"Yeeeasss ghouls. Or boils whichever you want." He shrugged. "Both are nice I suppose." But ghouls were softer. That was pleasant. He made an indiscernable humming noise.
"It's good to get out! You stay cooped up, hrm, far too much." Muka patted Joachim's knee heartily with his free hand. The other was still holding his cane. "Though I would be interested in hearing some music sometime soon!"
The cab pulled away from campus, out into regular traffic, and seemed to head into the heart of the city. The paused at stoplights and Muka watched the crowd become younger and more fashionable the closer they got to the city's center. Rickety shops gave way to sleeker, more upscale places with one word names like 'SKULLS', 'BLOODTIQUE', or 'DJINNLIGHT' Some of the stores even had names that were only numbers like '365*' the asterisk in the name made up of what looked like diamonds (or a good immitation).
Eventually they were deposited on a corner and Muka swiped a card through the credit reader attached the back of the seat. He motioned for Joachim to scoot out and heavily bounced himself along the leather until he joined his friend. There was (what looked like) a food establishment there. It had outdoor cafe tables filled with glamorous young zombies with multi-colored hair and large ear piercings and smooth face demon boils whose style looked to be a mix between modern and ancient.
"This place is, hee, hot right now." A neon sign flickered above them with a 50's diner style script. 'Elvis Lives'. "Strange name but.." The strix shrugged and opened the door, holding it for Joachim. Inside was a continuing chic 50's theme with gleaming chrome and odd shaped table tops. But the smell of the food was delicious, the crowd was hot and there was a large bar right in the middle of the massive room.
Perhaps Muka overestimated how adjusted or cool he and Joachim were, but to their surprise the boils fit right in with their own 'vintage bourgeois' style of dress.
