Edward Elric is researching a way to get his body back when an unexpected thing happens. Someone activates the powers of a philosopher's stone on him and ends up dragging him away from where he was into another dimension. There he meets strange people who can mostly use great, magical like powers on their own. The only problem is that he ends up meeting the worst of these people. This person is Lina Inverse, a sorceress of the mighty Dragon Slave, who has somehow made a rather bad mistake. She had never wanted to bring Edward Elric to where she was, but revive the souls of some lost friends. Now the only thing keeping them from arguing with each other is their search for a philosopher's stone or its equivalent form.

A massive explosion heats the air as bandits beg for their lives. Among the blaze stands a young woman, her own hair the colour of fire itself. "You really think I'd let bandits get away? Don't be ridiculous!" The girl launches another fireball at the stragglers.
After the colourful show, Lina Inverse, or more appropraitly Lina the bandit Killer snuck away with a bag full of newly aquired treasures. She had to hand it to the barman, those bandits did have alot!

Edward Elric, a short young man with blond hair and blue eyes, woke with a splitting head. He was a State Alchemist for the country of Amestris, given the name Full Metal Alchemist, by his country's military for the auto-mail arm and leg attached to his body. He had received them after taboo practices of alchemy to revive his dead mother and save his brother from death as well. Unfortunately, now as he touched his head and felt the grass beneath his trousers he realized two things. One, his metal arm was gone, and, two, he had no idea where he was. He had been living a complicated life in Central City, the capital of his coutnry, but now the library he had been studying in had vanished along with his books.
Had someone opened the gate to another world? He could only wonder this as a girl with fiery red hair ran by him with a huge satchel of goods on her back. She was giving off a mirthful smile that awed Edward. Where exactly was he and who was she? Edward did not want to jump into anything too suddenly, but he felt he had to ask someone. So he stood up and ran directly in front of her and stopped.
"My name's Edward Elric! Where the heck am I! Who are you! What year is it is! And... Have you ever heard of alchemy!" Edward hated to sound demanding, but he needed answers fast and she was the first person he had yet to see. He was not sure if his alchemy could work where he was, but he could only hope that this was still the same world he lived in.

Lina could hear a voice, she skidded on her heel and turned at around. As a percausion her sword was drawn. She could see a young man his blonde hair matted. He didn't look threatening but Lina had to be sure. Elric? Odd name and what is this Alchemy he speaks of?
"You're a few kilometres from Atlas City." Lina said rather bluntly. "I hope you weren't trying to get some loot from those bandits back there. Because its mine!" Then Lina noticed that he was missing an arm.

Edward's eyebrows furrowed as he said, "I have no idea where that is..." before he stomped his foot down on the ground and shouted while waving his arms, "But I don't care about this loot you have!" He noticed the girl had a sword on her and was holding it in her hand, but Edward felt he had enough self-defense/martial arts training in the military to take care of that. What he didn't know is what else she could do.

Seeing him take a defensive posture, Lina sheathed her sword. "Sorry, kind of a reflex. " Slowly she approached Edward. "You don't know Atlas City. Its only biggest place in the northern provinces!" said Lina with a sigh. "I though Gourry was an idiot not knowing where we were when we first were here."

"I don't have a clue about this place, but I'm certainly not an idiot." Edward answered as he shrugged his shoulders. He now had a very strong feeling though he was not in Amestris anymore. The northern province of his world, where the Fort Briggs stood, was cold and merciless place. The girl's attitude surely fit those soldiers' descriptions, but she wore nothing like a State Alchemists' navy blue uniform and lapel.
He felt slightly irritant over being compared to someone he did not know. Especially since the girl, who had yet to introduce himself, had called this Gourry guy dumb. Surely, she could understand his situation better than this.

As he were talking, Lina could see two bandits from the corner of her eye. "Not again. Hey, didn't your boss just get burnt by a fireball back there?" Lina asked. "Looks like its your turn!" Lina makes her hands like shes going to draw back a bow. "Flare Arrow!" She cries launching a few burning missiles towards them.
Wiping her hands, she gave a snicker. "that ought to have taken care of them!"
"Names Lina, Lina Inverse" she said to Edward.

"I have no idea what you just did, nor do I know why you have such a name, but you do know how to get rid of annoying people." Edward noted as he walked over to her and watched the bandits start to run in terror. "If I had my alchemy I suppose I could do the same thing, but just wait here a second."
He started into a run and dashed off towards one of the bandits who was lagging behind. As he reached him he jumped into there air and punched him in the back of the head. The bandit sailed forward three feet before slamming into the ground as Edward landed on his back in a crouched position. "Serves you right for running away." he told the bandit.

"He throws a wicked punch..." noted Lina with a hint of interest. Lina dashed to where Edward and the unconscious bandit. Noticing the pouch handing from his belt she snapped it up. "I think he's had enough."

Edward stood up and grinned, yet noticed Lina was taking something from the bandit. His face became very serious as he reached out his hand and grabbed the hand holding the pouch. "It's not good to steal." he told her sternly.

"He probably stole it from someone else in the first place! Its only fair that it should go to a new owner" Said Lina pulling away from his grip.

"Fine, but don't come crying to me if other people get the wrong idea like I did." Edward's eyebrows furrowed and his his eyes turned into glaring red color as a big frown covered his face. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and muttered, "Just lead me to Atlas City. I still have no clue where I am."

"This plane has no name it seems, even to a sorceress like me" Lina said. Pointing east she said "That way lays Atlas City, centre of magic in the world. Also the foods delicious!"

Edward cocked his head towards the east and said, "I don't believe in magic, but if you say this world has it I might as well find out how it works in Atlas. Did you also say there's food there?" His mouth began to water at the thought of food. He could go out for a giant ham right now since the last thing he remembered when he had been at Central City's library was it being near dinner time.
