A break from games and fanfare, Mot led Gene to the outskirts of the festival so he could have some quality time with his new ghoulfriend. Besides, there was a cake and treats to share, and he wanted to know if it turned out as well as his first attempt.
He'd also brought his own stash of espesso beans covered in chocolate, cause man the first few batches were great!
He sat with her on a bench, the treats between the two, and a thermos of coffee taken out from his bag for them. "Go ahead! Give it all a try~" He offered, taking a handful of his own choco-beans.
Mmmmm... espresso~

Glad to take a break from all the hustle and bustle of the Scarentine's booths, Gene was snuggled up close next to the boil and sipping on the coffee he'd brought, hungrily gazing at the espresso beans smothered in chocolate. Any coffee lover could tell you that those were the best snack in existence, and that they were meant for sharing with only the most special people.
She popped one in her mouth, suckling the chocolate off the bean fbefore crunching it, a deep sigh trickling from her throat. Oh, oh yes that was good. Did he say he'd made these? Dear Jack, they were heavenly...
"You said Junko helped you with these? They're divine."

"You think so? Thanks so much!" He grinned widely, tickled pink that she really enjoyed them. "It took us a few tries, but I didn't stop trying until they came out right. But now that I know how, I can make them for you all the time." Or at least for special occasions.
He took another small hand full and popped them in his mouth, crunching down on them all right away rather than sucking off the chocolate. This of course was leading to an intense caffeine high, one that had not been witnessed since his first adventure in the haunted House back in Year One.
When Mot was highly caffeinated, he tended to talk. A lot.
"Gene, what sort of music do you like? I always love how you dress, do you shop a lot?" She was a true ghoul, after all. He wondered if she did a lot of ghouly things like a normal ghoulfriend would. Well, even if she didn't, she was ten times more of a ghoul than his ex was. Not that he hated Hel. No, he cared about her a lot. But somehow he felt like the man in the relationship this time.

Gene made a little face at the way Mot was just shoving the beans in his mouth, but let it go. He made them, he was a grown man, he could eat his espresso beans how he wanted to. She would continue eating them one at a time, slowly. It did, however, spread a soft blue across her face to think of him trying so hard to make these perfect. All the seeds he must have spent, all the thought and time that went into it. She didn't care how many seeds he spent, but all the effort? He would get a little peck on the cheek, and Junko would get a hug sometime later.
Oh, oh my. Mot was already showing signs of one of his caffeine highs, something she'd sort of experienced at the Maul. From what she'd been told, however, that was tame. Apparently in the Haunted House he'd been much, much worse...
Well, it came with the package.
"Music? I like more lo-fi things, but I don't abandon a band if they become big. Like Of Monsters and Reapers, for instance." She'd bought their EP when they were still under the radar, but she kept listening even though they were in the main music scene now. "And thank you! I tend to shop after work, yeah. Usually with Danny or Belladonna, if they're in the maul that day." Which happened a few times a month, really. She didn't buy a lot at once, but her wardrobe steadily increased through the year.
"What about you? Music and clothing? Got a favorite celebrity?"

Never not kisses for Mot. Give them all to him.
"A bit of an underground fan, huh?" Mot smiled toothily, lightly bumping heads with her in jest. "Ohya, where did you and Danny go, anyway? She seemed like she was really anxious to show you something."
Mot was at least a giddy man when he was high on caffeine. All smiles and sunshine. "I think my choice in clothing has been changing lately, but I guess you can tell I lean toward the cowboil theme. I usually browse thrift shops for it all, because I can find so many unique things there for very little. I like a lot of alternative and rock music~ A bit of country now and then too. My Favorite band right now is Colossal Wreck. OH did you know I can play the harmonica?"

Underground? More like center of the earth. Gene was one of those people, but at least she didn't flaunt it in people's faces. A light smile and Gene pulled a card out of her purse, looking away so she wouldn't burst into hysterical laughter. She really had made the tackiest card she could, and she hoped Mot would appreciate the humor in it.
"Well...Danny needed help making Rikki a card, so I demonstrated for her..." She held said card out to Mot, snorting a little. She really couldn't help it; the thing was atrocious.
"Ooooh, thrift stores. Those are nice if you go to the right ones." The right ones being the ones that were actually thrift stores and not the big chain thrift shops. Those were just dumb. "Maybe we could go thrift shopping together sometime? It'd be fun."

Mot smiled, taking the card and...
. . .
"PFFT---" Mot put a hand to his mouth as he tried not to laugh, but he did. He so laughed. "Where did you guys even.." He laughed some more, hunched over in relentless giggles. He managed to contain himself, nearly bursting out again when he looked back at the card once more. He swiftly hid it so he wouldn't.
"I think that would be great! Aw geez, this is wonderful! You're way more easy to hang out with than-" Oops, he almost let it slip. He'd really been trying not to compare Gene with her, or set her on a pedestal. "W-wait, not that she wasn't---um n-never mind!" Don't bring up the ex, Mot! "Sorry, I'm being rude." He became flustered, the caffeine taking away his brain to mouth filter.

Gene broke into her own fit of giggles with Mot, capacity to hide them broken by Mot's infectious laughter. It made her happy that they shared some pieces of their humor, especially when it came to glitter bombs.
"There's an arts and crafts booth, and...I just..." She giggled more, popping an espresso bean in her mouth to try and shut herself up. Her stomach was going to hurt from all the laughter.
Cocking her head a little and raising a brow, Gene tugged on Mot's sleeve while he was trying to make himself be quiet. What was he going to say? She was easier to hang out with than who? Hel? He didn't know too much about their relationship, but she seemed very...dominant, to say the least.
"Aw, c'mon, you call tell me hon. You can't just say something like that and then decide not to." She gave him a light pout, but kept it smiley. She wasn't upset, just curious.

"Oh, well.." He couldn't hold back. The espresso beans magic was too powerful. His will was gone. "Me and my ex? We were really different, and she wasn't a typical ghoul. She was a warrior at heart, and if I called her cute she'd get mad at me. She didn't like wearing dresses or anything beyond her usual attire, so no shopping trips. She had her own high points of course, but I felt less like I was dating a ghoulfriend and more like SHE was the boilfriend half the time."
Mot could barely hear himself talk. The power of caffeine had hijacked his brain, reading it aloud like an open book.
"It's hard to get close to someone you feel is beyond your reach. Not only that, at the time? I wasn't very good at showing physical affection, which is something she wanted more of, I think."

Gene listened closely, suckling on another espresso bean. Hel sounded very...very not like Mot at all. Not that Mot wasn't a warrior, but he just had a kinder, more gentle spirit. He liked to dote on ghouls and be the big man, which Gene was completely fine with and one of the things she adored.
She was a ghouly ghoul, she loved to shop and make coffee and bake with Xiu. Hell, she was opening a cafe that was going to be the cutest thing on the block. She wasn't so ghouly that she dressed in pink and frills, but she'd be damned if she didn't like to wear dresses with lace or a big sweater and leggings.
"Sweetie, no one's ever beyond your reach." She smiled, squeezing him arm. "But I understand - you two were very different, it seems."

Mot smiled bashfully, scratching his cheek. "Yeah, worlds different. We fought a lot because of it, but I always believed being with her would make me a better person. But those differences often tore us further apart. We both wanted to stay together, and I wanted to do my best, but at one point I suggested we just take a break for a bit, just so I could re-access it. But that was the biggest mistake I could have made... I thought it would help bring us together after we had a breather, but then only a couple days after it.. she.."
Oh no.. should he be saying this about Hel? But he didn't often talk about it, and now that the magic had a hold he just couldn't hold back.
"Well, she and Mac slept together. I guess taking time apart meant something else to her."

Gene's eyes went from caring and sweet to livid in a second. She'd done what? With who? Had Mac still been with Lizzy at the time? Had Mac done it to antagonize Mot? A million similar questions raced through her mind as she stared at her boilfriend, unsure of what to do.
She came to a conclusion, and simply hugged him tight. It had to hurt to talk about something like that; even if he was in a caffeine high. She was like that for a while, just hugging him and stroking her fingers along his spine.
"Well...I'm so sorry, spookie."

Mot took comfort in the gesture, hugging her back and relishing the length of the hug. "It's okay. I mean.. it is in the past, now." Not that it didn't still hurt. It had been a dark spot for sure, one that didn't go away just because a considerable amount of time had passed. Hel was still his friend. He'd done many things that made her sad too, he was sure.
"I'm no angel either. I told her I didn't want to see her again, but then begged for her back. I feel like I played with her heart quite a bit just to figure out my own. So we hurt each other, it wasn't just her."

Gene stayed in the hug, listening to him explain that he'd hurt her as well. A little frown creased her lips as she kept stroking his back before planting a little kiss on his cheek, finally pulling away.
"Well... you've changed. I'm sure you've learned, and so has she." She smiled, holding his hands. In Gene's mind, Hel had committed the greater offense - Mot had just been confused and hurt. Hel had been hurt too, she was sure, but sleeping with someone as despicable as Mac? (not that the who mattered, really) That was just overreacting to the pain.
She popped another bean in her mouth, keeping a sadder smile on her face. "Well, spookie, if we ever need a break...I promise I won't do that to you." A pause and she was nuzzled into his arm again. "Not that I think we'll ever need one."

Mot smiled warmly, taking her hand and placing a kiss upon the back of it. "I don't think we'll ever need one either. And thank you for listening. I don't mean to complain, especially during a festival." It felt good having that issue out in the open. He didn't want secrets or darkness building up between them. Troubles and worries would all come to light bit by bit, not all at once.
Since she was nuzzling his arm, he rested his head above hers. A warm smile still painted his face.
"That glitter on the card you made me is going to stick something awful to my hands." He murmured with a chuckle.
