Electric Dreams
Valentines Day and Singles Awareness Celebration!

Corey was never the sort to let an opportunity to make money go by, so even if he was once again (perpetually) without a Valentine himself, the thought of capitalizing on the holiday brought a smile to his face. Sure all the stores sold nice gifts and things, but he offered a fun date night! Cooler then a movie and about a billion times more fun then dinner in a fancy restaurant if you asked him!

Some minimal decor had been added to the store but it wasn't overwhelming, most of it hearts with silly video game puns both tooting the wonders of romance or poking fun at it. A few of the small tables were a little more decked out with red ribbon and a small vase of flowers in the center, but the majority of the arcade remained business as usual.

The normal thrum of techno music and video game noises filled the air, accompanied by the scent of snack foods lingering from the counter. The first floor contained a large collection of the most popular arcade games of all different sorts (Dancing, band, shooting, fighters, racing, skeeball, and general ticket mining games). The doorway behind the counter led to the large two story laser tag arena, with new games running aproximately every 20 minutes. The second floor contained more of the classics old school games, an air hockey table, and a small collection of pinball machines.

Expecting increased traffic more staff then usual was present including the owner Corey manning the front counter (for token, ticket, food purchases) and others running the tag games and generally milling around to make sure that everything is running smoothly.

Signs boasted the special sales of the day, which were also prattled on about by the cheerful and boisterous owner when anyone approached the counter.

Quote:
Hours of Event: 10 am - midnight
Type of Sale:
For couples -
* Buy one laser tag ticket, get a second one 1/2 off (for the same game)
* 1 free drink with the purchase of drink and food item

For singles -
* Spend $10 in tokens, get an extra $2 in tokens
* Luv Suxs cookies (large sugar cookies with some silly anti love message frosted on them) $1

Anything Special Going On?: Looking for some place to take a date? Or maybe and would rather bury yourself in video games to ignore singles awareness day? The arcade has something for everyone! The hours have been extended for the day with a handful of different sales for everyone. There are even a few special games of laser tag that have been themed and set up as couples versus singles!

Notes
1) Feel free to interact with my character (Corey) if you like! He can be lightly god modded (as long as he's not giving away free stuff or insulting customers!) or you can quote me and I'll attempt to give you some actual responses. :3
2) You don't have to be a couple to purchase the couple specials or single for the single ones.
3) Have fun!
4) If you post in this thread with at least 250 words you can use it as an entry in the Valentines raffle!
5) ????

Couples versus singles Laser Brawl

Just to give you guys a little extra something to post with if you like I'm running a tiny little mini game. There is not a whole lot to it and it's more rping fodder then anything, but your character can ICly win some stuff too, so yay!

So what is my character getting into?
Really it's just a regular game of laser tag, only with a tiny twist. Playing off the constant 'fight' of valentines day versus singles awareness day singles will be pitting off against couples with the team that scores the most bringing glory towards their love or anti love status. Winning team will get bragging rights, but one player on the winning team will also win a free drink and game of laser tag.
*see the IC prompt below if you need some general information on how laser tag is played/the setting*

How it's going down (OOCly)
1) There is no limit to the amount of people that can post/participate as long as you post in time.
Because of this, I may need to do some fancy math to match the teams up in number if there is a large discrepency. This doesn't affect anything you need to do and is just fair warning.
2) When you make your first game related post please mention if you will be joining the SINGLES (yellow) team or the COUPLES (red) team. (Your character's date can be a NPC, it doesn't have to be an actual character). Also please mention if your character has ever played laser tag before.
3) There will be three dice rolls occurring, so just follow the rules for the dice roll! You need to do all three rolls on time to possibly win the prize, but if you miss one your points will still count towards your team and you can still use this rp for growths and/or the Valentines raffle!
Schedule of dice rolls
I've removed the contraints! You can roll all three of your rolls at any times as long as they're all rolled by Sunday night at 11:59pm CST.
4) Have fun and play nice! There can be a little trash talk of course, but please keep actual brawls to a minimum and keep insults IC.

Have any questions? Feel free to ask via the thread in OOC brackets or pm me. :3

As the players entered the dark room they were greeted with rules written on the walls, illuminated by the black lights that also lit up the clothing of anyone foolish (or ballsy) enough to wear light colors. The rules were simple enough, but were nonetheless repeated by the grinning man, who spoke with overly excited flourishes of his arms.

"Welcome to our first ever Couples versus Singles Brawl! Fight hard for your team, or just have some fun, your teammates probably won't raz on you too hard if you suck a lot." He gave a playful wink to that, seeming to snicker at his own lame tease before cocking his finger towards the glowing rules.

"Rules are simple. No running. Quick walking fine... Probably won't even call you out on a little bit of light jogging. But it's pretty dark in there with inclines and declines, so running is for your own safety oh! And for not bowling people over. No climbing on or destroying the scenery please. I spent a long time on that stuff. And no hiding your lights like a bit old cheater. You need to keep both hands on your gun anyway but if I catch you like.. trying to tie clothing over your vests you're going to get tossed. No refunds."

"Basically this is for fun, so let it be fun! Don't worry so much about winning." The words seemed like blasphemy to Corey, who had always been super competitive in the game and pretty damn good at it too. But there were quite a few faces here that looked like rookies, and the best way to ruin someone's first time was for someone else to be an overenthusiastic a*****e.

After asking about questions the players were led to the next room and doned with vests and guns.

"You should aim at the glowing lights you see on players of the other team. There are targets on everyone's chest, back, shoulders, and gun. To fire your own gun you'll need to use both hands. One on the trigger and one on the front of the barrel." The guns were pretty long and of a medium weight, enough that the proposed way of holding it also turned out to be the most comfortable and practical.

"Games run for 16 minutes and when the time ends a voice will tell you to return to the front. So get out there and kill kill kill!"

The final door swinging open lead out into a large arena full of twisting hallways and platforms. There were two stories (and some platforms that would take someone up about half a story). Faux trees, barrels, and other small items also provided cover for those who were looking for it, with a few mirrors scattered here and there for added confusion. The room was dark and filled with light billowing smoke, but easily illuminated by the strobe lights, black lights, and a smattering of glowing paint decor on the walls.

Players had 30 seconds to lose themselves somewhere in the maze before a computerized voice declared the start of the game and the air filled with the sound of vaguely familar videogame tracks and techno.

While a game of laser tag wasn't appealing, some single person video games did.

Orah couldn't help grinning as she walked into the arcade, a jingling in her pocket adding a little excitement to the already festive atmosphere. To help support the Main Street event, she had decided to leave the flower shop work to her dad and brother and go see what was happening with the other shops in the vent.

Some of the businesses weren't ones she could get into... She was underage for one and visiting another flower shop was just silly, so Electric Dreams had been the ideal starting place. Offering a bright smile and some small chat to the man behind the counter, she exchanged her money for some tokens and wandered off to find a game to play.

Almost immediately, she was drawn to the dance games. She'd prepared for this, pulling out her sparkly sneakers for the occasion. No heels or skirts today! Just a comy sweater and stretch jeans, giving her freedom of movement for the game she loved to play. A couple of tokens in the machine and she was up on the plastic and metal pad, poised on the balls of her feet as she chose her favorite song...

As the music started up, the teen jumped from button to button with ease, the difficulty she'd chosen setting a nice pace she could keep up with. This was going to be a marathon, not a sprint, so she needed to start out easy. Up, Down, Left, Right... bouncing, Orah grinned as she hit each button in time.

((Hey Blue!

Just dropping this off before work))

ROLL 2

Are you participating in the optional game? Here is the info for your second roll :3.

It's been a few minutes now and things are really heating up. You've probably been tagged yourself at least once and tagged others as well. The more exhubrent players might already be sweating, but even those not taking it so seriously would likely find their heart beating a little faster than normal thanks to adreneline.

You've finally got the swing of thing, in the heat of everything!!

Now who knew that one could spend almost half of the entire afternoon from what was initially intended to be a simple trip down to the flower and candy shops, leaving both Hafwen and Mercy barely enough time to drop off their purchases in the latter's room before they had to head out again so as to not keep Melinda waiting for long at the entrance of the Electric Dreams arcade.

The older girl was the one who had texted her about meeting up on the day dedicated to the celebration of love and the blue-haired teen was the mastermind behind the suggestion of a threesome date, which the former amusedly went with of course, given that she couldn't bear to abandon Mercy whom she already had made plans with for the day. Melinda was a really great girl and she was sure that they would be able to get along fine.

Of course she had conveniently left out the word 'threesome' when she checked with her bestie if she was fine with another person joining them on their date later on that same afternoon prior to setting off. The 11 year old certainly didn't need to be made aware of certain scandalous terminologies like that... yet. Hopefully not ever for that matter and definitely not from her own mouth at this point.

FINAL ROLL

And here is the last roll! As you can see I've totally pulled out the time limitations so feel free to roll all three rolls at any time (before Sunday 11:59pm CST) if you'd like to participate.

That computerized voice has been calling out from time to time, updating which team has eeked ahead of the other one in pretty frequent intervals red yellow, red yellow. The finish line is clearly near and everyone is acting like it, putting on their A game. It's the final push, give it all you've got!

Please roll 2 6 sided dice (the smaller of the two numbers will be subtracted from the larger number)

Finally exhausted and panting, Orah left off the dance machine with a satisfied bounce to her step, her calves and thighs burning pleasantly. She might not be the best dancer out there, but she did well enough to make it fun.

With a good handful of tokens left, the brunette moved on to the next game in the arcade. Which she didn't have any other games she particularly wanted to play, it was still fun to wander about and drop tokens into games that caught her eye. Shooters, street fighters, skeeball... all got a turn as she made her rounds. Most of Orah's time (and her tokens) was taken by the pinball machines upstairs. The movie themed ones were particular favorites, as were any that had lots of paths for the ball to take. It was hard to be really skillful with a pinball machine, but you tended to get a lot of extra balls and extend your play.... which was why she tended to like them more than other games.

The last stop of the visit was to watch the laser tag game. Orah couldn't see everything going on over there, but it was still fun to watch what little she could. Laser tag wasn't really her thing, especially not alone. The teen wasn't really all that physical, despite what she did at night, but that didn't mean she didn't enjoy watching others do it. The laughing and shouting where fun to listen to. Watching people dash about had her laughing herself.

After a while, she finally headed for the door, waving to the owner as she left. It had been a lot of fun, something she hadn't gotten a lot of time for lately between the extra work for the store and patrolling as a senshi, on top of what she normally did for her chores and school work... Spending some time just being a teenager, not worrying about anyone or anything else, had been very therapeutic and energizing. (even if she was tired from dancing around)

Orah left Electric Dreams with a bounce in her step and a smile on her face.

It had been a while since Rosa had played laser tag. Way too long, in her thinking. She'd been so busy being responsible - yuck! - that she hadn't had much chance for fun. At least, not beyond solitary activities like reading. This promised to be a nice change of pace, even if it was a Valentine's Day-related activity.

Holding her laser gun before her, Rosa whooped as she jogged into the darkened room, waiting for her eyes to adjust before she began scouting the perimeter, looking for a likely place to play sniper from. Finding a nice little corner ramp with a wall that had a couple of cut-outs, she settled in and looked for a red vest to shoot.

With the money she'd rightfully earned scrubbing the kitchen floor, Sirsce was armed and ready to enjoy the Valentine's Day specials going on within Destiny City. The evening was young, and she aimed to come home only when the stores closed. Luckily she'd seen a variety of posters advertising Valentine's events from some of the local shops; otherwise, she would've wandered aimlessly looking for a prime way to celebrate her triumph over grimy floors.

Sirsce's first stop was a relatively muted arcade, aptly named Electric Dreams. She was curious as to why the shop only bore minimal decorations, but for a place of business that provided an escape from reality, she supposed the décor didn't matter. Still, she was anxious to see what kinds of games they housed inside, and how poorly she would perform against other people. Though not really a gamer, she did enjoy her share of dancing games.

Upon entering the building, she was greeted by a cacophony of sounds and symphonies, accompanied by an array of flashing lights. Many arcade games, from old to new, lined the wall and provided ample entertainment to couples and individuals alike. Sirsce set her sights on a particularly popular game in the center of the floor: a dancing game sporting a significantly long line to compete. However, before she could happily line up and burn half her evening away with wait times, she desperately needed tokens.

Right, tokens... Um, where would they be? Once again Sirsce scanned the room, looking for some kind of machine spewing tokens, or someone handing them out. Her gaze settled on the front counter, which had a variety of decorated posters explaining the day's specials. Since she didn't have anyone else with her, she couldn't take advantage of any laser tag specials. What a shame; she never tried laser tag before. Then again, she could end up slamming into someone, or maybe the lasers actually hurt like flesh-melting death rays... Would they really have flesh-melting death rays here? Or was that against the law? She could never tell with places like these.

Regardless, it was time to buy those tokens, else the line will just get longer.

After standing about for a good ten minutes, waiting for her turn to buy tokens, she came face-to-face with the man selling them. He looked kind enough, but she wasn't in the mood for conversation. "Um, hi." Sirsce flashed a nervous smile as she forked over a crumpled $10 bill to the man behind the counter. "Oh, and I'd like some cookies too." After rummaging around her coat pocket, she withdrew two dollars' worth of quarters. Once she received her purchases, she set off for the dance floor.

As she lined up behind everyone else, she sighed in disbelief. Did the waiting line just double while she was getting tokens? "Goodness, I'm going to be here all night..." But at least she was prepared with sustenance. While slowly shuffling ahead with the rest of the crowd, she bit into a frosted sugar cookie and watched the dance game contenders eagerly.

Rosa had managed to snipe a whole two, maybe three people from her post before someone got sick of the sniper and a red shirt - er, vest - came to sniff her out. Being shot from behind was kinda disappointing to Rosa. Not like these other people knew it, but she was kinda of a fighter-

Nope, no, not thinking about that. Laser tag, laser tag, fun times, concentrate!

Stumbling to her feet, she jogged away from her shooter and into the fray, looking for a more central location while she was "dead." She found a nice barrel, pressed her back against it, crouched, and began shooting. She could almost shoot the reds' base from there.

Time was running out, but Rosa wanted it to last foreeeeever, because she was having fun. Pew, pew, pew! She darted away from her barrel, slinking along a wall as she sneaked toward the Red base. Well, tried to sneak; she was covered in glowing neon, after all. Wasn't too surprising that someone got a shot it before she could get to the base. What was surprising - and annoying! - was that the couple was dogging her and kept shooting her.

" Go aaaaway." She whined, breaking into a fast jog. She retreated behind her barrel, and thankfully she'd gotten far enough ahead that she was able to take out one of the annoying couple before the game ended.

" Awwww, phooey."

Sekani Fitzmartin strode into the event like he had been going to Electric Dreams his whole life -- which was a terrible lie, because this was only about his fourth or fifth time. He just walked around everywhere like that, or so some thought. The fact that this was technically a Valentine's themed event and he had no date meant nothing. There was fun to be had, at a discount! The webisode on black tea chicken for two with a side of exploding lov-a cake had wrapped up hours ago and that was enough romance one day. Seriously, it had taken him most of the time in between to get the cherry stains out.

He read over all of the special instructions for the evening and promptly took advantage of each sale. Each. One. Two drinks with his nachos (dinner) and cookies for dessert, extra tokens for $10, and a 1/2 off game of laser tag for the lucky lady behind him in line. (It wasn't completely impossible to pick someone up at an arcade, was it?) A few rounds of murdering zombies, mutants, and zombie-mutants gave his stomach enough time to settle for the more physically demanding forms of entertainment. Most importantly was LASER TAG. That was what brought him to Electric Dreams in the first place, actually. Sekani had first taken up the 'sport' at another arcade years ago, but that place's game had gotten weak. He was a casual, but not that casual. When he laid eyes on ED's expansive and engaging environment, he knew this would be his new arcade.

Purple eyes cut through the haze of blacklights and things that glowed in blacklight to spot a clock. Time to taste the sweet, sweet call of laser warfare. It didn't matter if he won or lost, really. It would be pretty hilarious if his team, the singles, won on Valentines, though.

After slipping on the 'armor' and testing his rifle, he took to the field. The gentle wub-wub of the arcade proper slipped away, soon to be replaced by more gaming-suited musics. He found cover behind a bush just in time for the start.

"WOLVERINES!"

Hiding wasn't his strong suit today.
