Whassat? Scarentines was coming up? Yeah? And a certain vampire was up to no good as usual?
It shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone who knew the vampire that such a romantically themed holiday would've been prime time for stalking, and there was only one person he could possibly think to bother.
Lou had been strategically planning the best way to approach a certain ghoul as the hours crept towards that fateful day, and he figured why not appeal to all of her interests? Spookies, maybe some flowers, and oh, what about cute animals?
Only this time, his wingman Stiletto was staying home. This time, HE would be the cute animal. Bats were cute, right? Right. Totally cute. Little flying rats were the height of cute... If you were a truly loving soul. So what did Lou do? Why, he marched right up to Xiu's door, set a little basket of goods in front of it, gave a knock, and poofed himself into a little black bundle of flesh and fuzz. The coup de grace was a tiny red bowtie he had prepared himself, as hard as it was to shove something around your neck when the only appendages you had were creepy little claw fingers.
He sat there, tucked cutely into the basket, secretly hoping she wasn't decent. Oh, that would be wonderful.

There was nothing more pleasant than a morning chat with a friend, and when Xiu had opened the door, she had expected to see such a friend standing behind the door to greet her. However, instead, the baku was surprised to find herself staring at empty space. Hmm? A quick glance left and right down the hallways revealed that there was no one in sight, and it wasn't until one of her minis plopped down beside her feet and pawed at her leg did she actually look down.
"Oh." ...Oh? A basket? Why would anyone...? Puzzled, she crouched down to examine it, her brows creased. Was this...for her? Looking flustered, she reached out to brush her fingers against one of the blossoms that sat in the basket, only to flinch in shock as her fingertips touched something furry instead. Eyes wide, she jerked her hand back.
"What--oh. Oh, hello there!" A smile immediately lit up the ghoul's face as she reached into the basket, gently cupping her hands around the little bat and lifting him up. Ahhhh, look at him! Look at the little bow! Xiu practically melted, lifting the furry creature up to her face and gently rubbing her cheek against his. "Aren't you precious?"
Hook, sink, and sinker.

Oh, Lou had expected his plan to succeed, but this well? Brilliant. He was brilliant.
The bat let out a little screech of surprise as she jerked back, but after Xiu seemed to take in just how adorable he was, she was practically butter. Yes, he was precious, and he did indeed enjoy the warmth of her cheek.
But his nefarious scheme wasn't over yet. Oh no. Reluctantly the bat jumped from the baku's grasp and back into the basket, where he dug out a little note card. One that was apparently from whomever left the basket on her doorstep.
It read: 'Will you be my Scarentine?
y/n'
The creature held it out in front of him with his tiny little claws, batting his beady little eyes at her.

The baku looked a little startled when the bat jumped away from her, her ears drooping slightly. Had she offended it, perhaps? However, she quickly discovered that this was not the case, eyes wide as she crouched down to read the note that the little creature dug out from the basket. It read--
--...Wait a minute.
"Who left this here? Who left you here?" She looked puzzled as she reached out to pick up the bat again, carefully scooping him into the palms of her hands. "I think I deserve to know that much first, right?" ...Right?
Maybe she was getting smarter.

... Uh oh.
The little bat tugged on his bowtie as if the fabric had just gotten really tight. It seemed that the innocent and gullible baku had just taken a couple steps up the ladder to see over his clever plan. Brownie points to her, if she hadn't just foiled all his hard work.
The small creature seemed to clear it's throat, tapping at it's little lungs with a wing. "... It's a secret?" He tried to disguise his voice by going a couple octaves higher, but truly it sounded more like he was going through puberty all over again. Bitches loved secrets, right?
Silently Lou wondered if she'd be impressed by a talking bat or appalled because the proverbial cat would be out of the bag.

Xiu's response to the bat suddenly talking? She almost tossed him in shock, her whole body flinching. However, somehow, she managed to keep a gently hold of the little creature, her eyes growing round as she lifted her hands and stared at it from eye level.
"...Who are you, really?" That, er, squeaky voice was most certainly not familiar to her, but considering that the little bat could talk, that meant that it was either a reaper's familiar or a student. However, in the latter case, who would possibly have a bat form? No one that she knew--
--...
Xiu narrowed her eyes as she stared at the bat.

Lou might've squeaked a little when the ghoul flinched, his own tiny eyes bulging. Perhaps... He wasn't as genius as he might've thought. The way she was looking at him now, there was no way he could keep up a facade. Plus, it wasn't like he could lie. That was against the rules..
"Alright. Fine. You caught me." He shrugged his batty little shoulders and let out a sigh. "But! Before you get mad and throw me across the room, let me remind you I came with gifts." He gestured down to the basket. "Just like Christmastival." Though, perhaps he shouldn't have mentioned Christmastival...

Xiu's grip on the little bat tightened--not enough to hurt or harm, but enough so that it made escape slightly more difficult. Her grip loosened slightly when he pointed out that he had brought her things, only to tighten once more when he mentioned Christmastival.
The baku had been none too pleased to open that gift.
"Yes," She said tightly, "And while I appreciate the sentiment, I intended on returning the gift to you the next time that I saw you. I'm not going to wear it, Lou."

Lou tried very hard not to panic when he felt the soft grip around him tighten, his eyes affixed on the baku's face. She didn't like it? "What women doesn't like feeling sexy at least once?" The boil huffed, his eyes the epitome of discouraged at talk of taking it back.
"But... I spent hours trying to pick that out for you. Do you know how hard it is to estimate bust size with nothing to go on but your memory and the shapes your hands can make?" The bat's ears drooped. "And... It's not like I can wear it. Or take it back, really." That was a walk of shame even the vampire wasn't prepared for.
Struggling to get one wing free, he rested it on her hand and attempted to prop his head up. If Lou was going to be stuck like this for awhile, might as well get comfortable. "I bet you don't even own one piece of lingerie. What's so wrong about having nice looking underwear? Even if you're the only one who sees it." Jack forbid, but still. Lou knew he enjoyed looking at himself in the mirror. "Does it embarrass you? Is it truly that embarrassing to own an article of clothing that is meant to accentuate your curves? You shouldn't be so modest, sweet cheeks."

Well...maybe it would be a little rude to force him to take it back. After all, he had presumably gone out and spent the money to get it for her, even if the gift itself was completely improper. What could the vampire have possibly been thinking?
...Well, he knew exactly what he had been thinking.
The baku's frown deepened with every word that left the bat's mouth, and she shifted her weight from leg to leg, clearly uncomfortable about where this conversation was going. "No. No! I'm...I'm not ashamed, I just don't like wearing such things, okay? Even if I am the only one to see it."
In a way, she had to admit that the gift had been kind of pretty...but considering what it was, it had also been very, very revealing. Far too much so for her own comfort. The bat just smirked. "Because I'm sure you've tried such things on before." Lou quipped, tapping his little claw against his face.
Oh. Back around to the Scarentines, then? It was about time. Best not beat around the bush with this one. "Go on a date with me." No asking, no p***y footing, just an honest request. "Let me take you out to some nice restaurant. Show you around town. I've got some money saved up for the occasion." That was how dates went, right? You fed the ghoul, you took her out somewhere that amused her, and you took her home, right? Lou watched soap operas for fun, so he was sure sitting through a chick flick wouldn't be a big deal. Maybe he could even out-rig one of those rigged carnival games.
"And before you say no, which I'm sure you were going to." The boil quickly added in. "Give it some thought. You're not at risk of ruining some wholesome relationship, nor do you have high expectations that won't be met. The worst that could happen is everything goes exactly as you're thinking it's going to, which means the only thing you're losing is a couple hours of one night." It was a pretty win-win situation, as far as he thought. Kaiyumi oh u. don't even apologize. V: *pinches cheeks*

She decided to ignore the jibe, though her frown twitched ever so slightly. Her reaction to his request for a date was immediate--she opened her mouth to outright refuse the offer, but only a squeak escaped her lips before Lou interrupted her.
...And yeah, he had caught her there--she had indeed been about to say no. Clamping her mouth shut, she puffed her cheeked out and stared at him scruntinizingly, her tail giving a small, irritated twitch. "That's not necessary true that I don't have high expectations! I mean, just because I haven't dated before..."
She trailed off with another cheek puff, crouching down and carefully dropping Lou back into the Scarentines basket. "I'm not going on a date with you, Lou. If you want to go out, it will be a very friendly, platonic outing. No fancy restaurant, definite nothing that involves you seeing me in any sort of lingerie."

Lou refused to be deterred as she sat him back down. As soon as then at was released from her grip, he took off into her room and landed on the bed. Poof went the bat and a wild Lou appeared. At least he was nice enough to kick off his shoes.
"Okay sweet cheeks. We need to talk serious for a second." He laid on his stomach with legs bent, like a school ghoul reading a teen magazine. "What are you so afraid of?" He was watching her very carefully, trying to catch little twitches and quirks if they emerged. She had to be afraid. If not of dating then of the vampire himself, perhaps? He knew her friends warned her about him. What caring friend wouldn't? "Do you think a date will immediately degrade into some carnal lust party?" If only. "I never said anything about lingerie on a date, though it would've been a great surprise if you're really that anxious to show off for me." And cue wink.

To say that Xiu was none too happy about him suddenly intruding into her room would have been an understatement, but really, there was little that she could do about that now. Puffing out a cheek, she lifted the basket and brought it inside as she shut the door, setting it on the dinner table. Moving over to the bed, she propped her hands up on her hips and stared at the vampire disapprovingly. The fact Lou wanted to "talk serious" was a bit of a surprise to her, but it was his question that made her most uncomfortable?
"What? I...I'm not afraid!" She protested, the end of her tail puffing up, "I just...well, surely you can't blame me about mentioning the lingerie and being just a little wary considering all the suggestive things that you tend to say?" 90% of which tended to whiz over her head, but she had gotten a little sharper lately.
A little.
She made a face at his wink, but the corners of her lips twitched ever so slightly. "I thought you said this was a serious talk!"

Her response only made him smile. Not afraid? Her words said otherwise. "Yes. I say many things to many people. It's kinda how I roll if you haven't noticed." Not that he couldn't see the point she was trying to make. Lou just chose not to acknowledge it. "And I did say it was serious... For a second." Because generally a second at a time was all he could muster of pure seriousness.
Lou's fingers tapped quietly on either side of his face, his look almost spelling out the fact that he had missed seeing her puffy cheeks. "I know what your friends say about me. How you should stay away." And he didn't seemed bothered by the fact. But really, when did Lou appear bothered? "And I'm sure somewhere in your mind, you think I might jump you the second you let your guard down, but let me go ahead and say that I'd find no enjoyment in such things." It was like using cheat codes on a game. There was no respect in such actions. No bragging rights. No sense of pride in one's own work. It was cheap.
"What I want to know, though-" The vampire paused, cocking his head ever-so-slightly to the side. "Is if you're afraid of relationships that go beyond the normal realm of friends. Seriously." Lou figured he would need to qualify that, at least for now.
