[Concept] Allowed Species- Saber-tooth tigers. Coloration Restrictions- Natural colors only. Browns, tans, cream, black, white, grey, ect. Red, yellow, and orange are also acceptable, as long as its not an exceptionally bright hue. Any pattern is fine. Leadership- One ruler, challenge-able by any male during old age. Dice Rolling Events- There will be a system of dice rolling for events such as sparring between males, and hunting for females. There may be some sort of prizes involved, either ICly from the Boss, or art drawn of your saber by myself. Territory- The pride lives in a valley mostly cut off by high mountain walls, and is warmed by a dormant volcano that faces in the opposite direction of the valley. The area around the valley is cold and partially covered in ice and snow depending on the season.[History] The pride is a fairly old one, dating back to the first small family group that discovered the volcanic valley. Many creatures came and went from the paradise, from herbivores to wolves, rogue sabers, and even bears. Eventually the small family group grew in numbers, and competing for resources with the other carnivores was beginning to get a little tiresome. There simply wasn't enough prey to go around for everyone! The tigers were faced with a difficult decision: leave this beautiful valley and face the freezing cold for the rest of the winter, or push out the other carnivores. The tigers had, like many others, come to call this place home and would not give it up without a fight.
So they went to work harassing the various packs of dire wolves, the lone bears, and the rogue tigers that refused to join their ranks. It took many seasons, as some of their neighbors were quite fierce and stubborn in the face of opposition, but eventually the little pride of saber-toothed cats prevailed. At the start they allowed any tiger with any pelt color to join them, so long as they were willing to help out and feed the rest of pride. It was mostly a peaceful lifestyle, but the pride would occasionally need to drive out groups of encroaching wolves, bitter at the loss of their territory and seeking to steal it back.
The only real trouble came when a new predator joined the scene. Hairless apes that threw great stones and carried large, pointed sticks. Like all others the pride sought to drive them away, attacking the apes on sight and harassing their hunting attempts within the volcano valley. What they didn't expect was for the strange creatures to come after their young, killing and stealing their fur to morbidly wrap around themselves. The tigers were outraged and filled with a great sorrow for the loss of their young. This would not stand. It was a bloody, long battle and the tigers lost more to their numbers than would have ever thought possible, but they managed to finally drive the sickening creatures out of their territory in one full-scale attack. In the eyes of the tigers, they were evil, cruel animals that must never be tolerated in their territory.
This attitude continued throughout the generations, as stories of the twisted apes who walked on two legs and killed tiger cubs for their fur were passed down from old to young. When spotted in or around the territory, the apes were attacked on sight, normally driven away without too much trouble, and on rare occasion the battle had turned bloody. Typically in the favor of the tigers. Despite these efforts, the apes kept returning, persistent in their pursuit. The tigers knew not why, until one day when their intentions were finally realized. They were hunting sabers for their pelts. The brighter and more colorful a tiger was, the more often he or she found themselves encountering the hairless apes and having to defend their life. The apes had already proven they would keep returning no matter how many times they were attacked, and the tigers were losing more members of their pride than they cared to admit.
It was time for another difficult decision. The pride had grown close to one another, but it seemed the only way for the apes to leave them alone was for there to be no reason for them to return. That meant kicking out all members with bright and colorful pelts, and no longer attacking the apes out in the open where the tigers would be seen. Hearts were broken, tempers flared, and claws struck against fur; but, eventually the pride settled on the course of action. If they were to survive and keep their valley paradise, they would have to say goodbye to longtime friends and family members. It was a bitter day for all.
Many seasons passed with the tigers conforming to these new rules, and every season the apes appeared in less and less numbers until eventually they stopped coming at all. Relieved at the success of the plan, the tigers settled into a normal routine, having grown exceptionally close to one another through the turmoil and anxiety. Its taken many generations, but eventually the pride grew into what it is today: a selective group of tigers that allows only those with the right attitude and the right pelt colors to join its ranks- for the safety and betterment of the entire pride.

[Ranks] Leaders of the Pride[Boss] - Always a male saber who has bested the previous leader in single combat during a Time of Challenge. Believed to be the strongest warrior and head of the entire pride. The Boss must put the whole pride's benefit before himself, and will personally protect against any threats that may arise during his reign. However, his style of ruling may differ from those that came before him. It is not uncommon for Boss sabers to use fear and intimidation as tools to keep his pride in check, but that is not always the case.
[Seeker] - Always a female saber who has shown exceptional leadership capabilities during hunts. It is typically her fellow females that raise her to this status, thus she is trusted to coordinate daily hunting trips as well as participate in as many as possible. She is referred to as 'Seeker' because she works closely with the scouts and escorts, gathering information on herd movement and individuals within the pride. She often holds council with the Boss, keeping him updated on issues that may arise during hunts or just around the pride in general. Male Ranks[Escort] - The elite warriors of the pride. They are battle-hardened fighters that have proven their worth in the eyes of the Boss. Escorts have the very important job of accompanying groups of females out on hunts, defending them from outside males that may wish to steal them away from their home, or other species on a rampage. An escort may also jump in to help hunt if it is particularly dangerous prey, and will almost always help drag any kills back to pride territory.
[Guard] - Default adult male rank. The main body of the pride's males spend their days training against one another to keep their combat skills sharp and ensure that the pride is prepared to defend itself. It is a guard's responsibility to patrol in and around pride territory, accessing possible threats and eliminating them if necessary. Their top priority is the safety of the pride, no matter the cost. Female Ranks[Scout] - A huntress of a completely different variety. Scouts often work alone, using stealth and wisdom to track the movements of herds and predicting the best hunting spots. Along with bringing this information back to her pride, she may also be the first to discover any encroaching packs or prides into their territory and will share this with the Seeker. Because she works alone, a scout must be capable of defending herself as well as surviving on her own for days at a time. A highly trusted female revered by the pride for her bravery and cunning.
[Huntress] - Default adult female rank. As their title suggests, adult females provide the pride with a constant supply of food. They work together in small groups to bring down large prey, coordinating their ambush tactics and using their strength to wrestle and bully their target to the ground. Let it be said that these females are by no means weak, and though they aren't considered warriors, they are highly skilled killers specialized in pinpointing weak points and using team work to overpower any opponent. Unisex[Warden] - Male and female members of the pride that are usually too old or injured to carry out their usual responsibilities; others may simply be well suited for the task. They are in charge of caring for the young when their parents are tending to their duties, and make sure none of the cubs wander too far from the safety of the pride's home. Though they are unable to help the pride in its day to day chores, they find other ways to help their fellow sabers outside of watching cubs. This can be story-telling, advise-giving, match-making, or anything else the saber is particularly skilled at.
[Cub] - The youth of the pride. They are not allowed out of pride territory, and are watched over carefully by the Wardens and their parents. Young sabers are taught all about the pride's beliefs and their way of life, as well as educated on what their responsibilities will be when they reach adulthood. Male cubs will grow into guards, and females into huntresses. For this reason, older cubs are often watched over by adults of their gender in order to gleam information from their mentors.

[Lifestyle] BeliefsColor Bias - It is a long standing belief of the pride, all throughout its many generations, that bright colored pelts attract too much attention from other predators and tribes of humans. In the past, there have been attacks on the pride by human raiders wishing to obtain those beautiful, colorful furs for themselves. From then on, every Boss has banned and exiled any saber whose coat attracts too much attention, favoring instead the natural earthy tones that help them stay hidden. Any saber born into the pride with a colorful coat will be chased off as soon as its able to fend for itself; whether that be adolescence or adulthood is usually up to each Boss to decide.
Gender Roles - Though each gender has a specific responsibility to fulfill within the pride, that is not to say that one is considered weaker than the other. Females are particularly talented at hunting, and a male's larger, heavier frame makes him a more skilled combatant. On the whole, both genders work together for the betterment of the pride, providing each other with whatever assistance they may need. This is particularly apparent in their belief that every group of huntresses should have an escort tag along with them on hunts, as a way to keep the pride feeling protected at all times, even while outside of its territory.
Leadership - One male to rule them all! The Boss is considered to be the strongest warrior the pride has to offer, and has won his position through quality of leadership and besting the previous Boss in single combat. Leaders of the pride usually stay in this position until old age, when he declares a Time of Challenge, wishing to retire from his reign. A Time of Challenge may also be evoked by the pride at any time if a Boss has proven to be an inept leader, unworthy of holding the title. When a Time of Challenge is declared, all adult male sabers are encouraged to participate, to ensure the strongest of them has the chance to become the ruler. Gathered at the center of the pride, the males have a full scale Grand Melee event, beating out their opponents by any means necessary. Its rare, but sometimes males do fight to death in this event, even though most bow out as soon as they become to injured to consider it worth fighting for. At the end, there is only one saber left standing, having scrapped tooth and nail to come out on top. The winner is allowed to rest and recover his strength, up until 7 days have past, after that he must challenge the Boss to one-on-one combat. It is a ceremonial rite, and if he wins he inherits the title of Boss. If he loses, other male sabers confident in their ability may challenge the Boss during this time, but they must be of escort rank.
Other Species - The sabers of the Volcano pride do not like competition when it comes to territory or prey. Dire wolves most of all are not tolerated, as they often travel in packs and could potentially be a huge problem for the pride. On the other paw, bears are approached with a little more caution, as the sabers are reluctant to allow a single bear short passage into their territory, whereas a group of them may pose a serious threat. But most of all, when it comes to humans, the pride has taken a 'we leave them alone, they'll leave us alone' stance. They've had problems with humans in the past, and it is forbidden for a saber of the pride to interact with them; for fear that doing so might lead the hairless apes straight into pride territory. BehaviorDowntime - What sabers do when they're not hunting, patrolling, sparing, or raising cubs is their own business. However this is a social pride, and its not uncommon to find its members relaxing with each other, chatting, swapping stories and gossip, or simply enjoying each others company. So long as it doesn't get anyone in trouble, pride members can pretty much do anything they want to, and are not restricted by rank. A favorite activity of the sabers is to take a dip in the hot-spring, a pond opposite of their drinking water that's heated by the lava flow underground.
Mating - Its very rare for the sabers of the Volcano pride to mate for life, but not unheard of. Typically sabers of all ranks are allowed to fling with anyone they desire, and may change partners all throughout their life. Resulting cubs are cared for by their parents, and the pride as a whole, taught of the comradery of the pride at an early age. On some occasions a saber may find a non-pride member desirable, this is more common with males than it is females. However, a female is allowed to seek an outside male, so long as that male does not follow her home, otherwise he will be chased away by the guards. This is risky for the female though, as any cubs born with colorful coats will by cast out of the pride when they grow.
Outsiders - Rogues or sabers belonging to another pride are looked at with a good deal of mistrust and sometimes hostility. The Volcano pride is very protective of its resources and its members, and they will likely chase away or harass any other saber that steps foot into their territory. If a rogue expresses interest in joining the pride's ranks, the issue will be brought to the Boss so he is aware of the situation. The rogue then needs to prove he or she is willing to work with the pride and pull their own weight, otherwise they will be sent away. Sabers with colorful pelts will automatically be denied a spot in the pride. Living ConditionsThe Volcano - The pride's main living area is situated on the backside of a dormant volcano. The side facing the pride is very high and thick, with the opening to the volcano on the opposite side of the mountain further down its trunk. In essence, the pride is protected from its fiery wrath by a natural 'shield' if ever the volcano decides to erupt. Surrounding the volcano itself are high ridges and mountain walls that form a semi-closed off canyon valley.
Resources - A cool river from the peaks of the icy mountains flows down into the valley year round, thanks to the heat from the volcano that melts the snow. The area is warm and soft with lush grass despite the surrounding area being partially covered in snow and ice. It is a paradise for the sabers, protected by high walls from chilling winds, and heated by the lava flow under the surface. Closer to the volcano mountain is a pool of collected water that flows in a small, constant waterfall (snow melting from the top of the mountain). The pool is warmed due to it proximity to the volcano, and a light veil of steam is seen coming off the surface as the waterfall strikes it. Outside of the pride's hidden paradise is a cold wilderness, where prey beasts are subjected to the change of seasons. When the cold is at its worst prey may be scarce, and the pride more protective of its territory from outsiders.
Areas - The valley is mostly one large, open area with plenty of space to go around and wander through. The main areas include the river, the hot-spring, and various dens (both private or communal) located in or around the mountain walls. The sabers are welcome to wander out of the valley and into the snowy tundra whenever they please, and always welcome back into the pride's circle of warmth: their volcano valley. Threats to the PrideFrom Within - One major offense to the pride is interacting with humans in any way, shape, or form. It is forbidden and punishable by the Boss. In the most extreme cases members may be exiled either temporarily or permanently depending on the severity of the offense. Ambitious or power hungry sabers that plot to raise themselves in rank through murder will be dealt with personally by the Boss, and possibly killed if he sees fit to do so. This is to ensure the most worthy sabers hold the higher ranks of leadership, and those of weak, selfish minds do not find themselves in power.
Outside Threats - Packs of dire wolves and tribes of humans are considered the most dangerous threats by the pride. Dire wolves because they travel in large packs and compete for food and resources, and humans because of their strange ways and their ability to hunt and kill sabers. When it comes to dire wolves the pride is on the aggressive, doing all they can to harass the canines out of their territory, and all out warring if necessary. When it comes to humans the sabers prefer to hide and stay out of sight, but if cornered will kill the hairless apes; especially if any cubs or females are threatened. No matter the threat, the Boss is usually the one to deal with it personally, making any decisions on what should be done and usually the first to go on the attack.

[Dice Rolling Events]
There are two dice systems for the pride to utilize, to be used as members see fit within their RPs, and during pride wide metaplots. The first is a simplified battle system, which is mostly used by the males for sparring, but the system may be used for females during RP if they have a score to settle with another member. These sort of RPs will not be regulated by pride owners, and can be used at any time. Below are the summaries and system specifics for Sparring/Battling and Hunting. Battle StatisticsCombat starts with both characters at full health. You can determine who goes first organically through RP, or you can assign numbers to the participating members. If two characters are about to brawl, one would have the number 1 assigned to its name, the other a 2. Rando between 1 and 2 to see who gets to go first. After that take turns going back and forth making attacks, rolling the battle dice assigned to each rank. The first participant to lose all their HP is considered 'defeated', and the other saber is victorious. There may be special rewards for victories in the future, be it recognition from the boss, rank advancement, or art drawn of your character.
*Note* Rolling a 1 on an attack is always a miss, otherwise the number you roll is the amount of damage you do to your opponent.
Warden - 10HP, rolls 1d4 for attacks. Huntress - 15HP, rolls 1d6 for attacks. Scout - 20HP, rolls 1d6 for attacks. Seeker - 20HP, rolls 1d8 for attacks. Guard - 25HP, rolls 1d6 for attacks. Escort - 30HP, rolls 1d6 for attacks. Boss - 30HP, rolls 1d8 for attacks. Hunting MechanicsHunting is done by small groups of females about 2 to 3 members in size. This system does not need to be used for casual RP unless you want to, but will most definitely be utilized during ORPs and Metas run by the pride. Simply roll 1d10 and RP out the result below, the prey is caught when someone rolls a 10.
Rolling a...
1-3 is a blundered attempt. 4-7 is targeting the prey. 8-9 is grappling with the prey. 10 is a kill.

Sign Me Up! Saber Name: Fawnfur Desired Rank: (I dunno!) Personality Blurp: Fawnfur would be a bit bubbly and excitable female. She is more inclined to play and mess around then hunt. Which it to say you take her on a hunt; and your going to find every prey item has fled for miles from her noise. She is nosy and doesn't get personal boundaries very well. She believes everything should be a game and if your not playing then your not much fun or you don't know how. This would be quickly corrected. She doesn't hold grudges for getting yelled at but she can sulk pout and whine till someone caves, with boundless energy; don't expect it to be her. When she must take rein, she will. Her anger is like a brush fire, while dangerous and fierce; it quickly loses its fuel. If you happen to get on her bad side; be warned, her playfulness hides a very twisted idea of punishment and revenge. Brief History: (Have to think of a bit.. ) Original Member or Joining Rogue? Rouge, might be more fun~

Hmm, she's a bit of a toughy, I'll give you that. xD I'm not sure if she'd fit very well into the default rank of huntress, as you said she frightens the prey away by being noisy. She might be able to make it as a scout, so long as she can handle being by herself out in the wilderness. However, I think she'd be able to pull off being a Warden really well. She'd get to spend time with the cub's of the pride and play with them all day, and basically do whatever she wanted in terms of entertainment.

Sign Me Up! Saber Name: Crossfang Desired Rank: Escort Personality Blurp: Crossfang is an older male, devoted to his pride and its ways. He challenged for leadership in his youth, but has grown content in his position as he has aged. Crossfang is a bit stodgy and doesn't much care for new ideas. He really doesn't care for other predators or humans. He's aware that he has begun to slow down a bit, and isn't happy with that knowledge. When the times comes that a younger male might best him, Crossfang would rather die in battle than lose his rank or become a cubminder. Brief History: An original member that grew up in the pride! He was more ambitious in his youth and frequently sparred with other males. Nowadays he's content to escort the females of the pride on their hunts. Original Member or Joining Rogue? Original member!

Sign Me Up! Saber Name: StarwatcherDesired Rank: Seeker OR Scout Personality Blurp: Starwatcher is a quiet, unassuming and trustworthy feline. She holds herself and the females she works with to high standards - after all, the most important thing to Starwatcher is the youth of the pride. They are the future, and if they are lost then all is lost. Though she's never been a mother herself it is something she hopes to do in the future. Overall, Starwatcher is a female full of poise and grace with a ruthlessness that thrums just beneath the surface. Should her pride be threatened, she will throw down her life to protect them. She is not volatile, but she is unafraid of confrontation should the need arise. Brief History: Starwatcher was born into the pride and has seen the importance of family and the close bonds formed within a pride. She holds these values in high regards and will fight for her beliefs if need be. Original Member or Joining Rogue? Original member.
