Pozar

. . . . . . .

The city is located in the northern regions of Vatra, not far form the Aria border. It is also Dunia's main connection to the mainland. Newly developed weapons come to Pozar from Lume for testing in an isolated location in the Zemir Plains. It is said that it was in Pozar that the Drygioni and Golau children were killed, sparking the War of the Skies.

Ryo Nakai

Ryo walked through the bustling city of Pozar and pulled his coat up. Everyone gave him a wide berth and threw cautious glances when they believed he wasn't looking. People in this city seemed more suspicious of strangers than most and he'd already been asked for i.d. several times. Apparently, from what he'd overheard as he made his way through, there was some assassin on the loose. Although why that meant they were searching everyone when they had clear pictures of the guy was still a mystery. Of course there was the fact that Pozar was where most, if not all, the Vatran military's prototype weapons were delivered to be tested. Even though there was peace between Vatra and Aria it seemed people were still a little nervous having a foreigner that close to secrets like those. Not entirely an auspicious beginning to his journey but he'd known from the start it wasn't going to all be sunshine and rainbows.
Spying an inn ahead he made his way over and walked inside. It was a brightly lit, vibrant looking place with happy patrons filling most of the tables in the front room. Some of them looked over at the newcomer before turning back to their conversations. Nervously he walked up to the front desk and waited to be served. A short, squat woman with more than a touch of grey in her hair and thick half-moon spectacles walked, if you could call it that, over to him.
"Hello there my boy, and how may I help you today?"
"Uh hi..I was wondering if I could get a room for the night please?
The woman looked him up and down before reaching under the desk and producing a key.
"You're not from around here are you? Well nevermind that, I won't have it be said that I turned away someone in need. That'll be 5 gold for the room for the night, plus meals. It's the first upstairs on the right. If you have any problems just come find me."
"Right. Thanks."
Ryo took the key and shouldered his rucksack before heading upstairs. Finding his room he unlocked the door and walked in, closing it softly behind himself. It was sparsely furnished with a bed, a small desk and a chair taking up most of the space. Tossing his bag beside the bed he flopped down on it and stared up at the ceiling.
"I'm free..."

There would be a loud crash coming from the room adjacent to Ryo, one that was loud enough to awaken all of the inn's residents. Should they poke their head out of the safety of their rooms to see the cause, they would see a young man dressed in a white, fur-lined coat pushing past the remains of a door he had just kicked in. Before he could get any futher into the room, however, a rain of small spears made of clay was chugged in his direction, forcing him to duck in a forward roll to avoid it. When he got back onto his feet, his target had created a hole in the wall separating his room from the young warrior's by parting the stones within it.

The man was a low-level rogue, but had been listed as a hazard due to his skills in manipulating the earth around him and his ability to blend into a crowd. He had stolen some valuable weapons designs and prototypes and, because of that, had temporarily pushed aside the threat of an assassin in the area until he was caught. Aiden had been hired to draw him out by charging headfirst so that the city guards waiting around the inn could corner him. The dervish was quite keen to finish this job since it was a test to see if he was worth hiring as guard for a Vatran nobleman heading to Dunia. The last person that they had charged in headfirst had had a few extra holes dug into him by numerous clay spears and crossbow bolts so they had opted to use an outsider, someone expandable.

The intruder had hopped through hole in one fluid motion, dusty dark robes dancing around him even as he molded a sword out of the clay he was storing within numerous jars. At the sight of Kai's longsword, he twisted about and made for the window in an attempt to jump out of it and onto the streets, but not before a click was heard and a small, spherical object from which a small cord was poking out of was dropped onto the floor. Said cord was a fuse and it had been lit in preparation of giving both fighters one hell of a firework and perhaps give the criminal enough space to leap out of the inn. He would have preferred to take a hostage, but he doubted that Kai would be nice enough to play the role and the city guards were not kidding when they said they wanted the designs back. It wouldn't be far fetched if they sacrificed a few innocent bystanders.

Ryo Nakai

Ryo jumped as a loud crash was heard outside his room. Rushing over to the door he reached out for the handle just as another loud noise emanated from the wall behind him. He turned to see a man in black robes leap through a hole in the wall and make for the window.
"Hey!!"
Ryo shouted towards him but was ignored as the man broke the window and jumped out. Running towards him Ryo failed to notice the flash bomb until it was too late. Flailing about and rubbing his eyes in pain he fell over his chair to the ground.
"Gah dammit!!"
Waiting for the white spots in his vision to clear a little he finally managed to open his eyes, without them burning, to find a man in white standing by the window, staring out, scanning the streets below. Ryo struggled to his feet just as the landlady pushed through into the room.
"What's going on here!! I run an inn not a playhouse."
Ryo shook his head, still too disoriented to really comprehend what was going on and pointed at the stranger.

Aiden had been too preoccupied with chasing after his target to notice the flashbomb as well. When it went off, he was forced to take a few steps back while covering his eyes to shield. When he finally regained his sight, his target had broken through the window and a loud clamor could be heard down in the streets while the local guards wrestled with the thief. When he reached the window, the thief appeared to have been subdued and forced into a kneeling position while a circular row of spears were pointed at him. Well, talk about anticlimactic. Oddly enough, the criminal did not look one bit worried. In fact, the scruffy ruffian was smirking, throwing taunts that were a bit too far for Aiden to hear.

"What's going on here!! I run an inn not a playhouse."

The shout finally had the mercenary acknowledge the presence of the miffed landlady and the confused occupant of the room. "A wanted thief was in one of your rooms. Surely, you do not mind some property damage in exchange of ridding you of such a pest. Unless you were purposefully harboring a wanted criminal," Aiden sneered as he turned to scan the room that had been assigned to Ryo for any other explosives or suspicious items.

"Wha...but-" the landlady started, confused and alarmed. She did not want to be associated with a criminal after all. "Who's going to pay for the repairs then?"

"Not my problem, but I'll be needing a room. Since it's already been paid for the night, I'll take that one," he said while pointing at the room next to Ryo, the one from which the criminal had burst in from even as he snooped around the room, stopping in front of the cook's rucksack. He picked it up with the tip of his sword, damaging the strap slightly as the weight of the bag bore down on the sharp edge, and turned to dangle it before Ryo. "' 's'this yours?"

Ryo watched the stranger swagger arrogantly around the room, treating the landlady like a servant. He stiffened when the new guy lifted his bag up, cutting one of the straps.
" 's'this yours?"
He narrowed his eyes at the man. The rucksack had been a gift from his sister, all that was left of his family.
"You're a rude one aren'tcha. Yeah it's mine, now drop it."
Standing up he snatched the bag back and tied it round his waist. Turning to the landlady he bowed slightly.
"Sorry to bother you madam, it seems my room is unfit for use. Is there any chance you have another?"
"No i'm afraid not. This was our last room in the entire building."
Ryo sighed, slumping his shoulders slightly.
"Man I finally had a decent bed..."
"I see. Well thank you anyway. I'll just have to find somewhere else for the night."

Making his way downstairs he passed through the front room and into the street. The man in black had since been led away and it was much clearer now. Stepping around the broken glass he started off down the road.
Pozar's a big city, there's bound to be somewhere I can stay the night.
As it turned out there were very little rooms in any of the inns in the city. Most of them were being taken by people attending some garden party on the island of Dunia in a couple of days. It was a pretty famous party from what he could gather, and his own nation was hosting it this year. Stroking his chin thoughtfully he made up his mind.
"Hmm guess i'll check it out then..."

Ryo's irritation left the sword wielder unfazed, but Aiden relented in letting Ryo snatch it back without making a move to stop him. The rucksack appeared to be tightly sealed so the criminal could not have had the chance to slip anything in. Ryo's confusion and shock had appeared to be genuine enough for Aiden to dismiss any suspicions that Ryo may have been an accomplice. Aiden quickly forgot about the offended traveler--what were the odds of meeting him again, anyway?-- and returned to scanning the rooms, both of them now that he was going to use at least one. He found nothing of interest in both rooms and the landlady assured him that all the items, even the broken ones as a matter of fact, in the rooms were indeed her property. After checking each and every nooks and cranies with the help of the city guards that came a bit after, Aiden was finally satisfied enough to come to the conclusion that nothing dangerous had been left behind.

Unfortunately, the criminal no longer had his precious package on him when he was arrested which meant that the case was not closed, he had been told. They were about to put the city in a lockdown despite the protests of many. The festivities of Dunia were something many had been looking for and Aiden had to agree with that since he had travelled so far to attend the blasted party. Fortunately, his employer relented that he had indeed accomplished his part of the deal so he would be hired as a bodyguard to someone with enough rank to be exempt of the lockdown.

Satisfied, Aiden had returned to 'his' room for the night. The door had been busted in and there was a large hole in the wall leading to an adjacent room with a broken window. Anyone could get in, but it wasn't as though Aiden had anything worth stealing apart from his sword that he would practically wrap himself around when he slept. Besides, it sure was better than sleeping in the streets.
