The maul would always prove to be an interesting place for TK. It was quite modern compared to the bath house he and his family had worked out for many years. Everything was so different, especially the atmosphere. It was just as busy, but a different could of busy. The bath house had a more refined air about it, whereas the maul was crawling with vibrant energy as people went from shop to shop. Currently, the skeleton found himself in a store called Halloween Crow.

He didn’t pay too much to fashion, but he supposed he did a decent amount of care into his clothes. TK tried to keep his clothes, especially after having to don the extravagant garb back at home during the special celebrations and events. Standing straight and to his full 5’8” height, he slowly sifted through a rack of jackets. He cocked his head curiously at the different designs he encountered, but none seemed to suit him. Perhaps it was because they had too much color. Considering his appearance, monochrome seemed like the best way to go.

After a few more minutes of searching, he stepped back and sighed, one hand on his chin as he eyed the clothing selection with restrained disapproval. “How troubling.”

The maul was like a second home to Mia. After getting her enrollment forms sorted out, finding her dorm room and getting acquainted with some of her professors, it was already the end of the day, and the first thing she did was dump all of her homework off in her room and headed straight for the Maul.

"I didn't peg you as the type to slack off, dear Miasma, considering how you value your education. Did you not come here with a point to prove?"
"Hush, Psy, it's only the first day! Besides, I'll get it done as soon as I check out a few-"

The words died on her lips as she arrived at one of the clothing stores, and she let out an excited squeal, drawing some scarelings attention towards her.
Flushing slightly, she let out a little cough before regaining her composure, but a grin still spread on her face as she dashed into the Halloween Crow. Oh, how she heard about this place! All the latest fashion...

Several changes later, Mia had a tidy pile of clothes in her hands, and her familiar only let out an exasperated sigh.
"Miasma. Do you plan on blowing all your allowance on the very first day? At this rate, you will need to find a job."
"It's not that much! And don't call me Miasma, it sounds, so, so-"

Words trailed off as she spotted a boil inspecting some clothes. An... undead boil?
She instinctively scrunched up her nose in distaste. But... for an undead, he did seem to have decent taste in clothes, despite it being a bit... drab.

"Needs more colour..." she mused.

His ears perked up when he heard a scream. Actually, it was less a scream and more a squeal. TK could pick up the delight in the sound—high and characteristically feminine. Most likely it was a ghoul. The skeleton watched a couple of nearby scarelings turn their heads toward the source, though he chose to focus on the piece of clothing in his hands. After scrutinizing the material and design, the boil chose to hang it up and continue sifting through the selection until he picked out a shirt this time. He cocked is head as he eyed the simple design—skulls and swirls and splatters—until a voice caught him off guard.

“Hm?” He turned toward the voice to meet a reaper ghoul. TK observed her bright clothes and peculiar familiar. He took his sweet time examining both of them before he looked back at the shirt in his hands. “You think so?” he mused, “Considering my appearance, I fear too much color would not suit me well. Therefore I have mostly stuck to a monochromatic color scheme.” He paused briefly. “It suits me well, I think.” Then he raised an eyebrow at Mia and her clothes. “Although I see you think otherwise?”

Mia only stared back, a frown on her face as she clutched the clothes tighter. Though, when the boil turned his attention back to the shirt he was holding, she let out a huff.

"Of COURSE I think so. Colour is what brings things to life! Though I guess that's the wrong thing to say in your case..."

Shifting the clothes to one arm, she took several steps forward, and plucked the shirt out of his hand.
"This." She gave the shirt a shake. "No. Much too drab."

The shirt was tossed back on the rack, and she shuffled through the selection with one hand.
"No... No no, too stuffy, too dull... MUCH too bright..."

She continued muttering to herself, musing about how each one had some sort of fault. In the meanwhile, Psy was fluttering behind TK, shaking her head.
"I apologize. She... tends to get this way when it involves clothes."

After a few more head shakes, she finally picked something out.
"There!"
She pulled out a shirt, and though it was black, it had gold trimmings at the edge of the sleeves and collar, and a faint gray/white smoky wisp pattern snaking up on one side.

"Here, try this on."

His lips curled into a wry smile. “Wrong thing, indeed,” he agreed as he carefully returned the piece of clothing back to its original spot, but then the ghoul took it out of his hands. TK’s eyes widened slightly as she declared it too ‘drab.’ “Is it?” he wondered in a softer voice and watched with mild disapproval as she carelessly tossed it back. The skeleton moved to properly return it while she muttered as she searched through the selection herself. TK had to wonder what possessed the ghoul to assist him with clothes shopping, considering they were complete strangers to each other.

His curiosity melted into quiet amusement as her familiar fluttered behind him. “I can only imagine.” He laughed softly as he politely stood a distance behind Mia. The boil hummed as she brandished a different shirt. Fortunately the main color was still black, but now it had gold trimmings for a splash of color. TK chuckled as he reached for it. “Give me a few minutes. I will be back.” He strode off to find the dressing room, and indeed he arrived back on the dot, his shirt and jacket neatly draped over one of his scrawny arms. “How does it look? Personally, I am not very good at picking out suitable clothes, so I find my opinion to be…lacking? Yes, I think that is the word for it.”

As the boil took the shirt and went off to the dressing room, Mia gave a satisfied smile.
"Fashion crisis averted."
"Miasma..."
"Mia. I said Mia was fine."
"Mia... Don't you think you should let others choose their own clothes...? Everyone has their own taste..."
"But not everyone has GOOD taste."
Psy only sighed.

Though when the boil returned, Mia lit up, clapping her hands together with delight.
"Perfect! It goes so well with your eyes! And-wait."
She paused. How she had been able to tell what his eye colour was and match something to it was a complete mystery.
"No, no, something is missing..."
She turned around rummaging through the rack again.
"Silver? More grey? No no... brown?"

While Mia was occupied, Psy fluttered in front of the boil.
"I think it looks nice. I also like that other shirt you picked. Don't mind Miasma. I just think she's overly picky."

TK had to double take at the mention of a fashion crisis as he walked away. He stared down at the new jacket then at the clothes in his arms. Was his usual taste really not that great? The boil knitted his brows together as he mulled this over in the dressing room.

At least she seemed satisfied with what she had picked out for him. He continued to smile politely as he stood there. “So I assume this has your appro—“ TK stopped abruptly as she scrutinized his outfit again before returning to the rack. He sighed, but patiently stood behind the reaper ghoul. He laughed softly at the familiar. So, her name was Miasma? “Thank you. To be honest, I am not too picky about my clothes, so I suppose I do not mind someone being too picky for me. Although, having that someone be a stranger is rather odd,” he mused. “But it seems she is enjoying herself, from what I can tell.”

He leaned over slightly as he called out, “Did you find something more suitable?”

The familiar gave him an amused look.
"I fear you may come to regret that decision."

As if on cue, she turned when he spoke out, several clothing hangers in one hand. Thankfully, for TK, he would notice that the majority of the clothes were a dull colour, either black or grey, but there were some splashes of colour on several. Bits of blue on some, white on others, purple, gold...
Just enough colour so that they added some accent rather than stick out obnoxiously.

"Here, try these on."
She didn't bother waiting for his response as she thrust them into his hand, and paused as she seemed to scrutinize the collection she had just selected.

"You need... accessories. Wait right here."
With that, she marched off, and Psy only stared at the boil, giving him a look that seemed to say "Run. Run while you still can."

Glowing eyes blinked confusedly as he slowly tilted his head at the familiar. “Pardon?”

Cue the reaper girl’s return. TK immediately turned his attention back to Mia and the pile of clothes in her arms. Thin lips formed a soft smile when he noticed the amount of clothes she had already picked out for him. Fortunately, the colors weren’t too vibrant and while not completely his taste, it wasn’t out of his range either.

More confused blinking as she gave him the clothes. “All of them? Do…do I mix and match them? I am afraid I am not quite sure what you…” His voice trailed off as she walked away to gather accessories. Accessories? The skeleton boil hoped she wouldn’t return with anything gaudy or with too many. One or two extra items he could handle, but anything more and he wasn’t sure.

“That…” A strained smile. “I am afraid that would go against my personality.”

Unfortunately for TK, Mia had already left, and so hadn't heard his comment until she returned, hands carrying a studded collar, studded belt, some studded cuffs, silver chain, skull necklace...

Luckily for TK, at least it wasn't anything brightly coloured and kept with the monochrome theme he desired. Unfortunately, she probably... went a little bit overboard.

Dumping the pile of accessories in front of him, she folded her arms, a smug grin on her face, as if she was proud of what she had found (she did do some digging ok).
"There. Try those on."

He silently stared at the reaper’s retreating back with his lips pressed together. Hopefully, the ghoul had heard him rather than fall back into her own little world of clothes and fashion. The skeleton boil received his answer when Mia returned with a variety of accessories. “…” TK’s shoulders slumped slightly, but at least she hadn’t gotten him anything obnoxiously colored. He could thank his lucky stars for that.

TK knitted his brows together as he hesitantly took out a belt and a chain. “Do you mean in any combination or all of them together at the same time? Or…” Forgive TK, Mia, for he does not follow the path of fashion and looking good.

To be honest, there were a lot of really nice accessories she would have loved to grab also, but alas, colour just didn't seem to work on the boil. Not to mention she secretly wanted to try on those other things herself.

She watched him pick something out of the pile, nodding at his choice. Not bad, not bad. But then he asked. Oh JACK he did not just ask that.
TK was given a look of horror, as if he had insulted her parents (not that she would have really cared) and her hand flew to her mouth as she let out a gasp.
No, no, she could do this. She will teach you how to be beautiful, TK.

Recollecting herself, she removed her hand from her mouth, and raised up a finger.
"The very first most important rule about accessories. Mix and match! Every outfit requires a delicate balance of accessories, and you should never, EVER just re-use the same accessories, or jack forbid, wear them all at once. NEVER."

Apparently he had asked the wrong question, judging by the look on Mia’s face. TK also figured the ghoul really took her fashion seriously. As if it hadn’t been obvious enough. But each action and word from the reaper gave him a fuller picture of what kind of character she was. Interesting; he adjusted his impression of her accordingly.

“Sorry,” he apologized, “I am more used to picking whatever seems suitable. I do not put a lot of thought into what I wear.” Eyebrows furrowed at her rules. The skeleton boil wasn’t sure if he would follow them all, but they seemed simple enough. He would probably follow them most of the time, at least. “Okay then.” Golden eyes stared at the accessories in his hands. They seemed like a suitable combination, so he took the items and clothes and walked to the nearest changing room.

Minutes later he walked out, still adjusting the wrist watch while the coat lightly fluttered behind him. “How about this?”

Serious enough that it often hurt her budget. It was probably a good thing her uncle was able to fund her ridiculously large wardrobe, as she.... really never did wear the same accessory twice . But it was a waste to toss out good things, so it only accumulate in her closet. Her poor minis were running out of room.

His confession was given a frown, but she nodded. At least he was honest.
"It makes sense to pick what is suitable, but you must remember, first impression is EVERYTHING."
It probably helped that not everyone was as vain as she was, so there was probably no need to follow such ridiculous advice, but as long as she was in his company, well, the poor boil would see why many would want to avoid her.

When he went to put the accessories on and came back, she smiled, giving an approving nod.
"Not bad. The small accents of colour definitely help."

Coming from a modest family working for a large bathhouse, TK would have blanched (was this even possible given his usual complexion) if he ever took a glance into Mia’s wardrobe. Fortunately, the boil predicted he wouldn’t be that close with the ghoul. Not yet, at least; the possibilities were endless.

His frown mirrored her own. “I think my current outfit is suitable for most casual occasions.” Admittedly, it was much better than walking around in a yukata like he often did at home. TK could remember the snickers as he walked by. Monochrome yukatas seemed to not exist…

“I see.” Doubt clearly showed on his face as he looked down to give his new outfit a better look. It didn’t feel all that different, but the boil was beginning to feel it was more him than anything else. “Well,” he began with a polite smile, “thank you for helping me out. I appreciate it.”
