Nico packed himself a small lunch and double checked to make sure no one was around. It was early in the evening and the sun was just beginning to sink below the horizon. It wasn't something he wanted to do, he'd been trying to talk himself out of it for days, but he couldn't take it anymore. He loved his mom, but whenever he wanted to roam the forest she would always lecture him about avoiding Grandpa Chief. His dad on the other hand, I hate him... Nico ground his teeth. He wasn't a father figure, he didn't even think of him as his father. Despite looking almost exactly like him, he didn't act anything like his deadbeat dad. Whenever Nico tried to have a serious conversation with him, Baru would always turn it into a goofy joke. He didn't act like an adult and Nico couldn't stand it.
He left a small note for his brother, telling him that he would keep an eye on him and visit him, but that he wouldn't be living with him anymore. He refused to write anything for his 'dad,' but when he tried to write something for his mom...She's going to hate me. Crumpling the blank piece of paper, he hurled it as far as he could. Sighing, he took one last look at the place he'd once called home and took of into the forest, knowing he could never going back.
