There were a million things Aventine could have been doing right now—only a dozen of which were probably actually good ideas. She could have been soaking in a bath, snuggling with her dog, watching movies—all safe inside her nice, warm home.

Instead, she was out in the park, pretending like there wasn't a chill in the air, looking for a good time. Or trouble. The two concepts seemed a bit interchangeable at the time. On one hand, while she was out here, she didn't have to worry about how miserable she was going to be when she was dateless, again, on Valentine's day. On the other hand, she was still totally alone and freezing her a** off.

The moment she felt the aura of some senshi, she made a beeline straight towards it. Deprived of social contact, Aventine wasn't one to turn down any opportunity. Besides—for all she knew, she was going to meet some hunk of a senshi who would just have to ask her out to dinner.

Considering everything that had been happening to her lately, Valentines day was probably the last thing on Sailor Ida's mind... or, at least the 'date' part of it. Working in a flowershop, the days leading up to that holiday were some of the busiest of the year. There was no way to NOT think about it when you were chin deep in valentine's flowers most of the day.

And with having only recently become a senshi, dealing with finding her purpose and learning about all the factions in this secret war had her more than occupied.

Which... was probably why Ida didn't sense the other powered in the area until she was nearly on top of her, startled when the very pink woman suddenly seemed to appear out of no where.

"Oh, um... Hello." She said as she straightened up, brushing imagined dirt from her skirt as a way to occupy her hands and cover her surprise. "Lovely day, isn't it?"

Okay, maybe that was a little lame...

Aventine blinked when she came across the senshi; her lips pursed, and for a moment she wondered if she should be disappointed that there wasn't an attractive man before her. It was a nice thought, but one she could have kicked herself for—getting her hopes up. She flashed a smile all the same. "Well, it was!" she piped up; conversation being struck meant she couldn't scamper away. Thankfully, she didn't want to.

The moment she laid eyes on the senshi, she was entranced with her getup. Approaching, she held out her hand. "It's getting a bit too brisk for my tastes, now that the sun's not around to keep me toasty. I'm Aventine, page of Venus, and you, my dear, are gorgeous. I am in love with that outfit and I would kill for some stockings right now. Well," she laughed awkwardly, "Well, not kill you for a pair, you know, just—just an expression. You know. Because it's cold," she ended flatly, face a bit colored in embarrassment. She was mostly good with people—after the introduction. During which they had to deal with her hasty ramblings.

The very pink woman that stood before her was very much a surprise to Ida. She really didn't think she had ever seen someone so... pink, orange, or frilly. She took her hand absentmindedly as she absorbed the gushing of compliments, feeling her cheeks heat.

Ida had thought the same thing about her fuku, but to have someone else point it out too was... embarrassing, actually. Ida couldn't help the smile that spread on her face though, a giggle breaking from her as the page stumbled to a halt in her words.

"Oh my... I-Ida. I'm Ida, Senshi of Orchids. Its very nice to meet you..." She said as she worked out how to reply, both enjoying the compliments and feeling unworthy of them. "This... it just sort of appeared, I can't take any credit for it... I'm not even sure why the stockings are striped, though the bows are sort of self-explanatory. Really, your outfit is much cuter... its adorable on you, really! I look drab next to you."

Oh, it was so nice to meet someone... nice, on her patrolling. So many of the other powereds she'd met had been stand-offish, or far too serious. Having someone just come up and chat nicely was like a breath of fresh air. Sure, they might be involved in a war, but that all seemed so far away to the flower senshi, still so new to her 'job'.

Aventine thrived with the compliments and swatted at the air absentmindedly. "Oh, you're too kind! Why don't we call it even and say we both look radiant, how's that?" Judging by the smile on her face, she was playing around, though there was certainly a bit of truth to her words. "I'm pretty partial to the outfit now, but when it first popped on me? I thought I lost my mind," the page admitted. "It felt so totally weird. I mean—I looked like some fairytale character. Way out of date with modern fashion and all. But, I dunno," she smoothed out her top a bit. "It's really grown on me. Not like it really helps out in the cold or anything, but come spring, I'm pretty sure it'll be perfect." She shrugged, still smiling. "So, I haven't seen you around! Not that I, you know, really run into a lot of people these days. Youma," she rolled her eyes. "All my nights are filled with youma. Ugly ones, too. How long have you been out and about?"

Ida couldn't help laughing brightly, watching Aventine brush away the compliments and name them both lovely. She had a feeling she would really like this woman the more she got to know her.

"I'm sure it'll be nice and cool in the summer." She said as she smiled. The question sort of took her back though and she had to think a little, touching her fingers together as she counted silently.

"Um... a couple of weeks actually. My, how time flies when you're fighting monsters... I still have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing, I'm just sort of winging it and following my instincts. It feels like I met that cat years ago, but at the same time, like I'm still stumbling around confused... which, actually, I still am." She sighed and chuckled softly, propping her hands on her hips.

"What about you? You look like you have things... together. Like you know what you're doing." At least... she hoped she did. It would be nice to meet someone else who could give her more advice about this whole business.

"Ugh, you might think? I've been doing this for…I dunno, since like, mid October or something, and I am still not totally sure what I'm doing." She sighed dramatically, as though this topic were vaguely distressing, however a smile was quick to return to her face. "But it's a lot easier now, for sure! And I mean, I'd like to think I've got a good idea of what to do, for the most part. It's just kinda…takes some time to get used to? I'm pretty comfortable fighting youma, making sure they don't like, creep into people's houses at night and try to eat them." Or, you know, whatever youma did. "Then there's the Negaverse, and the Dark Mirror Court, and I'm going to be totally honest, I've got nooooo idea about them. Still trying to figure things out, but kinda taking it all in stride. Some aren't so bad, but I feel bad for thinking it. I guess, I dunno. I mean, I could ramble all night on how confusing some of this stuff is, but that's probably not very reassuring. I fight them when they seem bad, I talk to them when they're not raving lunatics. —Out of curiosity, which cat did you run into?" she prompted; she had already grown a soft spot for the talking cats she had run into, and couldn't help but see if they had told Ida anything she didn't already know.

Ida laughed softly at the sigh.

"Its kind of weird neither of us know what we're doing. Shouldn't there be, like, some sort of organization? One day a cat throws a pen at you and you're just supposed to figure it out, running around like a goose..." She chuckled again as she shook her head. "I don't know... I met one of the Dark Mirror Court, but he only made things more confusing for me. The things he said were so opposite what I thought things were, and I don't know who's right."

"Oh!" She said when the cat was mentioned, changing her train of thought. "I was in the park one evening when a cat ran up to me to escape this yappy little dog... when the dog ran off, we were pounced by a youma. The cat was Poseidon and he gave me my henshi pen so I could fight off the youma. He hasn't been... terribly forthcoming with information so far. I've been sort of just winging it ever since, trying to keep people safe while I learn more about both sides and what's going on. The patrols are kinda hard though... I run into youma a lot that are stronger than I am. Which is probably why the supers and eternals I meet yell at me for patrolling alone.

"Ugh, tell me about it," she sighed, both in reference to the confusing Dark Mirror Senshi and the too strong youma running around. Poseidon wasn't a name she recognized, so all that meant was that there was another cat out there, waiting for her to scoop it up and try to drag it home with her. "I haven't gotten yelled at, but I have gotten a finger wagging. So far, I'm doing pretty good against the youma, but I guess that's because I'm good at running, but that gets old, fast. How are you holding up against them? Do you like, know how to fight or something, or are you just roughing it?"

She shifted positions, seeming genuinely curious about this topic. While it was frivolous conversation before, this was something that was important to her—to the both of them. She wasn't the best fighter and she knew that, but she knew enough to survive this far. If Ida knew how to hold up any better than she did, she wanted all the tips she could take—and if the girl was struggling, she was definitely eager to share what she did know.

"Well... I wasn't a fighter until I became a senshi." Ida said, feeling like she might have found a kindred spirit in Aventine. Here was someone new like her who seemed to see things the same way, even if she was a little more energetic than the flower senshi.

"My hobbies were things like flower arranging and choir, not martial arts and track. I'm lucky transformation comes with a power up for strength and speed or I'd be completely hopeless. I've been, more or less, making it up as I go. I learned how to use my attack and I learned its limitations. The rest is either... kicking and punching it or running away, whichever ends up working. I've gotten better, I think, but its not like I've had any training on it... If I actually faced off against someone with experience I'd be toast."

Ida sighed with a gusty breath, blowing her bangs out of her face as she braced her hands on her hips. Oh, it felt good to talk about it with someone who understood. "You've probably got it worse than I do. Tsui said Pages don't get attacks until they become Squires, so all you've got is your hands and feet, right?" That was when an idea occurred to her and she suddenly felt shy again, looking down at her feet as she tugged on her skirt.

"I don't suppose you'd be interested in maybe teaming up, would you? I mean, it would just be for patrols and it wouldn't have to be anything special, just sort of being in the same general area so if one person gets in trouble, they've got someone to help them out... I wouldn't expect you to hang out with me during or after patrol or anything like that." She said in a rush, scuffing the toe of her shoe against the grass. "And its perfectly fine if you don't want to either. Its probably easier to run away or defend yourself if you're not worrying about someone else."

"Oh," Aventine's lips immediately pursed into a pout. "Ida, don't talk like that! I'll tell you what, we'll figure something out! I don't actually like, really know anyone beyond their powered forms, so I wouldn't mind hanging out! If we're out there, working a as a team, I'll worry about you whether I know you or not! So we might as well get to know each other too, right? I mean, I'm going to ask you questions and make all sorts of chit chat if we're going to be a team, you know. The more you know about each other, the easier it is to know how to help each other, right? I mean, that's how it always was when I was playing Rugby. Which just so happens to be just about the only actual fighting experience I have, but—anyway, the girls and I used to hang out, chat, gossip, be there for each other. On the field or off. So—I'll bother you for your phone number after this, we can schedule patrols, get in contact—meet up for some girl time one of these days," she said, winking. "—Oh, but not until next week. I have a test to study for." Aventine sighed a bit overdramatically, but hastily shook her head.

"Anyway, we can figure that out later! What's most important right now is making sure we both live to see next week! Kicking and punching sound like a good plan—do you have a sparring partner? I keep thinking it's a good idea, but everyone I bump into is so much stronger than me, it's so lame. It's like, how am I supposed to get better when everyone's totally kicking my a**? Though," she looked over the senshi, stroked her chin thoughtfully, and then grinned. "…You wanna practice fighting a bit? I mean, while we're both here and all…Couldn't hurt, right?"

Ida couldn't help the shy, but radiant smile that spread on her face, nearly bouncing in place as her proposal was accepted. For someone who didn't have many close friends, each one she did have was a treasure. And not only was she okay with teaming up while powered, she was even proposing the normal sort of friendship that didn't involve being powered up.

"Oh my gosh, I would love that! Really!" She said as she laughed, filled with excitement now. "It will be so nice to know someone I could share all of this with... someone who knows both sides of it."

The sudden grin and offer to spar helped to bring her back down from her giddy high and she grinned back, shrugging. "I've only ever practiced with Tsui, but I'm game to try with you. Like I said though, I don't know any martial arts, so its more flailing around than fighting!" She laughed. "How do you usually do it? I've never played Rugby either, so you have that over me."

Aventine, while not so openly, shared Ida's excitement; it had become awkward with her friends, trying to live this double life. Sometimes she couldn’t explain why she was so tired, or why she didn't have the energy she used to—or why she sometimes showed up with strange bruises and seemed a little more paranoid of them walking home alone at night. To know someone who understood what she was going through—well, now; she was starting to think she try to get more friends out of all the senshi and knights.

"I know Tsui!" she blurted, a bit excited to have something in common with Ida. A familiar name always put her at ease. "We fought a youma. There was a lot of flailing involved on my part, but! Rugby kinda teaches you to run with reckless abandon. I mean, I guess playing it for so long has made me a little faster at running, gave me a little bit higher pain tolerance, and definitely taught me the use of elbows."

She lifted an arm and pat her elbow for emphasis. "I jab with these all the time. I mean, I guess I punch okay? Nothing really impressive. But elbows, no matter how hard or light you hit, always hurt. Plus, you can run by someone and jab them in the back while their defenses are lowered. You want a demonstration? I promise I won't hit hard enough to bruise, but I can, uh, show you how it works? I mean, if you don't mind and all?"

Bluefire Dragonz
PostPosted: Thu Feb 21, 2013 9:00 pm

"She showed up while I was out on patrol one night and showed me a little bit about fighting. The elbow thing is new though... I never would have thought to use mine. I guess when you watched TV you don't see people doing things other than, like, punching and doing karate chops." Ida said as she straightened up, trying to find a defensive stance that felt... well, if not natural, at least something useful. She ended up with something like a boxing stance, fists up and feet spread.

"Alright! Go ahead and show me how you would do it. Then we can go again and I'll see if I can work out a counter for it." The flower senshi said as she waited patiently, though a little more flat footed than she probably should have been. She was already working through the scenario, trying to think up a good way to dodge an elbow, or even use it to her advantage. Not that a lot of the bad guys fought this way, but any training was useful.

Not that she had the time for it, but taking some classes on something might be a good idea. She'd never been into martial arts, but it would be something useful to have in her skill set. She wondered how her father would take it, Orah suddenly wanting self defense classes. He'd probably worry there was something she felt she needed to defend against. While true, it wasn't something he could do anything about, so worrying would do much good for either of them.

"All right!" Aventine replied, making sure Ida had enough time to get comfortable and take a defensive posture. While she waited, she clapped her hands together, rolled her shoulders—and then charged. Aventine spared no energy; she ran towards the girl, however her path seemed to take her just a few inches to the side of the girl. She ran past her, just barely avoiding colliding with her and then, without hesitation, half spun to jab her elbow in the small of the senshi's back. She had held back a vast majority of her strength back and provided a blow only strong enough to make contact and display her methods. "—And, surprise! But, it only really works once before they realize that you're trying to take them by surprise. Then you have to rely on all punching and karate chops. But, actually, holding your arms up can make for good blocking. I'm not really much of a close combat person so much I kinda just charge in, use momentum, then get away, then repeat. Oh—are you okay? Did I hit too hard? Didn't get your ribs, did I?" she prompted, seeming genuinely worried.
