In times of hardship, the people need entertainment. In times of war, the people need entertainment. In times of reconstruction, the treasury needs money and it knows the people need entertainment.

Eyris needed to be rebuilt, and while the war with Sentria and Mordache hadn’t ended – that, itself, demanding monetary attention from Learania’s coffers – the reconstruction couldn’t wait endlessly for a war to end. How, then, to continue funding the capital city’s reconstruction when there were already enough obligations to put its funding towards?

With a fundraiser! Organized collaboratively by the Host and Hostess clubs and backed by the Learanian government. I smell a union forming. These combined forced had decided to put on a Bachelor Auction where men could volunteer a day of their time to be purchased on a day-long date, all proceeds going towards the reconstruction effort! And with their combined manpower, this fundraiser had been marketed, publicized, promoted and otherwise for weeks, more than any Host or Hostess event before it!

This brings us to the Hostess Café one Saturday afternoon, more packed than it had ever been, bustling with chatter, brimming with buyers whose gold would help rebuild the city! Purchasing one of the bachelors practically made you a hero! A small portion of the Café had been sectioned off, where the generous men who had volunteered or wound up there for whatever other reasons they might have, could be seen. At one end of this section was a podium; a podium planted in front of a certain familiar Fire Dragon holding a gavel in one hand, now swing it down hard a couple of times to gain both silence and attention from all in attendance. In his other hand was a cosmo. He was changing it up from the usual martini. It WAS still a Hosting event.

“Welcome, everyone, to the first ever Host-Hostess sponsored event: ‘Dates for Reconstruction: A Bachelor Auction’! My name is FD and it’s both and honor and pleasure for me to be hosting this event. As a reminder, all proceeds will be going towards Eyris’s Reconstruction, so I encourage everyone to bid generously on our fantastic bachelors. And can we all give them an applause for volunteering a day of their time to a cause so important to us all?” And then there was applause. The Fire Dragon swung down the gavel once more to end it and get down to business.

FD looked at the list featuring the names all the men that had volunteered, or perhaps been volunteered – a very real possibility, given all it would take was someone putting another’s name in:

(HINT: this is the order people are being auctioned in)
(NOTE: order subject to change)

-Ezekiel
-Oujay
-Ziaram
-Sain
-Sunil (paid for)
-Abel
-Ephraim (paid for)
-Wallace
-Alex
-Enailios
-Zeiss
-Gale
-Rath
-Tibarn

“First up,” FD announced, his voice commanding attention, “is Ezekial. Is Ezekial present? If so, please come forward so everyone can see you.” As FD waited for that to happen, he continued, “The starting price for all of our bachelors is Five Gold. Additionally, any bid made must exceed the previous one by a minimum of Five Gold.

“Do I hear Five Gold?”

Some housekeeping things:

-A reminder that this is chronologically set before the current ongoing events of the RP.
-FD is NOT going to verbally verify that he’s aware of every bid made because there’s no way in Hell I could post frequently enough to keep up with that; just keep outbidding each other until someone is no longer outbid. Highest bidder wins whatever bachelor is being auctioned at the time.
-While this is an RP, be ready to put your virtual money where your character’s mouth is because if you win one of the auctions, you need to pay what you offered in ACTUAL GAIA GOLD to Fefga. We need money to have prizes during our celebrations, you know?
-While there will be another thread for the ‘day long dates’ won in this one, feel free to have your characters interact and RP in this one while bidding is taking place, as well.
-LET THE BIDDING BEGIN!

A shock of red hair stood out well above the crowd, crowning the dark green scales of the Hostess Club's entertainer. He stood head and shoulders above most, and with his deep, projecting voice, his laugh cut through the noise of the crowd easily as he raised one claw. "Fifty," he boomed, laughing. "I've been looking to experiment with evening entertainment for the ladies," he teased, crossing his arms.

"Fifty?" FD responded to verify. "I hear fifty. Do I hear fifty five?" he paused. "Going once, going twice... sold to Ganon! Thank you both for your contributions." Going first was always difficult, so it was understandable that people didn't seem overly active in bidding wars just yet. Kudos to Ezekial for doing so; the dragon wished him well.

"Our next bachelor is Oujay. Oujay, could you please come forward?" FD waited a moment expecting Oujay to take center stage for all to see him. "Again, we start at five gold. Any takers?"

Clara Risna
-----------------------------------------

Clara had gotten to the auction just in time to see Ezekial get auctioned off. Good she wasn't too late. From what she was hearing he was only the first one. At first she wasn't going to go, but then she found out who was one of the people that was going to be auctioned off.

That man was none other than the leader of the mercenary group she was a part of, Abel Fallon.

Now when she first met Abel it was right before a very long and enduring battle that pushed her to the limits. He must have been impressed by how she battled, because a couple months later she was recruited to the group. She did a few spars with him and man was she impressed. Clara had some good matches with him. Pair that up with his goofy nature and she had fallen for him.

Unlike the last guy she dated, she was shy into even getting him to do something besides sparing with him. So when Abel mentioned that he had a solo mission that he had to dress really nice for and when she saw the poster, Clara was very sure that her boss had, probably unknowingly, signed himself up for this bachelor auction. She brought all the money she had so she could jump onto this opportunity.

She wasn't about to mess this up.

Oh, this was gonna be good.

Annis flew in after the first auction had already ended, arms folded neatly under her chest as she landed on the ground next to Clara. She'd dressed nicely for the occasion, nice brown jacket and green sash and everything, and couldn't help but grin as she watched the girls fidget and squirm over their bids. You could only win one guy, and if you put a safety bid on someone and didn't get outbid, you could risk winning the bid on someone you didn't want to actually win.

She brushed her hair out of her eyes, watching Oujay take his place on the stage. She'd keep an eye on things, see if no one bid on him, and if necessary... Hey, everyone needed some attention, right? And she'd already talked to Loch about it. The money went to reconstruction, she was doing her part by helping out and having a nice afternoon with someone.

If no one bids, I'll throw a nice one down. Simple as that. Annis sighed and stretched her arms above her head, glancing over at Clara.

"So. Who's got your knickers in a twist, then?"

Clara was so distracted that she didn't know Annis was right next to her until she said something. The myrmidon was startled and blushing madly.

"No one." She said quickly. "No one at all." She turned her head back to the stage still blushing and hoping she wasn't going to get pressured into saying who she was here for.

"Well, if you have no one to bid on, then why would you be here? That's silly of you." Annis reached over and mussed Clara's head, offering her a toothy grin. "Relax! It's supposed to be for fun. You did bring enough money to win your lucky guy, right? For the day, at least." She glanced back at the stand, waiting for someone to bid on the blue-haired swordsman. Looks like a nice kid, too.

Annis sighed and stretched her wings, now smiling more encouragingly at Clara. "Just chill, girl. It'll be fine." She turned her attention back to the stand. "Don't look so nervous, or he'll get worried about you, y'know? Whoever he is." She paused, laughing. "Because there's gotta be a specific guy."

Clara fix her hair after Annis had messed it up."Yeah it is true." She paused as she put her hair in a ponytail after fixing it. "His name is Abel." If it was even possible at the point, Clara's blushing got much redder at mentioning his name and her eyes were now looking at the ground because of how flustered she had gotten.

Well, this was... interesting.

Blossom was lost in the crowd, clutching onto her coinpurse for dear life after Ganon had strolled away to claim his new buddy, Ezekiel. He'd encouraged her to go after the fiasco that had been the entire previous year or so, citing the necessity that she 'get out there again' and 'not stay cooped up indoors all day.'

At least it was relatively warm. Blossom had donned her scarf again and adjusted it around her neck as Oujay walked up, looking at him curiously as the audience chattered amongst themselves. She didn't know him very well, but she'd heard about him, and it was possible they had sparred together if he was at all involved with the Guard. The past few months had been a bit of a blur, anyway, what with all the shifts at the Café leading to most of her days being a non-distinct whirl of faces and baking cakes and delivering coffee in the mornings and afternoons, and training in the evenings. A wooden training sword wasn't the same as her broadsword, but it kept her in shape.

"...Is no one bidding?" Blossom mumbled, looking worried. If Oujay didn't get any bids, then... then that'd be terrible, wouldn't it? He'd be all alone.

"U-Um!" Blossom held up a hand, trying to get some attention. She was lost in the crowd, though; even as she jumped up, she was barely noticeable. "O-One hundred...!"

Nothing. Blossom tried to push her way forward, past the thickest parts of the crowd. "One-- One hundr-- oof, excuse me..." Blossom sidestepped around a woman she'd nearly rammed into, who barely seemed to recognize she was there. "I said, One hundred!"

Her face went beet red as a few of the people around her turned to stare.

There had been an almost awkward period of time in which there was small chatter between those present, but no bids. There needed to be both for this to be a successful event, and lots of both at that. FD started drinking some of his cosmo when very fortuitiously, a shout of a bid called everyone's attention.

All eyes were on Blossom after that. But it was good. She had effectively reeled in all attention to the auction. FD quickly swallowed what spirits were in his mouth and verified. "I hear one hundred! Do I hear higher?

A pause.

"Sold! For one hundred gold. Enjoy your purchase!" FD started clapping to compliment both Oujay and Blossom for participating and the rest of the cafe followed suit. "Our next bachelor is none other than Ziaram! Are you here, Ziaram? Please come forth so everyone can see what they'll be bidding on."

Ziaram

Ziaram stayed back as he watched the second bachelor get sold off for 100 gold. When he heard his name he stepped on forward so that everyone could see him for all his worth.

"Aww, look at him up there. Zia... zia-what'shisface?"

"Ziaram. Now hush yourself!"

"Kekeke, yeah! Ain't he a total BEEFCAKE?"

"Adele, you say that about every man!"

"Only the hot ones. Come on, look at 'em, isn't he a total STUD?" Adele grinned very smugly.

"Well, I suppose..."

"And ain't nobody biddin' on him! I mean, whatcha gonna do?"

"Erm..."

"YOU GOTTA BID!"

"Fine, fine!" She raised her hand hesitantly. "...Five hundred gold!"

"whooooooo. Ain't nobody gonna top that!"

Well, this was awkward.

As a member of the Host Club, Roy had helped set up for the auction. And yet, despite the fact that there were all these people here, none of them seemed particularly interested in bidding on these bachelors. While he wasn't actively taking part by being a bachelor (considering that, well, he kinda was one), he did feel that the crowd was being particularly rude to the volunteers.

If you're going to come gawk at these shirtless bachelors, at least bid. the young lord thought irritably.

Ganon saved the first bachelor. Considering the bard was part of the Hostess Club, chances were that he was going to have him work the day there or something. After all, they could use a little more muscle with moving supplies around. Considering he didn't recognize this bachelor (and mind you, Roy knew a lot of people), he must have been new. At least that would help get him acquainted with people and help get his feet on the ground living in this new world.

The second bachelor was Oujay, and after a while of bidding, Roy couldn't stand watching his friend go without any bids. He was about to make a bid when Blossom forced her way in and bid on the Invisible Hero. The redhead sighed in relief. He'd have to thank her later.

Now that he thought about it, it seemed like the Hostess Club was picking up the people who got no bids. It'd be kind of bad if the Hostess Club had to save the leftovers.

But just then...

A voice rang out. Roy glanced over towards the source of the noise. It was... uh... shoot, you'd think he'd know everyone now. Started with an "I". She was dressed like she was a noble, and putting the two together...

Right... supposedly her name's Iris. he mused.

He never really spoke to the Sage before, and there was never a situation that really put him in a position to speak with her. Ziaram on the other hand... he must be ecstatic about having a high bid. Why not spice it up and keep things interesting? Ziaram was a swordsman after all, and Roy was looking for other sparring partners.

"600 gold." Roy called out, raising his hand.

Let the bidding war begin.

The plan hadn't exactly gone off splendidly so far.

It was innocent enough, wasn't it? Have fun while you could, go out and enjoy what life had to offer like any normal person. Forget about the war going on just for the moment. She wasn't as strong as Blossom or had the experience of any of the other soldiers. She couldn't lift an axe, swing a sword, even pick up a lance! Holy magic was beyond her abilities as she was now...All she could do was pick up a staff and hope she could get to someone in time. A stray arrow could pick her off at any moment. Might as well enjoy yourself while you could! Fill the pockets of a good cause, maybe enjoy a nice date while she could, and just have fun along the journey.

...But wow, things were pretty dead at the moment. People she didn't recognize, one bid wins, and absolute silence among the crowds. Really, the only thing that people were doing were gawking at shirtless men. She had to feel sorry for the contestants, though she couldn't resist a glance or two from time to time. "Only thing left to do is to go at it yourself!" She whispered, only to herself before cautiously raising her hand. She would go unnoticed for some time, finally jumping up into the air as a red-haired man and Lady Iris decided to jump into the bid.

"O-Oh! I put down... 750 gold!"
