He had caught her unawares as she had gazed silently at the sky, Little Star resting peaceably on her shoulder. He had come out from the dark, slinking, sliding, pressing close. Clogging up her sense and her mind with his presence. His slick, oily words dripping dark into her ears, curling themselves into her mind, sinking in and entrapping her limbs, stealing her breath, freezing her bones. She thought she might shatter, crumble, fold, into a pile that spoke of nothing but weakness and fear.
He was gone now. But he was still here.
Lingering.
Dark, oppressive, and there she sat, shaking. Shaking and she couldn't stop. She wanted to still the tremors in her limbs, but could not. He- He had stayed to long. She couldn't shut his presence out of her mind, fold him into a small strange shape that would rest like a burr against her heart, but manageable. No. He wasn't manageable. He was shaking around, crashing against her ribs, trying to rip her open, render her a bloody butterfly against the ground. So she crouched down, tucked in close, her shakes taking over h body as she pressed her eyes shut, trying not to think of where Little Star had been flung by that buck; she would not, could not, use his name. Never again.
So there she sat. Eyes closed against the growing dawn, settled low in the mist, trying to close herself off from the world.Minsuil And so it begins, their dysfunctional, unhealthy tryst~

She was shaking when he found her. He thought his brother has slipped out and he thought he should find him before anything happened, but he had not found his brother. What he found was a doe who looked like fear had eaten her alive from the inside out. And Quelling Fire could not shake the feeling that it was because of his brother.
He knelt down beside her, and in a calm, soothing voice, asked, "Are you alright?"Amorpheous my name is minsuil and I love to abuse commas /cries in shame

Tending to Darkness jolted at the voice, so similar in tenor, yet it wasn't him, it couldn't be; the voice was too calm, not the smooth words of- of- that hid thorns underneath. Her eyes flickered frantically around, unable to see before they settle on the buck before her. Their colors, oh their colors, like fire coming to burn her soul out.
If she weren't shaking so much, she would have scrambled away. As it is, she cannot and so she merely cowers. Her ears flatten and she ducks her head down so she does not have to look about his colors, so similar yet different. She cannot speak. She grasps for words, for intelligence, for the safety of biting words and crushing minds, but there is too much fear for thinking and so she is quiet.Minsuil Oh gosh, sorry for taking so long!

She was shaking. Her legs were trembling with such might, Quelling Fire was surprised she had not collapsed into a heap of limbs and sobs. He took a step closer and recognized the look in her eyes. Fear. He knew it well. This close, he can feel her ever tremble as vibrations in the ground. He closed his eyes. What could scare someone to this extent? He was not sure but he leaned forward a tad and offered her comfort in the form of words.
"Shh, it is okay. I won't hurt you."

It was impossible for her not to be scared at that moment. Though she knew the immediate threat was over, she could not get her body to accept that fight, or more appropriately, flight was necessary. She planted her hooves, trying to stop the tremors wracking her body but it was mostly ineffectual. She turned away from him, unwilling to look at his face or meet his eyes. She stared at the ground, hating the shaking of her limbs, hating that she could not bring words to come forth and send him away, hating that she could not just be fine.
For a long time she was silent, refusing to look at him as she slowed the frequency of the tremors in her legs so she was not constantly seizing up in shakes. Finally she said, voice weak but bitter, "I'm sorry."Minsuil Ack! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you!

He was, at once, taken aback. She'd done nothing wrong to him and yet here she was apologizing as if she'd done him some great offense. Her legs shook and Quelling Fire was afraid she'd snap those stick-thin legs at this rate.
"No, don't be sorry. You have done nothing to me at all. Why don't we rest and you can tell me what is wrong."
His voice was smooth like running water, and he could only hope it could soothe her a bit.Amorpheous /whispers i'm so sorry /m

She sucked in a quick breath. She closed her eyes, pressing them shut tightly.
In and out. In and out. She shook her head. She was sorry, sorry to him, sorry to herself.
She began to feel, deep inside, angry at herself, but that part of her was still small in the face of the fear. If he stayed long enough, he might see it in cold fury and striking stabs with words meant to hurt. The worst was reserved for herself though.
Finally, she looked up and forced a shaky smile; her eyes were still scared, but she managed a fragile nod.
