. There were three bent pages. THREE! And the cover was askew. ASKEW! A word that Madeline barely understood, but she had heard it used when she saw something that looked like a mess, so she assumed that’s what it meant. Little hands gingerly picked up the faded and worn fairy tale book and righted all the pages, shutting the book and holding the covers together tightly, in hopes that the pages would straighten themselves out. Once that was done, and the cover was carefully realigned with it’s harder counterpart, she slid the book onto her bookshelf carefully, wedging it between a few others, so that it would stay tightly shut and still. From there, the little girl went to her closet and pulled out clothing, mismatching tutus with shirts and socks until she came across the perfect combination for an outfit. Once she was dressed and pulled the socks past her knees and slipped her feet into her rain boots, she rushed to her bedside table and pulled a comb through her tangled locks. Fighting the comb for a while, she gave up when she had gotten the tangles off the crown of her head, and placed the tiara upon the tangled tresses, and looked in her mirror with a smile. She looked beautiful! She grabbed her purse, which also doubled as her trusty steed, and Gamley’s cousin, Prudence. And then she was off.
It wasn’t like she ever made her bed anyways. Princesses didn’t have to. They had loyal servants who would come and do it for them. Madeline rushed from her room and went down the stairs slowly, her head held high, her hand on the banister, reaching almost over her head. After all, Princesses didn’t slouch. They didn’t do a lot of things, and Madeline was determined to be a great princess. After all, once she was a princess, she could search all over to find her parents right? That’s what being a princess meant. It meant she could have whatever she wanted. She would have to be kind and just, and then, when she had loyal subjects, she would be able to ask for favors. All she wanted was her parents. That wasn’t too much to ask was it? She was being responsible. She shook her head as she reached the bottom of the stairs and listened carefully. There were lots of voices coming from the kitchen, so she was not going to go in there. If she was ever going to get more loyal subjects, she needed to go outside and meet people! Of course, that wasn’t allowed. It was because she was a special princess. She was an animal shifter princess! A giraffe! But the adults in the house told her she couldn’t go outside, because she could show others what she was, and that was dangerous. She didn’t understand it, but she had seen shows where animals were kept in cages. Hello! She knew what the discovery channel was! It still didn’t stop her from wanting to go outside and find more loyal subjects. Maybe they had seen her parents? Maybe they could help her find them! The people in the house didn’t seem to want to help her most of the time, but then again, they were bigger and had lots of work to do. And that was when they weren’t yelling at each other.
With a huff, she sneaked towards the door, making sure she looked every couple of feet no one was watching her. As she got to the door, she looked around once more, and slipped out quietly, holding the knob so it wouldn’t click when she shut the door. Once she was out, she made a break for the trees. She wasn’t going to get caught and tossed back inside! Prudence was carrying things she would need,. A couple of granola bars. A lollipop. And it wasn’t as if she wasn’t ever coming back. She had left her book inside the house! She would have to come back, unless everyone thought she was crazy and would leave Gamley AND her book in the house. She wouldn’t leave either behind, so they would have to know she was coming back. She smiled. No one was chasing yet. Maybe that meant that no one had seen her. That was a good thing. That meant that no one could stop her. She’d be home free once she hit the trees. The windows wouldn’t be able to see her anymore, which meant no one would be able to see her from the house. She smiled, readjusting the strap attached to Prudence, and started off the porch. She would go around the house and safely make it to the tree line, and then she’d be free to go explore the world beyond the house. No one would catch her, not in time anyways. She smiled, not feeling any indication of a shift coming. She knew that when her body wanted her to become a giraffe, she turned into one, but normally, there was a little something beforehand. She didn’t feel any of that at the current moment, so she deemed it same. Tugging her socks up and adjusting Prudence and her tutu, she started around the corner of the house, ready to run for the trees.
But she stopped short. She was so close to running straight out, that she almost missed the two people that were sitting out in the sun. one was a boy and one was a girl. She looked at both of them and didn’t remember names. Or animals. She knew that she had seen their faces around the house, so they had to live inside of it. They were familiar, and they would make her go back inside. All the adults did. They always told her that she had to stay safe in the house, even when he wanted to go outside and play, but she would never get any loyal subjects if she wasn’t allowed to go outside and explore the world beyond the trees! She kicked at the dirt and looked for a way to sneak around the two adults when she noticed two things about the man. One, was that he was naked. She’d never seen a naked man or boy before. She hadn’t been allowed to. She was told it was “inappropriate” or something like that. The second, was that the man had a trunk in the wrong place. Madeline smiled. She’d figured out what kind of animal he was! He had to be an elephant! She just wasn’t sure how the man had gotten his trunk to hang somewhere it didn’t belong. Or why it was so small and short. All the documentaries she’d seen had showed long elephant trunks that could be used to pick up food and put it in mouths. This one was too small to pick up anything, and it wasn’t really moving. She sighed, knowing that they had probably already seen her, so she wouldn’t be clearing the tree line today. Instead, she put her hands on her hips and marched up to the two, looking first to the girl to be polite, and then to the man. She put her hands on her hips and then took one off and pointed it at the man [Rozza]. ”Hey! Hey Mister Elephant! How’djoo get your trunk to hang down there? Isn’t it ‘posed to be on your face? Like a nose? And why is it so small? I don’t think you can getchur food with that one. Can you show me how you gotchur trunk down there instead of on your face? And dontchu know your ‘posed to be dressed when you come outside? You gotta wear clothes silly! Otherwise you’re gonna get into trouble!” She looked at him, returning her hand to her hip and leaning forward, pursing her lip, showing she meant business. Then, on a second thought, she reached fro Prudence, petting it’s head before unzipping his back and taking out a notebook and a crayon. She was going to write down her discoveries, and the information just like any good explorer or scientist. Writing things down was how people remembered to do things. If she could learn how to put her animal parts on partially, and in different places, she’d be really special! And then, maybe she could get even more subjects! She looked to him, crayon poised on the paper, waiting for his response, looking at him, and tapping her boot impatiently. He was going to have to tell her now. ”If you tell me, I won’t tell that you were running around without any clothes, deal? I gotta record your answer so I ‘member, mmkay?” She looked up at him expectantly, waiting for him to give her the answer she was craving. And if he didn’t, well, she was sure someone like Damon would like to know that the man [Rozza] was running around naked.
