an older photo, but with smaller text (something along the lines of japanese magazine spreads, with their tiny tiny but oh-so-good text/typography):

i think i would have like the word v****a not placed directly on the photograph, perhaps below in the frame.

the text on the second image feels more appropriate with the level of digital manipulation.

but i like the lighting alot. alot alot.

thanks for the insight with the text. i'll have to watch out for that next time, and i think you're right in probably placing the text in the first pic down in the frame. i guess i was too afraid of it looking like those motivational posters...but it might also be funny to attempt something like that as well, heh.

Everytime I see one of those I get an urge to tear it down, cover it in flammable liquid, light it and then set fire to whom so ever (probably "wacky" -but firm- boss/management type figure) thought it would be a wonderful, arty and productive way to brighten up the office space.

Our school put one up in the senior study area... around the same time as we were doing our freedom march against their new school dress policies.(Black shoes, white shirts, ties- the full bifter.)
Coincidently, it was a picture of fish- with one fish swimming in the opposite direction and with pink and purple stripes. The sickeningly joyous strapline was "Individuality, be yourself and be noticed.

To this day I swear they did it simply to taunt us.

Oh yes, I really like the text on the v****a poster. It's very pretty.
The picture itself looks very appealing to me, soft but also clear.
(can you tell I have never done any photography? These are just my innocent impressions.)

The other one just looks really awesome all over to me, snazzy, like something you would see in an advert or on a poster.

yeah... i could do without the text at all. i kind of a little bit a lot despise text/titles directly on photography. maybe this is my inner printmaker clawing out, where you just sign it in pencil and put the number/run whatnot and date discreetly in a corner.

the photograph by itself is effective/suggestive enough without the word "v****a" plastered across it or even across the bottom.
(also, i like the photograph.)

*nod* *nod*. the v****a photo was initially an inside joke thing, in where one of my guy friends is prudish when it comes to terminology for the female gentalia. and i think with the suggestions you all gave i can probably go back and take those into consideration.

what if i made the text a little more discreet? i'm kinda a lover of typography and it's hard to break the habit. besides, someone over at dA suggested that i make a whole sexy alphabet series that sounds pretty fun to do. i guess it'd be nice to develop the initial look now so i can use it for the rest of the 25 letters.

when read "sexy alphabet" my first thought was an actual typographical endeavor, like making the form of the letter sexy as opposed to illustrating the letter with an erotic image
i think that would be a good project, a sexy alphabet.

i'll keep that idea in mind, although i do want to do a project that focuses more on photography.
