tabtabtabBelieve it or not, I am not actually from Colombia. Yeah I know, hard to believe, because my obvious American accent totally does not give it away. Ahem, anyways. I was born around 1690 or so if I remember correctly, in what is now Virginia. A man at my age stops remembering the year or even the date of his birth. Vanity is not exactly something that applies to vampires after they turn 150 and realize they look the same as they did when they were twenty-five. I mean, sure after a while we do start looking old, but if we keep up our health, it takes a sure while for that to happen. I was marked when I was seventeen, I believe. I was not in a royal family but it was a powerful and rich family at the time. I changed all parts of my name when I was marked. After all, why would I want anything to do with the family that, even before I was marked, treated me like a dog. All they wanted was a daughter, that they got when I was ten. They called her Abigail, for "Bringer of Joy" as they said it derived from. I can honestly say that the 1690's were a lot duller of times than people are willing to tell about. All the powdered wigs and Shakespeare theatre. I enjoyed the 19th century much more than the 17th.
There were very few "Houses of Night" in my day and in America. Considering the land was still being claimed and made into a "proper" society. They were more or less like churches and monasteries. Either way, it was a relief from my previous life. I have not forgotten my old name but I would like to never speak it again and hope that my existence was erased from history. Life at the House was much different then than it is now, I can tell you as much. Our amusement and entertainment consisted of books, walks with friends, games on horseback, simpler things. Not video games or tv because those things did not exist in my time. I had a few friends at the school, but my main goal was simply to survive the Change and get on with my life. Nyx seemed to have more in store for me as I received my first affinity in my fifth former year. It was the affinity of Illusions. Thankfully it was not a great embarrassment for me when I slowly gained it. I had been reading a book and my imagination got the better of me as I was absorbed in the book. My roommate at the time noticed it first when he walked in to see things such as dragons and magic swirling around me as I read. "Eli!" He'd exclaimed. Immediately I'd looked up just as the pictures vanished. We'd had a High Priest at the time who took his time to explain my affinity. I took great care in learning to control my thoughts and the affinity and how much one tapped into the other.
My second affinity did not take hold until a few years after going through the change. A friend of mine from the House, actually the same friend who had walked in on my first affinity, and I were on a hunting trip. We both had our canine companions, Enjolras as mine and Cedar the hunting dog as his. We had been on horseback hunting a rather large buck when it kicked in. I noticed tracks that at the time I had not known were only visible to me. I pointed them out but my friend did not notice. The tracks came and went, fading when I was not concentrating and reappearing when I was looking for them. The moment the tracks led us to the buck and got us the catch of the year, we both had a feeling what was happening. We tested it out on different things, birds, humans, mice, all things I was able to track with concentration. In the process we had since traveled across France, that was where we were on our hunting trip. It was an exciting journey as we were letting it span on for a few years alone. Being vampires that had no firm standing job except selling catches from hunts or fishing trips, we had plenty of time on our hands. Rarely did we go back to America. We stayed mostly in Europe or the Soviet Union. My friend found himself a woman, another vampire, and married her in 1785. In 1789, the first war we were involved in was started. It was the French Revolution. I lost my best friend in that war. I'm not going to say what side I was on, because it does not matter. No matter what side you were on, you still lost too much. I left the war due to being put on leave due to injury. That and they took some pity on me and let me go to tell my friend's wife of her husband's death. She did not deal well with it. When I say that, I mean she did not last long with that news.
I left for a new land, new story, went I was fit to travel over seas. I told them I did not care where I was going so long as it was not France or America. So they took me to Colombia. There were many explorers there, but I found there was a different reason the land drew me there. Not long after I found the established House of Night in the country side, did I meet Miss Rose Cor Effrego. I knew it from the moment I saw her that I was to marry her, even if she did not yet realize it. We took it slow, but no matter what it would be too slow for me until I had her hand. Which did happen thank the goddess. It was not a few months after I swore myself as her warrior did I ask for her hand. Then, to my joy for her, she was given the position of High Priestess. I was there at her side and support through the process of her first few years of the job. I am still at her side to this day. Or night. Though I do have a lot of bad memories from my past I am very content with my life and the family I have at the House of Night. All in all, if I was given a chance to go back and change anything I would not change a thing.

tabtabtabI can be like a child at times, in the sense of being immature or hyper even. Which is true I suppose. One of my natural characteristics was my habit to flirt, that came at an earlier age. Only now I flirt with one woman alone. Call it what you want, I find it highly appropriate. I try to be less of a parent towards the students and more of a friend because I feel like it makes them more at ease at the School. I do, however, have some traits I am not so proud of. I have a very short fuse when it comes to battle or talk of wars. Sue me but I am touchy on the subject and would rather avoid it. I try not to get annoyed at people, sometimes they just don't know what they've done. I cannot help it though when they keep pushing and I give them obvious signs to back off. Eventually yes, I will turn mean and harsh and at these times very very blunt and truthful to the point it hurts. No, I will not sugar coat something if someone is being obnoxiously rude to me or Rose or someone important to me.
