It hadn't been long since the war had come to some sort of resolution. The energy had a more evil feel and it only served to worsen Ling's mental state. Having failed Darkness so totally during the war he had sought the brightest places, that didn't send him spiraling into total insanity, to punish himself. Currently he was sitting upon a ledge, shadowed by an overhanging rock from the light of the setting sun. His bare feet dangling over the edge and his chin resting on his clawed hand. His entire body giving off a passive, almost dead aura. Barely aware of his surroundings as he mentally beat himself further by thinking about his pain.

Upon reaching his adult stage, Alutar had found his fathers interest in him had waned. That was fine. Just because he wasn't physically around didn't mean he wasn't still watching. The young prince of darkness had chosen to begin exploring. He rather loved wandering the smaller passages of the Umbra roads. He didn't even mind when he had to get on his belly and slither like a snake just to get further along! Tonight though, after a long and happily exhausting crawl through the underground, Alutar fell out of the Umbra road expectantly. He hadn't realized the road took a sudden twist directly downwards. With a tumble and roll, he fell out onto a ledge, and nearly tumbled right over the edge. His tail snap lashed at the ground, the little tendrils digging into the surface to help hold him in place. "Whoa!" Alutar panted with shock, then threw a arm over his eyes at the burning brightness.

Ling's antenna fluttered, picking up the sudden appearance of another pockettu. His head snapped in the direction of the one who had arrived so suddenly, who had not only nearly stumbled off the ledge, but tasted the harsh light of the sun that Ling was barely out of himself. Had he been in a better state of mind he would likely have darted away, or jumped into an aggressive position. However, he simply sat there and 'looked' at him.

Alutar, despite his state of shock, moved rather quickly to push himself back as far into the shadow's of the ledge as he could. "By Father! That hurts!" He complained as he kept his watering eyes covered with one arm. "That wasn't funny!" Of course, he assumed his father had dumped him out here. He did control the Umbra roads and all. Alutar reached his hand out and began to randomly pat the area around him in search of the entrance he'd fallen out of. "I won't go so far next time! Just let me back in dad!"

Ling 'watched' as the other pulled back into the darkest of the shadows offered by the ledge. The other's words were a bit curious as he felt about blindly for something Ling did not know, or care about. Shifting slightly, though still remaining passive his antenna waved slowly until the other said father and Ling put the context of the events and spoken words together. His antenna fluttered silently and a his expression became more somber than passive. "Darkness is beauty, it is life. Its the one who rules, be thou a prince of Darkness." His words cryptic with a melancholy tone.

Alutar felt the ground and up the wall slowly. He was sure the entrance to the Road was probably above him. It didn't mean he couldn't hope his father would move it for him, right? As he did so, he kept his arm covering his blinded eyes. The sunlight was horrible! Suddenly someone spoke, and Alutar froze. His first thought was whether or not the speaker had a Taint feeling to them...but no..he didn't feel creeped out any more then someone might after hearing a unexpected voice nearby. "I...are you asking if Antarmur'ss is my dad?" He wasn't positive he understood what the speaker was asking. Though he did put some effort into blindly posing his chin upwards. "Because if you are, the answer is yes. I'm Alutar. I am his second youngest son." Alutar paused for a moment, then added in a uncertain tone. "Who are you?"

Ling turned his sightless eyes back towards the blinding, irritating light of the sun as the other confirmed what he had deduced. Though this did not make him feel any better. Putting his clawed hand in his pocket he pulled out the dark stone Antar had given him and 'stared' down at it in silence for a long moment as emotional pain washed over him at the reminder of what he had done. Closing his dark claws around the stone he lifted his head and finally replied. "One that has not a right to dwell as One is. Thy presence be not earned by One." Again his somber words cryptic.

Alutar wondered a bit as to why the speaker would take so long to answer him. If the sun would just go away he could have at least looked at him! Finally Ling answered Alutar...and his head seemed to start aching. What the hell had he just said? "I...I'm not a poet..." Alutar finally managed to speak back to Ling. "I'm rather bad at my writing lessons in fact. I'm not sure I really understood what you said." Alutar's tail shifted behind him, the small tendrils squirmed and curled against themselves as he really and honestly tried to piece together what had been said. "Are you saying you don't want me here?"

Ling turned back to 'look' at the prince as he spoke. Had Ling not been so emotionally upset he may have readily agreed with the final words of the other. Instead he gave his eyeless head a slight shake, that the price would not see with his own eyes covered. "One is not worthy, but not be thee unwelcome." He replied attempting to be a bit less cryptic for the son of Darkness.

The only clue that Alutar had that his current companion had not left was...well..none. He had no clue and it made him anxious to think he'd just been walked out on. Finally Ling spoke again, and Alutar relaxed slightly One...must be the guy referring to himself. He really did talk oddly didn't he? "Oh..I see." He awkwardly replied. "Well if your going to be that honest, technically no one is worthy but others who are lucky enough to be children of gods." Alutar paused and shuffled his tail against the ground. "I think that is what you mean right? I don't mind though. If I only hung around people of my station I'd be alone like..all the time... My siblings aren't exactly the most interesting kids to be around. One is a girl and the other drifts off into La La land like every few minutes...and the rest of my siblings are jerks to me."

Ling didn't bother to correct the prince, not social enough to have any desire to discuss his emotions openly. He was just fine allowing the other to think that he was not worthy because of status. Even though things like status meant very little to Ling. His antenna waved sending him constant 'images' to his minds' eye as he was silent for another long while. Ling was definitely not the talkative type. After a moment he rose to his feet, the chain of his cape clinking as he did so. Turning to face the dark prince he once again spoke. "This place be too light for one of Darkness." He had noticed that the prince had had his arm over his eyes since he had fallen in. Had Alutar not been Darkness's son, Ling would not have cared. However, his devotion to Darkness led him to feel similarly towards this prince. Ling walked towards the rock face of the ledge while continuing to talk in his strange manner. "Follow One to deeper ground." Ling's pace was slow, almost if hesitant, as he slid into a narrow crevice in the rock. A short distance in the crevice opened up into a modest sized cave. Light leaked in from several cracks similar to the one Ling had entered, but it was dark compared to the barely shadowed ledge outside.

Silence followed once more. Alutar wondered what this mysterious person looked like. He supposed it didn't matter so long as they weren't Cursed or attacked him. Perhaps he should have brought a weapon with him... All of these realizations of what a bad series of choices he had made came to him. By now, with the silences that followed, Alutar was afraid he was getting a horrible headache. Even with his arm over his eyes for protection, it seemed the Light managed to burn it's way through his flesh. On top of that, the wane shadow of the ledge was hardly strong enough to protect his sensitive skin. Alutar had spent his entire life in the blessed Darkness, and the sunlight felt harsh and burning. When Ling would speak about the light, Alutar found that simple sentence the most straightforwards thing the other had said. "Oh Father yes it is." He agreed with a small nodding of his head. "I can feel it burning my skin. It's absolutely horrible." It only occurred after he had spoken that perhaps that might be taken 'in the wrong light'. Since he was talking to someone on the surface, he assumed they were one of the Light dwellers... yet when Ling told him to follow he assumed that perhaps the other was willing to overlook his slight. Alutar unsteadily rose, and turned his ear in the direction of the sounds that came with Ling's movements. He moved with a hand outstretched, and his tail lightly brushing the ground in front of him for any possible rocks or objects that could cause him to trip. Almost immediately Alutar could feel the difference when he slipped into the crevice. He was pretty sure this was not the Umbra Road...but it didn't matter. Once his hand swished through open air, and he felt that the light was no longer trying to eat through his flesh, Alutar slowly lowered his arm from his eyes. The green orbs still watered some, but the light wasn't half as bad as it had been out on the ledge for him. Now he got a chance to look at the speaker, and Alutar found himself blinking at Ling. "You....you don't have any eyes?"

Ling's antenna waved slowly as he 'watched' the prince with a passive expression. The cave offered a soothing level of darkness compared to the near nonexistent levels he had been tormenting himself with the last few days. Though he still did not feel worthy of even this privilege, he outwardly remained passive. At the prince's surprised question he slowly turned around, silently moving across the cave to perch himself on top of a large rock on the far side. He was used to startled, scared, and even curious comments about his eye less state. He was usually quite closed off or harsh towards the other, however something about his hollow state of being left him in a strange passive mood. "One needs no optics to embrace Darkness." His words, though still a bit odd, where far less cryptic in the moment. Pulling his knees to his chest and lowering his head he continued in barely a whisper. "One be not worthy of Darkness anymore." His tone somber.

Considering the fact the cave clearly belonged to Ling, Alutar decided to follow the strange young man when he moved to perch himself on the rock. he understood the phrases spoken now, perhaps because he was expecting them? "Oh. I know what you mean. When I'm down in the deeper levels of Fathers temple it's impossible to use my eyes to see. I've gotten pretty good at not walking into walls when I'm in the dark." Alutar glanced down at his tail and gently swept it around his legs so the tendrils could wiggle out in front of him like little snakes seeking to grasp something. When Ling whispered his words, Alutar nearly missed them. His green eyes lifted to peer at the cryptic creature. "You made him mad huh? Well...he can't be too mad at you now if he dropped me here."

Ling didn't lift his head as the price spoke. Not that he needed to as he 'saw' everything around him with his antenna. The first part of the response made Ling's heart heavy, then his antenna twitched a bit strangely as it occurred to him that Darkness may have intentionally dropped his prince here. He felt an inkling of hope for a redemption in the sight of Darkness. His expression remained as passive as ever, the odd twitch being the only possible indicator that the prince's words had any effect. His heart was still heavy and Darkness's words rang through his head and he said nothing.
