"Kaysar look! The volcano, it's going to erupt! This is going to be spectacular! Have you ever seen this happen before?" Phoebe was obviously excited about the impending eruption. It brought back memories of her birth. She stared at the smoke and flames coming out of the top of the mountain.

Kaysar could feel the vibrations caused by the impending eruption. The hot springs were sloshing, and Kaysar was secretly glad he was not in the water. He crouched lower to brace himself against the vibrations.
"I can't say that I ever have seen a volcano erupt as I don't spend much of my time near them. They do seem a dreadful sort of thing, and much too hot. But I suppose this is the sort of thing you're used to being so, ah.. fiery."

"Oh yes!" she replied, "I was reborn from the fires of a volcano. But we will have to be very careful, for if it erupts this way, the lave will flow towards us, and we will have to move quickly to stay out of its way." She looked at her date and wished he had wings like herself, so he could simply fly up if danger approached. She wasn't entirely sure her own wings would carry both of them to safety if need be. "How fast can you run Kaysar?"

Kaysar frowned a bit, irked by her question. "Run? I cannot say that I run away from anything, only cowards would do such a thing." The earth gave another shudder, stronger than any of the others, and Kaysar nearly lost his balance. He looked towards the volcanic peak, suddenly wary. "Though, if need be, I certainly feel I could outrun any danger that might befall me. Afterall, lava is not something you can fight off, it is best to simply stay out of its way." He looked at Phoebe again, slightly perplexed. "I admit I do not understand, if you are a phoenix then why should fire bother you any? I had assumed you would be immune to it or something of the sort."

She was glad to hear him acknowledge that he would run in order to remain alive, and not be extinguished by the lave, should it come in their direction. "Oh, fire does not bother me. We are born out of the ashes of the fire that consumes us when we die. However, I am not yet ready to die, and I do not know if I could rise again should I be consumed by a lava flow. Lave doesn't leave any ashes." The ground rumbled yet again, and the smoke and ash rising into the sky above them became even thicker and darker. Every so often a red spark would issue forth from the top of the mountain. The water in their pool was beginning to rise in temperature as well. Though she would be most comfortable in it, she was not sure that Kaysar would. "Perhaps we should find a more suitable place to continue our date. The water in the pool is much too hot now, and you don't seem interested in bathing anyway. What would you like to do?"

Kaysar thought it was a bit odd that she died and was reborn from ashes, but decided not to comment lest he should offend her. Though it did sort of make her seem immortal. As the rumbling of the volcano grew louder, sparks began erupting from the top and the hot spring water seemed to start boiling. A spark landed near Kaysar and he took a few steps back, perhaps it was getting a bit dangerous to stay up here. He was all too happy to leave at Phoebe's suggestion. "That does seem like the best idea. I don't mind bathing, but I prefer my water a bit colder.. and saltier. However, if this is something that you would like to stay to witness, the erupting, then we could find a safer location and stay. After all, we wouldn't want to risk any harm coming to either of us." He glanced around, wondering how far was far enough away from a volcano. A beach seemed far enough away, but he was not about to suggest that. Suddenly, the ground gave a violent shake and a loud explosion cut through the air. Kaysar started, immediately looking towards the volcano. The molten rock had begun spewing out of the top, red hot and glowing. The trembling continued and cracks started forming in the earth's surface. He backed away from the nearest one, not sure whether to be more frightened of the gaping holes opening in the earth or the liquid fire spilling out of it. "I think now is a good time to leave, yes, a very good time. I am willing to go wherever you want so long as it is quite far away from here." ((OOC: I don't really know what volcanoes do when they erupt, so I sort of guessed xd I think it's about right))

(OOC: You did just fine.) Phoebe would have been happy to stay and witness the eruption, but considering how violent this one was becoming, she knew it was not safe for either of them to remain in the vicinity. "It looks as though luck is not with us today Kaysar. The lava appears to be flowing in this direction, so it would be best if we move along the mountain side, and get away from the flow, instead of trying to outrun it by going downhill from here. Once we are a safe distance from the flow, we can start down the mountain." She looked at their immediate surroundings and gestured to the East. "I think our footing will be safer if we head in that direction."

"Yes, of course," he cleared his throat. "That is exactly what I was going to suggest, it is only a fool that tries to outrun mother nature. Best to outsmart her instead." He glanced nervously at the cracks in the earth, hoping that they would not continue to grow larger. He could not decide if he wanted to take the time to go around it or jump over it. He decided to go for the jump, it was not that wide across. "It would be most convenient to have wings such as yours, but it is unfortunate that I do not, I will have to jump the fissure." He backed up a bit and crouched down, preparing to jump the crack in the earth.

She watched as he prepared to jump. She herself was ready to take to wing should the need arise, but until that time, she would remain with all four feet on the ground. The ground shook again, and this time a loud boom came from the top of the mountain. Lava began flowing freely down the mountainside toward them, and the ground beneath their feet was warming up as well. "Hurry Kaysar! We haven't much time."

Kaysar shrunk at the sound, his nerves near their breaking point. This was not a good day, he did not want to jump across this crack but there seemed no other choice. He was NEVER going on another blind date again. He took a deep breathe and raced forward. With a leap he just barely crossed the crack. He let out a quiet sigh, glad at least that was over with. He took a tentative step, making sure his legs weren't going to give out beneath him. "Alright, now that that is taken care of, we really ought to get going, who knows how much time we have before the lava reaches us." He glanced up the mountain, and almost wished he hadn't. There was so much lava, coming so quickly, he forced himself to look away before he had a panic attack. With that, he started dashing to the east, being sure to watch his steps carefully so he didn't trip. He only hoped they wouldn't come across any more splits in the earth.

Phoebe sighed with relief as well, as Kaysar cleared the crevasse. There was no time to waste, so she followed his lead, and started to run behind him. Her blind date was proving to be a very exciting one in her estimation. She only hoped that Kaysar felt the same way. She found him very handsome, and so far he had treated her kindly. Some Medaria found her strange appearance to be disturbing, but so far Kaysar had not mentioned had cause to mention it. She hoped that he didn't, for it would definitely put a crimp in their date. She was hoping that at some point he might actually like her enough to want to have a romp with her.

Kaysar continued east, and thought they were making pretty good time. He hadn't looked behind him to ensure Phoebe was following, but he could hear her running behind him. He also made sure not to look towards the peak, he didn't want to know where the lava was. The sounds from the volcano seemed to be getting louder, and he could hear more rocks crashing around them. One in particular sounded quite close. He slowed his pace a bit, and turn his head to look behind him. He wasn't sure where it had fallen, or where Phoebe was, but he wanted to make sure that it hadn't landed too close to her.

Phoebe was staying behind Kaysar so that she could keep an eye on him, and make sure he was safe. She had no doubt that she could make it to safety should the danger become imminent, but he didn't have the luxury of wings to whisk him away. The volcano was spewing out large pieces of rock now, and one landed just behind her as Kaysar slowed enough to look back at her. "I'm okay!" she called out to him, "Keep going!" She could feel the heat from the lava now, and when she glanced back over her shoulder, she could see that her suggestion of outrunning the flow by going sideways along the mountain slope was not proving to be an advantage.

Reassured by her call, Kaysar looked back ahead of him, but not soon enough. There was a crack in the earth that his front paw got caught in, causing him to trip and fall over himself. Although he hadn't been moving that fast, the trip still sent him skidding through the dirt. He coughed as he inhaled the dry dirt he stirred up. He waved his paw in front of his face, trying to get rid of the cloud.
