tabtabtabDawn Elizabeth Rider didn't have a happy start to life. Her parents where never married as she was the result of a drunken one night stand. Neither one of her parents could stand the other one but both wanted to take advantage of Dawn's existence for the government benefits they would receive. The custody battle was fierce and ended with the state awarding custody to Dawn's mother. The years that followed where hard on the tiny toddler Dawn. Her mother was rarely sober and exposed her child to things that where not only unhealthy but dangerous for a toddler to be around. It wasn't long before her mother's family got word of the conditions that Dawn's mother had her living in. A second custody battle then ensued, this time between Dawn's mother and her older sister Katina. Katina would be given custody of Dawn and took her to the opposite side of the country far from her abusive mother.
tabtabtabDawn's life from then on was much happier for the little red head. Her Aunt Katina became the mother she needed and thanks to years of therapy she no longer feels sad about her birth parents. Katina not only made it possible for Dawn to make it through middle school and high school as normal as possible but has supported her adopted daughter no matter what she choose to do. When Dawn was marketed Katina continued her support and even went so far as to help her move into her new home at the House of Night.

Dawn doesn't speak unless she has something she feels she needs to say. She will however open up to anyone willing to take the time to get to know her better and once you have...look out! She's a pistol! She loves to have fun and loves to smile. She'll go out of her way to improve your mood if you're feeling down. She's very caring and a loyal friend. She rarely gets angry or jealous and has been told that she is irritatingly empathic to the feelings of those around her.
