Tora purred as a cool breeze made her fur stand on end. It was early morning and the sun was just beginning to share its warmth with the world. She came upon her little business called Paws and Rest and pulled out her keys. The was a click and the sound of a bell being disturbed as she swung the door open. She flicked on the lights and glanced around. To her left was a small waiting area with about 5 chairs and an assortment of books, magazines and toys. To her right there was a hallway leading to a room where she attended to all her patients. Tora pulled off her satchel, set it on the counter, and retrieved her two stuffed animals from inside. One was a green alligator she called Allie and the other was a very fluffy sheep she name Sally. Allie and Sally were her best friends and went everywhere with her.
"Alright, ladies. Let's get to work!" She set them up on a high shelf where they looked down and kept an eye on her. Then pulled out a hair tie and twisted and pulled up her hair to keep it out of her face. As always some of it would escape so she tied it up with a bandage to keep it all in place. Tora turned the sign so it read 'open' and began going about busying herself with organizing until someone needed help. She mostly took care of up bumps and bruises and on rare occasion broken bones. But, every so often, someone would come in having heard she had the rare ability to suppress memories. It wasn't something she liked doing, so she never charged for it. All she ever asked for, was that the person give her every detail about the memory in hopes they will change their mind about it. She knew that she could help them to forget, but what most of them didn't understand was that, sometimes, the procedure was not permanent. The memories were hidden, but the feelings remained. If they choose to peruse their feelings the memories would come back and she didn't have the ability to suppress them a second time.
She always felt a little sad when people asked to have their past hidden from themselves, and at the same time, a little jealous. Sometimes she wished she could stare into her own eyes and forget about her terrible past, to be able to move on and be truly happy. She shook her head to chase away her negative thoughts and set a stack of magazines down in a neat pile. Her ears perked at the sound of her bell announcing the presence of another person. Tora turned and bowed to her first patient of the day. "Hello and welcome to Paws and Rest! What can I do for you today?"
