The little staryu was still stuck in town, it had wandered out of it trying to find a lake that would be suitable for it to live in, but no matter how far it traveled the poor thing always ended up drying out...and would be forced to retreat back to the fountain that had become its temporary home. Slumping somewhat the poor pokemon dragged itself back into the cool shallow waters to wallow in self pity.
It was starting to become a real problem...if it couldn't find a better place to call home it was sure to be caught by a human eventually and forced to compete in battles...or worse...contests...dressing up...it was just so ridiculous. Sinking to the bottom of the fountain the staryu let out a few bubbles and watched them as they floated to the top. It wished it was night, for then it could at least get a glimpse of the stars..but it was only midday, and there were still so many hours left before night would reveal itself.
Sitting up the staryu was trying to think of what direction it could go next on its venture...or if it would just have to give up and go back down stream and back to the ocean home.

Melody needed a bath. A good one, not the kind that came from hopping around in someone's yard and playing in a water sprinkler - and even that was something she could only find in months warmer than the past few had been. The chatot felt grimy, and wanted a good, proper, splash-around in the water for an hour bath. And she was on a mission to find one. That puddle over there might work, but it looked far too muddy.
Sighing dramatically, the bird flew on, searching in vain for something nice - oh, oh there was a fountain, off to her right! Banking sharply in mid-air, the bird pokémon let her wings carry her to the fountain, where she alighted in the edge with a happy chirp.
"Finally, a good place for a bath!" But wait. Was there something in the water? Turning her head to see better, Melody leaned out over the edge of the water, bringing her head as close to the surface as she dared and squinting sharply. There was something in there!Something glinting bright red and shiny, like a gem. Melody leaned in just a bit closer, trying to get a better view - and that did it. Overbalanced and scrambling to keep her foothold, the chatot fell straight into the fountain with a splash and a surprised squawk.

Watching the little staryu wondered what that chayote was doing...it was leaning awful dangerously to the edge of the fountain. It knew that it couldn't give a warning to the Pokemon for it couldn't speak, but it still wanted to warn it...and it was about to rise to the surface when suddenly the chatot was in the drink!
Splashing and flailing around the staryu went immediately to its aid. Rising to the surface it became like a platform underneath the bird Pokemon and it gently drifted back towards the ledge somitncould get off and hopefully recover from its ordeal. It wished it could askmhowmit was doing, if it was okay..but since it couldn't get those words across it only lingered trying to look concerned.

Aaaaah! Drowning! She was drowning! Melody squawked and flailed about, thrashing wildly in the water, even as she realized that her head had broken the surface... and the rest of her body had, and - oh, hey there was the ledge! With a happy chirp, the chatot hopped onto the ledge and started preening her feathers back into place, belatedly noticing her rescuer.
Oh! Oh, oh, oh! Oh wow! Was that a Staryu? Melody had never met a Staryu before! "Hello! Hello, thank you for saving me!" she chirped, mostly in pokéspeech, but with the 'hello's in proudly mimicked english. "Is this your fountain? Can I play with you? I wanted to take a bath here, is that okay? Do you live here? What do you do when trainers come by? Can you get away? How did you get here? Did you hatch here? I'm Melody, what's your name? Do you want to be friends?"
On and on the bird pokémon babbled, not stopping long enough to let the water-type do more than possibly try to get a word in edgewise - honestly, even if it did try, Melody probably wouldn't notice, she was much too caught up in having someone new to talk to!
