Standing tall, a young girl balanced on the roof of a house and looked over her neighborhood as the last of the color left the sky, everything turning dark and shadowed where streetlights didn't reach.

The patrol for Sailor Ida had been uneventful and right now, all she wanted was to get home and settle in. She had so much to do before she could sleep... She was going to have to figure something out as far as house chores. Either someone had to start helping out or she was never going to get any sleep any more between the chores and her school work.

The dark haired senshi sighed as she unfolded her arms and glanced about, leaping the gap to the next house and trotting along the peak of the roof. Just a few more houses and she'd be home, no one the wiser. Not for the first time, she was grateful the upper story of the flower shop had a balcony attached to the rooms. Made sneaking in a lot easier.

While the hour was already starting to get late, Remarque was only really just getting out. He'd been caught up for a little later than he'd intended; between work and school, this week had been hectic enough with the Dark Mirror Court. Not that he could turn down his responsibilities for the latter. He'd only been patrolling for a few minutes before the aura of a senshi blipped on his radar.

Considering how early it was, he debated if he should focus on socializing or gathering energy—until he realized the aura was getting further away. He could have done the easy thing—just let it go and let the night play itself out. Or, he could have made it a race to see if he could intercept the senshi before it got away.

He had a bit of a cheat; there were mirrors scatter all around, and while there were only a few that he knew about on rooftops, he'd just set one up around here last week. Bolting through a mirror on the ground, he came out on top of the roof, closer to the senshi only a few seconds later. He felt her before he could see her, and considering the direction she seemed to be headed in, it was fairly easy to estimate which direction he thought she was headed in. Bolting in that direction, he was able to catch up to her rather effortlessly. "You know," he said, when he landed on the same roof as her, "You're awfully brazen to be jumping between roofs. Aren't you afraid of falling?"

The sudden voice out of the darkness just about sent her right off the roof, her heels skidding on the shingles as Ida stumbled. She pressed a hand to her chest over her bow as she regained her balance, straightening up and looking for the source of the voice.

"Oh, gracious, you scared me... If you're worried about people falling, you really shouldn't sneak up on them." Ida said with a laugh, white teeth flashing in the darkness as she smiled.

The stranger, when she caught sight of him, was rather odd... He looked powered, but there was something subtly off about his appearance. A little line appeared as she frowned in curiosity, doing what she had practiced and opening herself up to feel the energy signatures around her. Little blips here and there, nothing she could pin point at her current level, but him... His energy was strong, a lot stronger than anything she had felt before, save Eternal Senshi Tsui. The difference was a lot clearer there, especially when Ida compared it to what she remembered of Tsui's energy. He was not a senshi, at least not the kind she knew.

Feeling suddenly a little nervous, she debated running away... until she remembered she'd been headed home. Well, there was no way she was going there now, with him watching her. Ida didn't want, or any one else for that matter, coming anywhere near her home... bringing all of this conflict with them.

"I think you know that we can jump a lot higher than we used to... falling doesn't hold quite the same consequences that it did. And what brings you here, to this roof top? If I invaded your territory, I truly am sorry... I was just on my way out of it." She said as she smiled and made no move to leave, waiting to see what he would do first.

"My area?" he prompted, seeming amused at the idea. "Oh, no, no, no. I prefer the grounds. Your lot can keep the rooftops." It didn't matter if they had extra strength or could jump higher—or take a stronger blow—it was the idea of falling. Remarque had never been fond of heights, and even if he knew that a fall like this wouldn't kill him while he was powered up, when he was just a civilian, the fall was still lethal. In a world where he spent half his time as Eternal Sailor Remarque, Dark Mirror Senshi of Puppetry and half his time as Jett Draven, business major working part time at J.W. Antiques, sometimes the lines blurred.

Cockiness had always been a problem of his, perhaps obvious given his mostly arrogant demeanor, but he wasn't going to let it be his downfall. Not off a building, at least.

"Apologies, though. For frightening you. I get a bit…excited, you know. Whenever I find another senshi. Especially one as lovely as you. Tell me, what are you senshi of?" A quick assessment of her attire gave him a few ideas: ruffles, flowers—and then there were the stripes, which immediately put a bit of a sour taste in his mouth when he thought of Tsui. He tried not to let such displeasure cross his face, so his smile merely sweetened. "But don't let me be rude about it. I am Remarque. Senshi of Puppetry, of the Dark Mirror Court. And you are…?"

The compliment took Ida completely off guard and left her flustered, shifting about as she ran a hand self-consciously through her hair to tuck it behind her ears.

"Oh, um... Orchids. I'm Ida, Senshi of Orchids." She said as she felt her face heat up. It was not normally this bad when someone called her pretty, but he was a handsome man and being in the dark on a rooftop lent a sense of romance to it that no teenage girl, certainly not Ida, could not react to. It was silly, but enough to make her drop her guard for a few moments at least.

"Its nice to meet you." Ida said before she frowned curiously. "Did you say Dark Mirror Court? You're not a regular senshi then... I've heard about you folks. You're not looking for a fight, are you?" The Dark Mirror was a chaos faction... but all she really knew was from the database on her phone, she'd never really met one before. A bit of Ida's spine came back at that and she straightened up, poised and ready in case he should decide that now would be a good time to attack her. It was a little confusing... she didn't think that was what he had planned, but he was one of the bad guys, wasn't he?

"A fight?" Remarque blinked, and looked around, as if surprised that she would be asking him such a question. "At this hour?" At this height? Nooo, thank you.

"I don't know what the rest of the senshi have told you about 'us folks', but the idea that we'd prefer battle over conversation is so barbaric. No, we certainly aren't normal senshi—we're different, by a long shot, but don't let your teammates convince you that different is bad. We'd get along nicely enough with the White Moon if they weren't so hell-bent on eradicating us before we have time to interfere with any of their little rebel-without-a-cause schemes. I mean," he scoffed, "It's not like we want to implant a legitimate group foundation and structured goals. Noooo, because that's 'insane'. So, we get labeled the bad guys because we popped up with some fresh, new ideas that are apparently evil, which, for the record, is pointless since the White Moon tends to cause more trouble than we do, but you know what they say. The winners write the history books, so of course we're going to get a bad reputation."

He waved his hand nonchalantly, as if dismissing the subject. "I'm sorry," he apologized—in a tone that didn't really sound apologetic. "It's a subject I'm passionate about. I ramble."

Ida shifted nervously as she reached to tuck her hair behind her ears, biting her lip. He certainly was passionate about the subject... something she really knew very little about. The way he spoke made her want to apologize for her faction, but in all honesty, she didn't even know many of them or what it really was everyone was fighting about.

The big problem for Ida was that... she really didn't know enough to really understand what was going on. Its not like anyone showed up to take her under their wing and teach her everything she needed to know. All she had was a database on her phone and what she had observed, which tended to paint the chaos faction in a rather poor light.

"I'm sorry... I'm still really new at this. I know next to nothing about what has been going on, all I know is what I've seen. And what I've seen is monsters attacking people who can't defend themselves and hurting them." She said finally, her voice soft. "I would classify that as a bad difference. I can't justify what my own side has done. I don't even know why I'm involved in the first place... But I want to protect people from monsters like that."

"Ah," Remarque said, in a knowing tone. "Youma. Yeah, I'm not exactly a big fan of brain-dead monsters lurking in the city, myself, but the Negaverse is doing all they can with them. Trying to find some way to control them, keeping from wreaking havoc like they do. Sometimes they slip out though, the youma? And get lose in the city. I'm not sure if there's a way to stop them from getting out and causing all that trouble, but I'm sure if there were, then the Negaverse would have found a way to stop them already. Contrary to the White Moon opinion, the Negaverse only really has a desire to protect this planet. Senshi are the foreigners, and it's with the senshi that comes the war. I admit, the Negaverse has a bit of an aggressive stance towards senshi, if only because of the conflict they've brought in the past. The reason they fight so hard is because they're trying to protect Earth before it gets destroyed. You can't really blame them for their motives, even if you're a bit against their methods. For example, instead of fighting senshi, I don't see why we can't come to some sort of agreement to better everyone's lives, but," he sighed. "I suppose most of them see converting to Dark Mirror Senshi as swapping religions, though that's hardly the case. Being a Dark Mirror Senshi opens up more doors, gives you more power. More strength to protect everything you value, everything you want to keep safe."

"I don't... really understand." Ida said as she listened, trying to absorb what he was saying and align it with what she had seen. The Negaverse was trying to stop the monsters too? That wasn't what it said in her database...

"What do you mean by senshi being foreigners? I was born here, and I'm a senshi. If they were causing the war why would they just... let new senshi like me run around like this?" What he said sounded good on the surface, even tempting... she'd already proven that she wasn't terribly capable as a senshi, so the idea of getting more strength was appealing, but there was just something slightly off about the way it felt to her. The idea of swapping though...

"Can you really do that? Become a Dark Mirror Senshi?" She hadn't chosen to be awoken the way she was... was there really a way to be able to make your own choice? But that felt odd too... how could senshi be foreigners, the instigators of this war, when some random girl like her could awaken as one?

Even though the discussion was an odd one... it was sort of nice to be able to ask someone these questions that had been plaguing her, to get some answers and insight into this whole conflict and how each side was reacting to it all.

"Of course you can become a Dark Mirror Senshi," the male replied, always thinking this to be a glorious question. "We are far from an exclusive group, and our only interest lies in furthering ourselves and ensuring our planet's protection. See, Senshi are unique in that they can call two worlds 'home'. First and foremost, I was born here, on Earth. But that's not at all where my power comes from—nor yours. Somewhere out there, is a little world. A little place called Ida. A little place that is in ruins and shambles—dead—because of a mistake the Princess of the White Moon made a long, long time ago. So, in a way, we are foreigners. As long as you are Sailor Ida, a part of you is very much not from Earth. As to why they'd just let new senshi run around like that," he shrugged. "I suppose you'd have to take that up with them, not me. If you were a Dark Mirror Senshi, you'd have a group, a goal and a plan. I don't know what the White Moon senshi have going for them right now."

"That... is that why my name is Ida?" The flower senshi said, suddenly curious and apprehensive. She seemed to recall a section of the database about it, but hadn't read that quite yet, or at least only skimmed it. Apparently there was more to it than suggested at first glance. It was weird to think of herself as, well, an alien. Another world? It was strange idea, but one she was going to have to pursue. Was there a way to get there? The thought of getting into a space ship made her nervous, but surely that wasn't how it was done.

"I... I guess I understand, a little, why you call senshi foreigners. But... I don't understand much of this. Everything you say just... confuses me more. I'm going to have to think on it..." Ida said as she turned to look out over the houses, truly unsure about anything she thought she knew. Irregardless, she was going to be paying more attention now to the way people acted, rather than blindly listening to what they said. She would have to form her own opinions, after she did some more information gathering.

Remarque couldn’t tell if Ida was looking away because she was deep in thought or because she had somewhere else to be, however he knew that he neither wanted an uninterested audience nor to agitate a potentially interested one. "It's a lot of information to take in," he agreed. "And there's a lot of conflicting information. It's a battle in itself just to sift through the information and pick out the facts and the propaganda. I suppose you can have as much time as you need to think on something. Running into a situation without knowing all that you can is a fool's action, and you seem like a smart enough girl to me. If ever there is anything I can help you with, you should let me know. Get whatever information you need from others, but I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you might find yourself with."

He'd rather take the effort to explain things than let anyone of the White Moon do the same. He doubted they were capable of providing actual information and not their poor, victimized version of everything, coated in bias and lies. Besides—if he could prove her wrong about the Dark Mirror Court, maybe she'd be more inclined to give them a chance. Which was all he could really ask for, anyway.

Ida looked back at Remarque with a serious, thoughtful expression.

"I will do that. Um... thank you. For taking the time to talk with me." Everything aside, she really was glad that this evening hadn't ended with a fight she probably would have lost. She might not be as convinced as he might think, but that was okay. She would form her own opinions about what was going on and then decide what to do about it.

"I need to go now. Where can I find you, if I would like to talk?" Ida wasn't sure if the Dark Mirror Court had the same way of communicating that the senshi did, but she had a feeling they didn't.

"Thursdays. At the park. Eight from midnight, I'm around."

For as many people as he told, Remarque was surprised that there wasn't an ambush waiting for him every Thursday night, but so far, things had only ever gone in his favor. "Though, if it's any sort of emergency, you can go out, find any Dark Mirror Senshi. Just tell them you're trying to reach me, that you want to talk. They'll be able to give me a call."

He brushed himself off, more than ready to head down from the rooftops. "Take all the time you need to think, figure things out. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. So have a good night, Ida. Take care of yourself," he said, offering a polite little nod. He turned away, as if to give her privacy, but didn't make his exit so quickly that she couldn't say anything before he disappeared.

Ida nodded as she absorbed the information, feeling both relieved and still ill at ease.

"Thank you, again. I really do appreciate it." She said as she watched him turn to go, reaching to rub her arms as she suddenly felt the chill of the night creeping into her skin. "Have a good night, Remarque."
