Mali's Shrine

Mali's shrine is on the far north end of the island. This shrine was made in honor of Mali who made the ultimate sacrifice to bring peace to Semesta. In this place, one can find comfort and guidance in Vatra. Here the sun always shines warm on your skin.

As the solder knelt in prayer to the goddess a soft melodic drifted to his ears. "It is not often that I see people of your line of work in here. What brings you to the temple on this fine morning?"

Behind Elias there now stood a young woman who looked to be in her early twenties. She wore an elegant blue silk dress patterned with woven flowing waves. Her long, midnight black hair flowed all the way to her knees and atop her head were perched two little lupine ears.

What was odd was how this woman had gotten this close to him without the seasoned soldier or his feathered companions noticing. What's more, this woman had not been visible upon Elias's arrival to the shrine. Yet now here she stood, but a few feet away from him with a small yet sly smile across her face. She continued to stare at him curiously with her vibrant yellow eyes as she waited for a response.

The girl continued to smile at the soldier. "Well, it's good to see the faith is being kept by those meant to protect us. I am here for much the same reason as you--to pay my respect to Mali. I must say I'm more of a follower of Maki, but both goddesses deserve their praise."

The wolf girl looked Elias up and down with her inquisitive yellow eyes before reaching some sort of conclusion in her mind. After that she spoke a little more. "...and I am also looking for a friend of mine. I figured she might have come here but I cannot find her. Perhaps, though, she went to other temple in search of me."

The wolf girl tilted her head in thought for a moment as she considered the question. "Hmm, I suppose I might as well. There is but a single ferry that runs the channel between the shrines. Our paths should cross if she travels here from Maki's shrine. Why do you ask, though? Do you care to tag along?" The wolf girl spoke in a sultry, playful tone, but her question did appear to be genuine.

The wolf girl covered her mouth with a hand as she chuckled to herself. She then continued on, still with her teasing, playful tone. "My, aren't you the humble one... No, I don't believe you'll be a bother at all. In fact I think I might enjoy the company."

The wolf girl looked up at Elias with her bright yellow eyes. The solider was a good seven inches taller than her and he dwarfed her petite frame. It suddenly became apparent to him that she had a fluffy tail the same color of her hair as it wagged softly behind her. "If we are to travel together then I believe introductions are in order. I am Fumiyo." The wolf girl gave a little courteous bow. "May I have the privilege of knowing who you are?"

"Oooh, so polite, an officer in the Vatra military no less; I thought you might have just been a mercenary." Fumiyo's ears twitched and with a teasing smile she gave Elias a salute. "Very well, Lieutenant Colonel Elias, let us depart for the shine of Maki. Perhaps along the way you can tell me the origin of your two feathery friends." Fumiyo gestured towards the birds. "Crows make for odd pets; I'm sure there must be an interesting story behind it."

With that last sentence the wolf girl turned and began to head out of the Shrine. She swayed her hips and tail sensually behind her as she walked.
