If she had a heart beat, Sophie's heart would have been pounding out of her chest. If she had proper blood flow, she imagined her cheeks would be bright red and her hands perhaps a little clammy. These were all things she could remember happening when she was alive, drilled into her brain though her body wouldn't display physical signs. Her cheeks felt warm to her and her chest hummed lightly as if her heart was trying to beat. She wiped her palms on the blanket, smoothing her pigtails down before holding one of them with both hands and pulling on it. She wondered who she was going to be paired up with - if he would be nice or not. Patient or demanding.
Sophie cleared her throat and she gazed around at the other daters, trying to pick up on normal behaviour. Things one should do on a date. She had no idea, of course since this was.. Her eyes widened. This was her first date. It was a speed date, so she wasn't sure if it really counted and maybe she was overreacting a little, but it was her first anything involving a boil in that way. That way. She almost slapped herself for getting ahead of herself.
This was probably the biggest mistake she'd made in a long time and it didn't look like she had any easy way of getting out of it without hurting the boil's feelings. "Fifteen minutes, Sophie. You can do it."

Xavier just stared blankly at the ghoul as though she were some sort of strange thing that had just appeared in front of him that he had no idea how to deal with.
"Erm," he said. "Er. Um."
A long pause."H...hello."

At the sound of a voice, Sophie's head whipped around and she stared at the boil like a.. what was the human saying? A dear in deadlights? No, that wasn't right.. Whatever it was, that's what she looked like and she had to shake her head to snap herself out of it.
Why did she have to be so socially awkward. Jack. Jackjackjack.
Finally, she opened her mouth and spoke. "Hello," she wasn't much more audible than the boil and she took a moment to psych herself up and continued on. "I'm Sophie."
Three words on her first try. That was kind of a big deal for her.
