It was time once more for the lunar new year, or Chinese New Years as some referred it to. Shun was relatively familiar with it, and he was amused to see some celebrations going on regarding it. What he didn't quite expect, though, was the fact that little red envelopes were springing up all over the place. He knew their purpose on a normal basis... but they didn't typically spawn.
No, they were usually given or received.
Warily, he stared at one before him, crouching down to try and get a better look at it.
1- You feel SUPER LUCKY. In fact you feel like you can do ANYTHING. Logic doesn’t matter, you’ve got LUCK on your side! You also found one gold coin WOHOO! 2- You feel like you are a snake. In fact you ARE a snake for the next hour! 3- Just as you think you’re going to get something- Boo :C! Someone opened this envelope already! You feel really unlucky. Best not try anything too dangerous like opening pickle jars and the like. 4- It seems that you find an odd gold coin. Maybe that crazy horseman knows what to do with it. You also have a strong desire to hiss all your 's's.

Careful. The voice was obvious, but where it came from couldn't be placed - since, if course, it was just coming from inside of his mind. The body of the speaker was actually up in a tree, watching the envelope madness with a wary sort of hesitance. Those things are dangerous. If you're going to open one, face it away from you.
Riley fell with a thump to the ground, landing catlike on her toes and straightening out. In her hands, she'd already picked up one of the envelopes, and it slid from finger, to finger, flicked across her hand.
Want to do it together? In case one of us explodes.
Shun was just about to reach for it when he heard a voice invade his mind. He paused, before looking up to see Riley landing before him. It looked like the envelopes had grabbed her attention as well, seeing how she was already holding onto one.
"We may as well," he said while picking up the one on the ground and straightening up, "These things traditionally have money within them."
He had his doubts that there were seeds in these though. The fact that they were just strewn about smelled sharply of traps.
It was likely really risky to be doing this, but he was curious.

I highly doubt it. She murmured with distrust. I'd be more inclined to guess there's some kind of terrible trick inside. Or glitter. Or both.
She ripped the top of hers open, holding it facing away from her, as far away from her as she could. When nothing happened, she turned it towards her and popped it open, shaking it until the gold coin fell into her hand.
"I did say traditionally... These may have nothing to do with the tradition," Shun murmured before taking a breath and slowly opening his. He was however, feeling rather lucky. And sure enough, he found a gold coin inside.
...
Well it wasn't exactly usable money but it was.. something. It was kind of awesome really.
"How fortunate. Makes me wonder if some of these things are rigged and we just happened to be the lucky ones."
He looked over the coin, wondering what its purpose was. Maybe it could be sold? Wouldn't that be extra lucky of them?

Would you look at that. She watched Shun pop a coin out as well, and shook her head. I severely misjudged these little envelopes based on what I've seen from others. There have definitely been some mishaps. She rolled her eyes and crumpled the envelope in her hand. Lucky, indeed.
One of Riley's tentacles rose up, very slowly, and it seemed to point in a direction. In the distance, the little setup with the man and his totems was visible. He'ssss- Riley's thoughts stopped, for a moment, her eyes thinned, and she glared before focusing harder. The one that'ssss-sssstop that. She was chastising herself for the ridiculous sounds her thoughts were making. She was actually getting visibly irritated. I asssssssssume thissssss little token of money isssss- for Jack's sake!
Riley was going to kill this man, if this was his fault.
Looking to see where she was pointing, Shun started to make his way in that direction before pausing as he heard... Riley... hiss? He turned around and stared at her as she continued to hiss out her s's. It seemed unintentional, which was rather odd considering she had no tongue to... hiss like that with.
"Oh great. These things were cursed after all?" he muttered before stopping again. He didn't hiss.
"Hiss. Hiss."
Damn. He really was lucky as all hell wasn't he? And he wasn't even one to usually put much stock into luck!

Sssstop it. She hit herself on the side of her head with the meat of her palm. Ssssssstop it. Again and again. Thissss is ridiculouss- I have to figure out a way to ssss-... talk. To talk, without that letter.
She let out a grunt of annoyance and waved Shun away. I'm going to go give thi.. the coin in. Tell no one of what happened. I'm ssss-DAMNIT.
There was something rather amusing in watching Riley like this, though his expression didn't show it. At least he wasn't the type to burst out in laughter lest she ended up strangling him to dissipation on the spot.
"Very well. I should do the same," he said before making his way to turn in his as well.
Maybe he'd get something rather grand in return. His luck had been going splendidly so far! No explosions. No random hissy curses.
It was his day. Hell, he could probably rob a bank right now and not get caught.
Hm. Nah. Mitsu would get on his case if he tried to pull something like that.
