He hurt. His tail dragged and the tendrils still stung horribly. The cut across his chest stung too, and Ling had not been a easy burden to carry through the Umbra roads. At least the Roads were easy to travel this time. Alutar reached the city, then the Fortress itself. He used one of the side entrances, so he didn't have to worry about a priest stopping him and asking what had happened to him. Alutar's private room was a few levels down in the temple fortress. Which was a mark of honor as far as he could tell. Alutar's room was really a suite. With his own private bathroom, a small study that had a odd assortment of rocks on the bookshelves instead of actual books. There was also a room meant for him to use for his practices. Be it as a priest or a knight. Right now all he had in it was a potted plant from the Stone forest and a large glass bowl with some curious white fish he'd managed to catch. He found their eyeless little swimmings interesting and adored dropping little bugs into the water to watch them snatch up. Alutar hadn't wanted to get blood all over his bed, so he had thrown some leather blankets over a small bench like couch along one wall, then laid Ling on it. he wasn't a priest, he didn't have healing training but...he figured it couldn't be too hard to wash Ling of the blood and wrap his sword wounds with some gauze he snatched from the temple healers ward. As he worked, Alutar's tail twitched in agitation.

Ling stirred, moaning softly as he started to come to. Then his antenna fluttered wildly, the equivalent of ones eyes shooting open. He attempted to jolt up but the frenzy of pain caused him to remain laying. It only took a moment for him to 'see' that he was no longer on the surface and that the cursed's presence was no more. Turning his sightless face towards the prince as he mentally put the pieces together as to what must have happened.

The moment Ling started to move, Alutar shifted back on his knees. He'd seen how viscious those claws could be and since Ling appeared to be in a startled state, he didn't want to get slashed. The simple sword cut across his chest was more pain then he'd ever suffered, and the spoiled little prince didn't want to 'suffer' anymore. "Hey." He said as he held his hands up in the air to show all he was holding was a cloth for dabbing away the blood and a roll of gauze in the other. Alutar was relieved when Ling merely 'looked' at him instead of lunging though. "So...I think I'm almost done patching you up...but if you want to take over I'll have no problem with that...though your kinda hurt bad. You may want to just lay there for a bit?"

If Ling had been in any better shape he may have lashed out at the prince in his startled state. However the severity of his wounds combined with his quick identification of the prince with raised hands, left him in a slightly confused, but not really dangerous state. As the prince spoke Ling took a moment to assess his surroundings. Slowly he pulled his pain wracked body into a sitting position, ignoring the last bit of the prince's words. Having witnesses the Prince get injured earlier yet not seeing bandages on him he lifted a clawed finger to point at the injury. "Ye be more than One." His words soft trying to basically say that the prince's wounds should have been cared for before his own. He felt a bit lightheaded from the effort it took to remain sitting.

Alutar watched Ling force himself to sit up, but did nothing to stop him. Ling was an adult after all, not a kid. If he wanted to sit up despite his wounds then he wasn't going to fuss like...like...his mother or something. Instead Alutar glanced down at the cut across his chest, and did his best to hide the small shudder in his shoulders. He was only grateful Ling had no eyes to see how dark his face was turning in shame. "I...know...It hurts. I've never hurt this bad before and I don't like it...but you were bleeding pretty bad, and looked a lot worse then this." Alutar trailed off as his tail moved to brush some of the blood stained cloths across the floor and away from him. "Besides. If you hadn't jumped in I'd probably look worse then you right now..."

Ling's breathing was heavy back against the leather covered couch. He was used to pain, it was the physical limitations that came with it that really bothered Ling. He 'watched' the prince as he spoke, antenna waving slowly and he took up some gauze to finish the job the prince had started. It seemed the prince was unaccustomed to battle and pain, something Ling had not known. For had he known such he would have jumped immediately, but he hadn't wanted to cause any dishonor. However, he still felt that the prince should have gotten help, or treated his own wounds first but he said nothing on the matter. After the prince trailed off Ling responded. "One offers all for Darkness." He said his voice soft, but rather straight forward.

When Ling would work on finishing the job Alutar had started, the prince pushed himself off his knee's and stood. Since Ling was going to tend to himself, Alutar decided to finally do the same for himself. He used his tail to brush the bloody rags into a pile, then wandered off into his bathroom so he could get a wet rag to wipe away the dried blood on his chest. Walking away served to also give Alutar some time to puzzle over Lings response too. Offers all for Darkness? So he could assume the only reason Ling had helped him was because of his father, a fact that didn't bother Alutar as much as it may have others. Once his chest was clean, and he'd rubbed a thin clear ointment that smelled faintly of some sort of flower he knew his father grew, Alutar wandered back to see how far along Ling had gotten bandaging himself up. "You know. I've been thinking." He said as he moved to sit on the opposite end of the couch where Ling currently was. His tail curled and flicked over the edge as if the appendage itself was bored and would rather be doing something more then sitting. "You've helped me a bit...well more then a bit really. I'd probably have gotten myself blinded badly when I fell out on that ledge if you hadn't led me to that cave...and I know I'd be in a really bad position now if you hadn't fought off that Cursed for me. I know why you did all of it. Because of who my dad is." Alutar made a small gesture with his hands as part of a shrug. "I feel like I ought to do something or say something but I'm not quite sure what."

By the time the prince had returned from finally taking care of his own injury, Ling was tying off the last bandage so it would not fall off. He felt like a mummy with all the bandages, but for some reason he didn't feel quite as irritated by the lack of movement he had in his current state. He turned his blind face towards the prince as he took a seat beside him. His antenna waved slowly and he seemed rather peaceful for everything he had just gone through. Listening to what the prince had to say Ling could only agree that he had only aided the prince because of who he was. The prince's indifference on the reasoning didn't much matter to Ling, too anti social to really care if others took issue with his reasons for doing anything. However, at the last bit Ling tilted his head, slightly curious. He had never, in all his life, had another being express gratitude or a desire to repay him for anything he had done. Ling was silent in his confusion for a long while. Finally he spoke in a whisper-soft voice. "Ye need do nothing. One seek not rewards." Ling did not do what he had done to be rewarded or praised. The only wish in his heart is that he can again feel welcome in his loved dark crevices.

After he had said his piece, Alutar folded his hands in his lap. He ignored the movements of his tail as best he could. A part of him wanted to step on the furred tip, but it still sort of stung from the stomp it had recieved. To distract himself, he watched the way Ling's Antenna waved about. It seemed remarkably similar to the way his tail tendrils would move, or his fathers for that matter. Alutar dropped his eyes from Ling's antenna when he would speak to him, and he was grateful that the other wasn't speaking too cryptically. "I am sure you weren't looking for some reward." Alutar slowly spoke. "But you did save me, and that's not a little thing. So...at the least, I can offer to let you stay here until your all healed up." Alutar turned to glance around his room. "The only one who comes in here is a Darkness to clean up. I think...I never actually see it, but my cloths always get picked up and I always wake up with something to eat waiting for me on the table." His hand lifted and he made a casual gesture towards a decorative stone table that seemed to be carved right from the wall itself.

Ling turned his head towards the rest of the room he was in and as the prince spoke his mind cleared of all the more pressing things that had bombarded him upon his awakening. Pieces started to fit together and with a few key words from the Prince and some of his own observations he discovered where he was at. Suddenly it made sense as to why he had been so calm and less irritable that he had been since his self imposed exile. He wasn't just in any darkness he was in the very heart of it, the temple of Darkness. His antenna fluttered wildly and he was torn between feelings of shame and feelings of peace. The depth of the darkness around him had a natural soothing effect, however, it was one that Ling still did not feel worthy of. Then it occurred to him that even if his actions earlier had not granted him his desired redemption, he could enjoy the offered accommodations. If nor no other reason than to humor the young prince of Darkness. At this Ling allowed himself to relax, visibly, and though he was still having a mental battle about his current location his turmoil was no longer present physically. After a while he spoke. "Place of Darkness, one hath no right." He paused and turned his stitched face back towards the prince. "But, one shall not spurn one of Darkness." With these fairly cryptic words Ling lay himself back down to ease his pain and hopefully help his now throbbing head.

As usual, Ling seemed to take his time in answering him. As before, Alutar didn't push for him to say anything before he was ready to. Nor did he feel the need to fill the silence with his own rambling words. Finally though, Ling stopped 'looking' around and seemed to relax against the couch. When he said he had no right, Alutar gave a rather small snort of amusement. "I'm not my dad, and I don't know all the things he does." Alutar said as he scooted off the couch and wandered over to a series of standing wardrobes. he opened one and pawed through a assortment of boxes cluttering the interior shelves. "But I do know that if you weren't allowed here dad would have made that obvious. The Umbra was easy to walk back and the doors were all unlocked, and the shadow passages were all where I expected them to be." Alutar tilted his head to peer over at Ling thoughtfully. "Are you hungry or thirsty? Will you want a change of cloths too? I will warn you, everything I have is either black leather or green silk."

Ling's reasoning for having a right to be here was more on a personal feeling of worth than whether he was allowed to actually be here. He however, didn't bother to say anything as the Prince spoke of the ease and rightness of bringing him here to the heart of Darkness. The very fact that Darkness himself had not barred his entrance, however, gave Ling a glint of hope that redemption was definitely possible. From his laying position on the leather covered couch he 'watched' Alutar rummaged though some boxes. He didn't respond to the question right way, but after a small silence he replied simply. "Water, On wouldn't mind." He really was parched from the the fighting and excitement. In the line of clothes though Ling didn't wear much in the first place. Though his dark slack type pants were totally ruined, his cape hadn't really taken any damage.

"Water...right..." Alutar repeated as he pulled away from the wardrobe. He stepped over to another one and jiggled the handle for a second. There was a slight clicking then the sound of something shifting inside as he carefully pulled the door open. Alutar managed to get the door open just wide enough to slip his arm through the crack, then reached in to push against something. Despite being a honored and esteemed Prince of a God, Alutar often had moments when he just....he was just a kid. Or rather a young adult now. He loved to explore, which resulted in him gathering up tokens and souvenirs from each outing or discovering. The library filled with odd shaped rocks was a perfect example of the sort of worthless odds and ends he tended to pick up and carry home. This particular wardrobe was both like and unlike his open collection. Inside the wardrobe, Alutar had collected a wide range of weapons and fighting gear items. The largest of which proved to be a rectangular shield that was just a little taller then the prince himself. It rested inside the wardrobe, inside a gap between the edges of the shelves and the wardrobe door itself. Alutar propped it up as he pushed the door open, then scooted it to one side so he could take it out and rest it against the wall. Once it was no longer in danger of toppling out onto him, Alutar half crawled inside of his 'war chest' and over some, luckily, sheathed swords to get at a small assortment of travel gear shoved to the back. There was a travelers backpack there, and inside of it he was able to find a silver mug engraved with fanciful flowers. Alutar knew he could have just gone to the kitchen for a cup, or maybe summoned a Darkness to fetch him one..but this seemed less of a bother really. The prince crawled back out and wandered into the bathroom to use the sink tap. After the mug was filled, he brought it over to Ling and wordlessly offered it to him.

Ling 'watched' the prince with a mild curiosity from his place on the couch. He was a bit confused as to why the prince was crawling about a cabinet of battle related items after he had asked for water. But he wasn't one to argue with the method of a prince of Darkness. It, however, made much more sense when Ling 'spotted' the mug Alutar removed from a traveler bag. Ling pulled himself into a half sitting position to silently accept the cool, metal mug of water. Sipping from it the eyeless one enjoyed the wet, coolness of the liquid as it moved down his parched throat. 'Looking' at the prince as he continued to thirstily drink the water, he liked the way he felt not the need to fill every silence with annoying ramblings. Finishing off the water from the large mug he lay back down on the couch and uttered a few quite words. "One is grateful."

Alutar watched as Ling drained the mug of water. When his guest would lay himself back down on the couch, Alutar rocked back a few steps. His tail swayed behind him slowly, the small tendrils trailed on the floor with the tips lightly grasping at the cracks they passed. "Your welcome. I guess I'll let you sleep now. If your cold..."His hand lifted to point to another wardrobe. "There are blankets and pillows in there, some other things too. Help yourself." Alutar turned his head to glance at the bathroom. He supposed it didn't need to be said that he could use that place if the need arose. So instead he turned and wandered his way to the door. "I have to head to the temple. Do my service thing and all. I'll see you later." He called over his shoulder with a half wave of his hand.
