Name: Larque - (lark) French, ' l'arque ' meaning 'the arches', which can be related to the arch of a crossbow, but also has symbolism in transition, change, and support.
Skopos - (skoh-pohs) Greek; skopós (the root of the English term, "scope")
Blood colour: Green
Gender: Male
Symbol:
 Crossed arches.
Weapon: Bowkind, usually a wrist-mounted crossbow as his main weapon of choice, but isn't a stranger to long/short bows.
Personality: A rough-edged individual even at a young age, Larque is highly goal-oriented and business-minded in his dealings with other trolls. He has a hardy constitution and embraces the violence of his society, already making himself out to be a hunter, after his lusus' example. His short existence, so far, has been based on perfecting his aim and his combat abilities, partaking in an endless flurry of games and tussles with other trolls his age. He thirsts for the opulence of the higher castes (who he plans to solicit one day as a hired fighter/mercenary), but he also has an underlying sense of sadism and a love for the hunt.
Larque loves to fight and also has a great love for gambling. What better way to make a situation more thrilling than to make wagers or bets? He loves games of chance and isn't afraid to take risks, enjoying small card games as well as more violent activities. The added incentive or the threat of loss makes things much more interesting in his opinion, and he seeks out those who would play such games with him, as it is one of his main ways of having fun. His thirst for monetary wealth plays into this. Having more to bet with is always fun, and having beetles is easier than bartering. Larque enjoys money and loot because it's always been hard to come by in the ragged city of OHC, and if he was going to collect something it might as well have been something shiny and useful.
Larque has (currently) vague aspirations of becoming a mercenary of sorts, someday, eager to do the dirty work of those too weak to do so themselves, for a price. As such, he does acknowledge the hemospectrum but deals with everyone in the same way, choosing to do business with with an icily emotionless attitude unless he's treated a bit too badly. While he will be polite to clients, he is unwilling to lick the boots of highbloods and does not take well to being treated like a dog. Depending on how close he is to the party enacting the abuse, he may simply choose to cut ties or to begrudgingly deal with it, if doing the former will cause any substantial loss on his side.
He has a high level of self-interest. He will do business with anyone who can pay, and he will also do his utmost to fulfill agreements, but there is never any guarantee. Double crossing isn't something Larque likes to do, but if the benefit is great enough he will change his plans without a second thought.
[+] Flexible In a society like Alternia's, one has to come to terms with the fact that nothing is set in stone. Larque acknowledges such things and does his best to accommodate change, no matter how last minute it may be. If something goes wrong doing a job or even playing games, he tries to rework his approach so as to prevent the greatest amount of loss. He strives to adapt to any situation that's thrown at him, and he can often manage to keep a relatively cool head during fights.
[+] Perfectionist If there's something he sets his mind toward doing you can bet he'll get it done to the best of his abilities. He practices ardently with his crossbow and when the time comes to take a job he won't quit until its done. His determination is hard to derail and if he becomes involved in something he will go about it in the most efficient and thorough way possible. Though he won't usually lose his cool about it, he dislikes sloppy work, but will only strive to improve for next time if things go awry.
[=] Gambler He loves to take risks, simply enough. This has lead to many good and bad things over his short life, but he's so addicted to the thrill of it that he can't find it in himself to stop. Surprisingly, he is most often a good sport outwardly, even at a young age, recognizing the luck and skill of anyone who manages to best him, and hiding away any sort of tantrum for behind closed doors. He is usually a graceful loser unless the stakes are obnoxiously high, but it's rare to see any kind of explosive reaction. Similarly, he is not given to gloat or celebrate noisily either.
[-] Fickle Greed and beetles are what steer many of Larque's actions and decisions when dealing with other trolls. If he absolutely has to, switching sides or changing plans is always an option, if he feels the benefits outweigh the risks involved with backstabbing. He is less likely to do this to those he deals with on a regular basis (if anyone). He rarely ties himself down to a single alliance or cause, but will also try to build a reputation for being fairly reliable (as reliable as a hired killer can be, anyway).
[-] Exploitative Larque is out for himself and his own well-being, more often than not. This sentiment is only extended toward his lusus, who is just about the only other 'person' he feels loyalty toward. Therefore, he will do his utmost to use everyone and everything around him to his advantage if he has to to get results or be successful. He doesn't mind lying, threatening, or taking advantage others' weaknesses if he's able to figure them out.
----------------------------Appearance--------------------------------
Expression: More often frowny-looking or serious, it's not that Larque is always in a bad mood, but it takes a little extra to get him to crack a grin or laugh.
Hair: [x] [x] Thick cornrows/braided sections on the top of his head that leave several stripes of fuzz that are the same color as his blood. The cornrows are braided far back, but the rest of his long hair is loose and unbraided save for two thicker braids that hang over his shoulder. These have green string or ribbons worked into the braids. A couple strands of loose hair always find a way to fall over his face. He also has a sort of crazy sideburn thing going on.
Horns: Starting just above his ears, they follow the curve of his head, pointing back before making an upwards curve, pointing toward one another at the tips.
Clothing: [x] [x] [x] Ragged, black and grey, his clothing is ratty and held together by belts and strings and reflects his grizzled way of life. He wears a simple grey shirt with his symbol on the front and a black pair of pants with belts and bracers on his wrists and ankles. (pictures are meant to be inspiration as I am not quite able to draw clothing very well. they should be simpler in his child stage and his chest will be partially exposed as a teen/adult)
Important note: Like the contest entry that inspired this troll, he will have his symbol carved into his chest and have it partially exposed as a teen. This may or may not apply to his adult stage (we'll see)
------------------------------------------------------------
Lusus:
Mantismom, as she's usually called, is a horror to behold. A large lusus, standing at nearly fifteen feet tall, she is some kind of horrid cross between a gargantuan praying mantis and a pillbug, with tough, sectioned chitin covering her body. Her many legs grant her speed and mobility, allowing her to cover most rough terrain. Her claws also make scaling rough surfaces a breeze. Perhaps her most daunting feature are her scythe-like, serrated forearms, which she can use with deadly effect in both hunting and combat.
Mantismom is highly protective of her son, and as such they have a somewhat strained relationship. Larque has a healthy fear of his lusus, but is also secretly eager to make her happy. Her insectoid nature lends little to her personality, she is cold and distant and shows limited outward affection for her young charge, apart from keeping him alive and fed. If anything, she is brutally efficient and often violently savage, and those are the sorts of characteristics that Larque admires of her. She does not tolerate any kind of nonsense, and will not hesitate to punish her son (or anyone else) if she feels angered or provoked.
Home: Old Hemisect. Why Mantismom saw this as a ideal place to settle down is anyone's guess. They found an abandoned hive and modified it to their liking. While the hive itself is fairly normal and run-down, Mantismom saw fit to excavate tunnels beneath the old building to provide safer hiding places should they need them. There is an escape route down into the caverns from the upper hive that no one knows about. Larque spends a good amount of his time beneath the hive to be closer to his lusus, and several of the smaller tunnels have been furnished for his comfort.
Like many who dwell in OHC, he commonly hunts for and loots anything he thinks is valuable and could be salvaged to sell or use.
RECENT: With the rebuilding of Old Hemisect, Larque, like many, risked eviction from his home. Because the building he chose to live in was a hive beforehand (and not some type of commercial building), Mantismom was able to 'dissuade' the drones from kicking them out. On the bright side, they will be getting a renovated hive for no charge at all.

As a small note, the 'gambler' part in his personality is a neutral trait and can be removed if needed. Otherwise open for crit.

Hi Kami! Larque is looking really great, and nearly done, I don't see anything that necessarily needs changed. However, there are a few things I'd love to see expanded a little bit, for interest, and the sake of seeing further into his motivation/interaction with other trolls.
1. Is there a reason he's interested in wealth? It's one of his main motivations, but it's not mentioned if there's a specific reason for it.
2. You've got a good amount down about the hemospectrum, and you mention he doesn't take well to being treated like a dog by highbloods, but you don't mention how he would react if he was. Would he cut ties or something else?
3. You mention he loves gambling and the thrill of risk, but it might be nice to see how does he handles winning vs losing. He's addicted to the thrill, but how does he take unfortunate consequences?
Finally:
"Double crossing isn't something Larque likes to do, but if the benefit is great enough he will change his plans without a second thought."
"If he sees fit he has no problem switching sides or changing plans if he feels the benefits outweigh the risks involved with backstabbing."
The first mention of backstabbing says he doesn't like to do it, while the second makes it sound like he doesn't actually dislike it, per say. Is there a specific reason he does actually dislike it? If there is, including that reason would help clear up the confusion.
