The full moon was radiant tonight. Bright and clear it shone across Destiny City like a glass bulb turned up high, everything was trapped in its luminous glow. Humans, cats, youma’s – nothing could escape the tranquil light, not even if they wanted too. And for once Sailor Ate enjoyed the spot light it shined down. Shadows were always a welcome treat when stalking the Negaverse and for all that she could pack a punch she was as silent as a baby hippo with gas. Anything that could help her track down chaotic energies were a huge benefit, even if it was just a matter of hiding in the shade. This sort of night though did nothing to help her situation and instead of getting caught out within the first 5 minutes of the hunt she had decided to wait for the fight to come to her. Plus this meant she could smoke and think of everything she was going to eat when her watch was over – it went without saying that Ate’s recent patrols were less than enthusiastic. It might have had something to do with her laziness or her choice to abandon this court at a moments notice or the fact that she was indeed very gassy. Either way she wasn’t moving her butt from this marble fountain seat which she hadn’t realise at the time was soaking. If she ignored it, it was almost like she was sitting on the beach. A very cold, hard and highly polluted beach.
This night was off to a great start.

This night was not off to a good start.
Not only had she put off both chores and a mountain of homework to go patrolling tonight, she'd managed to run into a youma that had been too much for her to handle. Ida let off one of her attacks, but it hadn't worked and she'd managed to take her own beating before she had managed to dust the thing with her fists and feet. Physical type combat was not her favorite... she wasn't particularly good at it, which was why she'd taken a lot of her own damage, but it was also just... so up close and personal. It wasn't pleasant when the monsters could get close enough to actually touch you.
The senshi of flowers was feeling rather wrung out as she walked the streets tonight, hoping she wouldn't find any other monsters even while her sense of duty said she should keep looking, just in case. A couple of times she'd come on the youma as they drained someone and she just couldn't let that happen again while she could help it.
Stepping into a courtyard with a lovely fountain, she paused for a moment as she caught sight of its occupant. She was starting to recognize the fuku of the senshi, even if this one's design was different, and when she opened herself to feel it, she could sense a power signature, stronger than her own. No surprise there, considering how new to this she was... making her way cautiously, she continued into the courtyard, glancing from the other senshi around to the shadows, making sure she hadn't missed anything important.

The low ebb of energy tittered on the age of Ate psyche as she clicked her tongue in a familiar response, a little habit she had picked over the years as if to alert her mental self to the newcomer. She was getting better and better everyday at picking out almost instantly then energy code of the bearer, be they Chaos or Aligned. Before she would stumble, make a mistake and let certain people far too close for her liking and it usually meant a black eye or too. Now she could feel the clean fresh wave of purity radiating from the Senshi’s signature and she smiled to herself. When things changed would she learn to hate that aura? Would she feel the same about the mark of Chaos and welcome it as she did now for the White Court? She secretly hoped so, it would make all this torment just a little easier to bear. Her eyes flickered to the new Senshi and she took in the young girls bright fuku and dam exquisite shoes. It was times like these she hated the fact she couldn’t be in a pretty little number like that and instead be in what was aptly name the slut-dress by a nice agent she had met once. At least she got to keep some of his teeth after that encounter.
Allowing the last tendrils of smoke to escape her lips she waved a hand towards the Senshi beckoning for her to come closer, a sly smile playing on her lips as she sensed the young girls aura, bright and new and ready for growing.
“Well, well…What’s a pretty little thing like you doing out here all alone hmm? You do know there are some real naughty people out there in the dark, me being the ringleader of course?” She motioned around the yard with her lit cigarette, her smile growing as she leaned to one side looking the senshi up and down from an angle and laughing.
“Haha, not trying to freak you out of course, but you do seem to scream rookie!” She said the last word in her best American twang which for all sense and purposes was crap but it broke through her strong British accent like a knife. “The names Super Sailor Ate, I command pollution, you know the best sphere out there!” She added rolling her eyes. “And what gorgeous sphere did you embody to get that cute little fuku?” Seriously she wanted those shoes!

Ida's shoulders visibly relaxed at the friendly greeting, some of her apprehension leaving her. She had a feeling this was someone from her side of the conflict, both from the aura she sensed and the lack of offensive attack. She -really- hadn't wanted another life-or-death fight tonight and thankfully it looked like she was going to get her wish.
The compliments, though, put her off balance as she stopped nearby, shifting awkwardly in her cute little shoes. Sure, it felt good for someone to tell her she looked pretty, but it never really sat right. Like tonight, she was covered in dust and bruised all over... she certainly didn't feel 'pretty'.
"Um... yeah, I am a rookie, I guess. My name is Ida. My sphere is Orchids... what's why the bows look like them." She said as she straightened up, self-consciously adjusting her chest bow. "Your fuku is better than mine, though. I look like a little kid playing dress up." A shy smile crossed her face then as she dusted off her skirt, rocking on her heels.
"As for what I'm doing, well... I was patroling. You know... hunting down those nasty youma. It kind of got out of hand though... that last one was a bit stronger than I thought it was."

Never underestimate a good bruise that was Ate’s motto or at least Venice’s as she barely noticed the dark purple swellings in the light. She did after all play roller derby, a bruise had to be as big as your face to be considered painful in that realm and the dark marks on Ida did nothing to take away the delicate look that she personified.
“Pfft, please this tatty old thing? The fates were obviously having a laugh when they made me, they knew I would piss it off sooner or later and this is its revenge!” She tugged at her top in contempt as it clung to every curve she had. If it wasn’t for the bow and collar Ate would have been mistaken for the many hookers that worked down town DeeCee, she was just unlucky that fighting crime didn’t involve that as well…well not as much as she would have liked but that was beside the point! She started a slow walk around Ida as she took in the pretty colours and shapes, prodding here and there when she saw something interesting before standing before her, an almost dreamy look on her face. “Ahhh your as cute as a button! Ha-ha, we should totally trade fuku’s one day!” She didn’t really mean it, Ate was easily twice the size of the girl and would tear that thing in two! But a girl could dream, until she was snapped out of it by Ida’s admittance to what she had been up too.
“Patrolling!? You sure that’s wise on your own? Didn’t I just say there were some big bad wolves out there ready to eat cute little things like you up?” She said as if telling off a naughty school child. Her finger wagging mockingly before placing her hands on her hip and pursing her cherry lips together in disappointment, not that she was, this meant her night was about to get fun! Jumping she bounced towards the girl and held her by the arms in a friendly squeeze her eyes lighting up at the thought of what was to come
“You my dear, are in need of a crash course on Senshi training! Take me for example, I’ve had broken bones, cut lips, blackened eyes and a torn nail that took me weeks to get over and you know why?” She pulled herself over to gently whisper in her ear as if sharing a big secret. “Because it is rough as hell out there and I actually know what am doing and I STILL get the s**t kicked out of me!” She pulled back still holding her arms. “So don’t give me no ifs, ands or buts! Me, you, training alllllllllll night! What do you say?”

Ate's manner was overwhelming, but Ida couldn't help the grin that spread on her face. She was an odd one, but she liked her. She just couldn't help it.
The attention had her squirming away from the poking and she bit her lip when her arms were grabbed, watching wide-eyed as Ate explained some of the injuries she was sure to share in given enough time. The scent of cigarette smoke wrapped around her and just added to the odd feeling of the night.
"I...didn't have anyone to patrol with. I couldn't just... ignore everything, just to keep myself safe." She said softly, letting Ate tug her arms about.
"I would be thrilled if you would train with me. I've only got one attack left, though, and if I use it its gonna exhaust me." Ida rolled her shoulders sheepishly, feeling suddenly like a little sister getting advice from the older one. It was an odd feeling, considering she was the oldest child in her family.

Ate was use to making people feel awkward, dam she went out of her way to do it. So when any flinching or uneasy looks took over Ida she ignored them all and continued to dance the boundaries of personal space. Her smile though was heartfelt and sincere towards the Orchid Senshi, even though she was preparing to abandon this court, training the new scouts would be something she would sorely miss. It felt good to help them become stronger, faster, tougher and if anything meaner. Plus she loved sparring; any chance for a good fight even with newbies it was always worth it. You never knew when someone with real talent would come along and beat the crap out of you! It was safe to say Ate was a little unhinged in this department but dam she loved a good tussle.
“Aww gorgeous, your just what this court needs! Dedication, determination and being skinny enough to wear these outfits! Haha! But seriously, your safety should always be taken into consideration; you can’t help us if you dead in a ditch somewhere can you? So the first lesson is always be cautious!” She let go of Ida’s arms gently and started to walk towards the back of the courtyard, her hand motioning her to follow as she looked for a place they could practice. It soon showed up in the shape of an unused parking lot, a city centre first as it was 8 stories tall downwards. The city council had called it a work of engineering genius. Why clutter the skies when the ground was there for the taking! It had taken 6 months for them to scrape the project when they realised the cost of install high power air vents to stop people from well, suffocating down there came into play. Now it was sectioned off with high fencing and scaffolding as the work men slowly packed up and left leaving this new eyesore like an angry wound in the ground. But hot dam was it a good place to practice! On the way Ate had spoken about signature signs, when to approach and when to flee before approaching the soon to be building-work graveyard.
“When you sense a power signature higher than your own always be careful to check it out first, even if its pure. You never know who could be waiting around the corner. Just wait until you meet a Dark Mirror Senshi, their aura messed me up for a week, I had no idea who I was sensing! Friend, foe, my gramps! Who knew! Ha-ha - ohhh we are here!”
Grabbing the corner of the metal fencing Ate pulled it back creating a small hole in the corner of the fence. It had been obviously cut with plier’s days before and the ease in which Ate pulled it back showed it had been well used as an alternative entrance.
“Go on, get your butt in there. I wanna see your fighting style and if your up for it your attack. If anything shows up I won’t let it hurt you…well actually that’s a lie if I can’t beat it I am going to use you as a meat shield….”

Still a little overwhelmed, Ida followed along docilely as Ate led her to an abandoned construction site.
While, logically, she could agree that she needed to keep herself safe, part of her knew that when it came down to it she would probably always been the fool that jumped into the path of the bullet to save someone else. She just couldn't imagine sitting back and watching someone else get hurt when she could do something about it.
The comment about power signatures was curious though. "Why do Dark Mirror Senshi have such similar power signatures, do you know? I guess I don't even know what makes them different in the first place..."
The flower senshi eyed the opening in the fence as Ate pulled it back, feeling suddenly like a kid breaking into a place she wasn't supposed to be... granted the place was abandoned, but the fact that there was even a fence there said someone didn't want anyone inside of it. Shrugging, she dropped onto her knees and crawled through the rough opening, glad for once to have gloves on her hands. They might show dirt something terrible, but at least it gave her some protection from the ground.
Once inside, she reached back to try and help the older senshi hold the fence up as she came through in turn.

Sliding through the gap Ate moved with the grace of someone who had done this many times before, she didn’t even snag a curl out of place as she joined Ida on the other side, her smile thanking her for holding up the metal fence.
“Well it’s complicated and I am no expert - so don’t bet on anything I say! But from what I know they work for their own Queen, one that believes Earth is lost or evil, or something and she wants to reunite her Senshi and us back to our own planets, to sort-of save us, I think...” She wrinkled her nose in thought as she tried to wrap her mind around how to explain the confusing scenario, not everything was in plain black and white, the Dark Mirror court included. “Sadly they are like, crazy serious about it too so they’ve ended up working with Chaos to achieve their goals, collecting energy like the agents do, they play dirty so we have to you know, stop them!” She was leading them towards the centre of the compound before it struck her that she was creating more questions by not answering Ida’s original question. She stopped short of a powerful looking bulldozer that had been left to rust and tried to sum up her thoughts.
“But what am trying to say is that they aren’t controlled by Chaos as much as they work alongside it, so they are sill tainted a little…I think. But because of that their aura isn’t completely corrupted like a Youma or Negaverse Agent and I think that’s why we got so confused at the beginning, they looked like us, we sensed something different but we had no idea what and it wasn’t strong enough to work out. A lot of senshi were caught out at the start, now we know better.”
She failed to mention her super mega special friendship with one of them; she didn’t want to confuse the girl more than she herself was so forgetting that small detail was better in the long run. She had hoped she had at least answered some questions, even if most of it turned out to be incorrect. She had spoken the last part as she stretched out, her finger cracking as she pushed them out in front of her into an arm stretch, her body bobbing as she did a little jog.
“But knowing is only the first step, learning how to stop them is our main priority.” Or it was for now at least thought Ate as she suddenly realised she was training the soon to be enemy, at least she will forget, or so she had heard the stories being told. At least this way she will have a few good fights on her hands.
“Now when you ready come at me with everything you’ve got, just try and punch me on one of my symbols” She pointed to the bio-hazard sign on her hip. “That way I can see how good you are and how much help you need. I won’t hurt you but I will dodge and block, so common skinny, try and punch me up!”

"Oh..." Well that would explain a bit why Remarque had felt... different to her. She still wasn't sure what to make of him or his court, but the unease feeling she got from them was enough to make her take his words with a grain of salt. He had one view, and one view was not the whole picture. She was trying to be as objective as possible, while staying true to what her own heart and instincts told her.
Ida watched as Ate stretched, starting when she realized she should probably be doing the same. She winced as she felt her bruises again as she raised her arms over her head, arching her back a little to loosen up the stiffness that had crept into her limbs. She was really going to feel this tomorrow, she could already tell.
"Okay... I'll try." Finally, she settled herself into a sort of defensive stance, though it was weak and let her open in a lot of ways. Ida studied Ate for a moment, figuring out how she was going to go about this, before she rushed at her. Twisting, she pulled back her fist and then struck out, hoping she managed to at least brush something or she was really going to feel foolish. She was already a little tired though, and the move lacked a bit in the strength department.

Maybe it was a little cruel to get the new senshi fighting after being nearly Youma food but sadly Ate also knew this was the only way to get a scout fighting fit. You had to be prepared, you had to push your body to its limit and you had to dig deep when there were times you just felt like giving up. She watched her move into the pose that would defend her life and spotted inconsistencies with her balance right away, it wasn’t so much a bad pose but she stood to rigid and if Ate was actually fighting her for real a quick side swipe to her legs would have had her tumbling down. Her own body having known countless attacks moved to the right with sheer instinct, sometimes if she tried she could forgot there was a foot or a knife coming towards her and just danced out of the way. The scout’s fist caught her ribbon as it fluttered behind in the fast movement and Ate saw Ida’s back exposed and defenceless. She was tempted to pinch her bum but resisted just in time to instead tap her shoulder. She span slightly, twisting till she was behind her and waited until the girl had righted herself. “Nice shot! Remember; be lighter on your feet! Almost dance back on forth on them.” She did a little demonstration bouncing back and forth between her back foot and front with light springing steps. “You should watch boxing matches! They totally have the whole light as a butterfly thing going down!” She ceased her jumping and signalled for the girl to continue. “If all out fighting can’t achieve what you want maybe you should distract me with something else.” She winked knowingly but it could have meant anything coming from Ate, usually it was followed by a pick up line but in truth she was trying to read the girls battle skills and maybe causing a diversion and then jumping into the fray would be her best bet.

Ida managed not to stumble when Ate nimbly moved out of the way, spinning herself to try and minimize how long her unprotected back was exposed to attack. She could tell she was getting better at fighting, but she still had a ways to go. She might have gotten away with that move with Aventine, but the more experienced senshi was obviously also better versed in combat than the page.
"Oh! I get that saying now... the 'float like a butterfly' thing. It never really meant anything to me before." She said as she rocked onto the balls of her feet, her steps lighter. It made it a little easier to move too, getting her little gold heels off the ground.
Distract? With what? She didn't have anything to throw at her, and pulling the old 'look, over there!' trick was probably not going to work... But she did have one thing she could do. It was sort of a last ditch kind of deal, but...
"Beautiful Petal Darts!" She cried out as she tossed a hand at Ate. Flower petals follow in its path before spraying outwards like little glowing needles. Any that managed to pelt the older senshi felt like pricks with something sharp, but really didn't hurt all that much worse than a paper cut. Ida came in fast behind them, in motion almost before she managed to get off her attack, to level a punch to Ate's hip. She kept her strength out of it, looking to really just touch her and signal a hit.
She timed it well, managing to get through everything before she felt the sweep of tiredness take her over and slump her shoulders, dancing back out of the way on shakey knees. This... actually seemed like a good idea. Her attacks weren't strong ones, but they might just be flashy enough to distract someone while she put her fists into the fray.

Ate almost cheered aloud as Ida made the connection to perform her attack but for some reason getting hit with tiny jabs tended to steal the words from ones mouth! The gentle petals landed on her briefly before Ate realised the sensation of tiny pricks inflicting her skin. Like falling into a nettle bush the feeling was something Ate hated and didn’t want to repeat any time soon. It wouldn’t have defeated anyone of course but it was enough for Ida to run behind those flowing petals, shielded by them, to land a punch on Ate’s symbol. Her hip cracked back as the first connected and Ate took a second or two to gain her balance before she saw Ida stagger back.
“You did it!! YAY!” She hopped and clapped about before running over to the clearly tired Ida and before she could object to being picked up had swept her off her trembling feet and sat her down on a cargo box a few meters away. It was sometimes creepy how Ate was this strong, but then again she worked out her arms and legs constantly for roller derby, she needed to be strong even if it did take away some femininity. Not that she cared.
“Haha you poor thing! Sit down and rest, you look like a jelly! But that was really good! Did you see how your attack could be twisted into something new? Don’t depend on it to finish something off, but use it as a distraction. Even if it didn’t hit it’s such a pretty attack that someone will just stand there watching it and if it did land, DAM! Those things hurt!” She rubbed a spot on her arm that had the unfortunate pleasure of being hit with the majority of the petals when she had tried to protect her face. It was like a horrible little rash more annoying than painful but it had done its job well!
“You did real good, am proud of you newbie, I’ll make a killer out of you yet!”

Ida squeaked as she was lifted off her feet and deposited on a box, surprised by the strength Ate showed. Granted, she wasn't a large girl... being vegetarian meant you tended towards slender and she was pretty average in height... but the feeling of her feet leaving the ground was one she hadn't felt since she was a child and still small enough for her dad to pick her up.
Flushed and tired, she had to take a moment to regroup, deep breaths helping to calm her and recover from using her attack twice in one night. Still, she grinned as she sat, feeling embarrassed and pleased by the praised she received.
"I've never done that before... but I don't usually try to hit things physically. It was just sort of an idea for something to try, since we were working hands and feet." She said, nodding along as Ate explained how to use the attack, how not to depend on it but use it to supplement. Ida flushed again at the compliment to her pretty attack, reaching up self-consciously to push her hair behind her ears.
"I'm glad it worked. Thank you so much for helping me out tonight." She said finally, kicking her feet a little where they dangled just off the ground.

Ate shook her head slowly in gentle dismissal. “It was all you tonight cutie, I was just the little push you needed to get your mind a-thinkin, or it could be my fabulous advice, I am super cool after all!” She stood back for a moment and watched the young girl swing her legs like a kid on a swing and her heart was suddenly pierced with a deep loathing for herself it took her breath away. One day she would be fighting this girl, one day she could be killed by her hands and not because she would be following orders from Chaos but that she wouldn’t even remember they had ever met and Ida would just be another faceless senshi to kill for fun. Because that’s how it worked, you chose Chaos and it ate everything you were, everything you did for this court in one final sweep of its darkness.
And you were reborn.
But she couldn’t help but feel such deep upset for this that she wanted to hug the girl sat before her, she wanted to wish her good luck and that somewhere she would always be with her, whispering advice into her ear and giving her power before every punch. But she knew it couldn’t happen, it could never ever happen. And the thought brought tears to her eyes.
“Woah! I think I’ve got … some s**t in my eye or something….Uhh you cool to get home on your own sweetie? I need to go - go sort this out-t…” She squeezed her eyes shut and let the tears pour from her tear ducts on to her cheeks. Mascara leaving tiny black trails as she brushed them away. Her feet stepped back a pace before she turned completely round, her back now facing Ida as she continued to wipe her face. “You-u just remember to keep training ok? I’ll be keeping an eye-e on you, you better improve because you never know, you might have to face me one day!” Before she had chance to respond Ate was running. Running from Ida, running from her tears, running from the thoughts that swamped her mind. She ran and ran and she didn’t dare allow herself to look back, not even once.
Just in case she changed her mind.Bluefire Dragonz Ate is so charming leaving people in strange places they have never been before OTL;;
