This is a private RP between Gunter and Arvid.

Where: The Academy Dormitories
What's happening: Rumors have been going on about a boy who is lamenting the fact he can't cook. Gunter plans to fix this.

The original thrill of being at the academy of his dreams was slowly waning away, and now that the initial excitement had become everyday life, he was growing uneasy. Gunter had not been used to other people for a long time, having spent most of his time after his transformation in his bedroom in a little corner in Sewit. He had managed to get his own room, for the sheer fact that his hands sometimes liked to grow, and he'd managed to already break a few different desks.. So, to him, Isolation was the best choice! But the boredom.. Oh the boredom.. It crept up on him like a stalking tiger, and then once pounced, he couldn't get back up.

At any rate, this late at night allowed him to wander the halls just a little bit, while most others were asleep. Outside of each bedroom was a name tag, a pushpin cork board strip, and a little white board, where the students could leave messages for one another. It was a simple, yet brilliant way to learn about who lived in these rooms. Some had nothing but blank boards and a name, other's had silly pictures or rhymes, and his own personal one had a few pictures of comics he had commissioned Gunter, when he found one he particularly liked, would leave a little drawing of a thumbs up, and always a smiling face. He was not artist, not by any means, but he liked to think that people appreciated his little bit of a comment.

Today, there was something a little different.. Almost a bit of a want ad.. No, it was definitely a want ad. Some kid named Arvid was looking for a cooking teacher or someone who could at least help him figure out the basics of the kitchen. It took a moment of staring to actually allow Gunter to consider doing it. Sure, he enjoyed cooking, and he'd like to say he was at least decent, if not pretty good, at it. But then came the issue of all of the other things, like his strength, or his somewhat lack of people skills. He knew of some open areas, kitchens that were seldom used.. Maybe that would work..

As he continued to plot out this little meeting, about what he needed to buy, or what he could do to compensate for any type of allergies, he began to feel ill, as his constant nausea was coming back. It was time for another dosage of his medicine, and acknowledging this, he turned from the boy's room, heading down the hall to disappear into his own for the night. But before he did, he left a somewhat cryptic message.

Arvid, Be Prepared to Go at 3 P.M. tomorrow. Aprons will be provided. - C.C.

Having satisfied his curiosity by running all around the academy during the day day, Arvid had settled in for a early night's rest on the night Gunter wandered the halls. The Copper Combatant's message went unnoticed until early afternoon of the following day, when Arvid made his way back to the dorm he found so claustrophobic.

Green eyes narrowed as they took in the absence of the titles and styles that had accompanied his name since birth, only to relax again soon afterwards. No, this was no calculated insult, but simply an effect of the anonymous and egalitarian atmosphere here that he had been told to expect. Insistence on his aristocratic prerogatives would simply not be proper, here and now.

The remainder of the somewhat cryptic message raised more questions, ones that were not quite so easily answered. Arvid puzzled over these as he walked into his room and eased down his latest batch of library books into his bookshelf. For one, what did being prepared mean, exactly? Somehow he doubted that meant dressing up in formal wear. He dismissed the question with a shrug. For another, the mention of aprons suggested that his mystery correspondent had envisioned a practical lesson as opposed to the Q&A session he'd intended. He would have to be sure to correct that assumption.

Or not. The head chef back home had a theatrical streak a mile wide and a delight in having a captive audience, but she would never let him try doing anything in the kitchen, much less flambe something like he'd always wanted. This practical lesson could be... interesting. And Arvid was a big fan of interesting.

It did leave one final question: Was this meeting set for today or tomorrow? In any case, Arvid decided he had better postpone further explorations of the campus until evening. With more than an hour to spare before the appointed meeting time, he might as well get a start on writing some letters to the family he had left behind in Upper Sewit. He propped the door open and settled down to his task. If the mysterious C.C. showed up, so much the better, but he would not idle away his afternoon wondering.

By the time three o' clock rolled around, six pages handwritten in elegant script rested under various ersatz paperweights to dry in the breeze from the open window. Arvid himself stood by the windowsill, a faint grin on his face as he watched his bluebirds and a few little songbirds from the island peck away at the mix of cracked corn and seeds he'd scattered there.

Most of Gunter's morning consisted of running about getting things ready for his lesson. The kitchenette he had found to use was in more of the teacher's area, which he had asked permission to use, in exchange for some of the food they made. It was quite an ideal exchange, if he could say so himself, since most of the cooking utensils he needed was already located there. He was thrilled to be able to teach something, and had planned a full meal that the two of them could make. Of course, he had planned for more people to come, just in case there was someone who would wander by the kitchenette and wanted to get in on the cooking. If not, then it was still cool, He would have leftovers to eat and enjoy for later.

When the time came to go get Arvid, he was filled with reserved excitement, and came through the hallway with pride, and a mission in mind. Once reaching the boy's room, he nodded to himself, and opened the door without knocking, finding the boy he wanted leaning at his window.

"It's time to go. Onwards then." Gunter gave the boy no time to respond, or to prepare himself. He easily walked into the boy's room, scooping the other up bridal style, and proceeded to carry the other out of the room, to the place he had prepared, after pulling the boy's door closed with his foot. There were a few gazes recieved, but most people were finally finding out that when Gunter did something, it was probably for a good reason. They had learned not to question the ever stoic expression he seemed to care at all times. It did, however, take a moment to realize that the other might not have shoes on, but that was just another way to teach a lesson. You learn from error after all. Upon arrival, he gently set the boy down on the ground, rather pleased at himself that their travels did not result in any broken bones or the like. Not that he was intending to do so, never! But incidents happen after all.

"Put this on, Please. You don't want to mess up your clothing." He spoke quite frankly, handing the boy a frilly, but masculine blue Apron. It was the only one he could find in such short notice, and he, personally, found it to be rather adorable, regardless of who was wearing it. Gunter placed a small piece of paper before Arvid, before leaning back against the counter and crossing his arms. The paper was a list of each of the items they would be cooking, and what their drinks were as well.

"We will be cooking a three course meal. A fancy grilled cheese appetizer, a stirfry entree, in which you will choose the ingredients from what I have here, and a dessert of fried ice cream. There will also be a lesson on how to make fresh squeezed juice, if you want some. If you'd rather drink water, that too is alright. This will take about forty-five to and hour and twenty minutes to complete. During which, you will learn some of the most basic cooking components, which can be applied to countless tings." Oh.. Crap, he really hope he wasn't startling the boy. After all, it finally dawned on him that he pretty much just kidnapped the boy from where he was. Well... If he had any objections to what he was doing, he was free to leave. He wasn't one to keep hostages after all!

"We will begin when you are ready."

The feeding birds took off hastily as another student entered the room. Their panicked cries about a green human made not a whit of sense to Arvid until he turned around to see someone matching that very description. He was just nodding to the other boy's words and stepping away from the window when he found himself scooped right up.

Being lifted up definitely affected one's aim for the worse. Arvid's first reflexive kick as he was being lifted fell wide of its mark. Alas, the next few kicks fared no better, so he resigned himself to being carried. Sans extra flailing, fortunately for all involved. If he had to be carried anywhere, he was going to keep some modicum of dignity, thank you. The lack of outcry in the hallways, he decided, was a sign that this probably wasn't a kidnapping. Besides, it was a bad idea to enter a contest of strength with someone who could lift you. He bided his time.

Finally his feet touched ground again, and he rounded on the other boy, only to pause. Was he really seeing some sort of... pride in a job well done in that stoic face? Maybe a tongue-lashing wasn't in order after all. Deep breath, mental speed-count to ten... "I applaud your initiative in arranging transportation." He grinned. "But know that I -- and any other student -- would be happy to walk when neither injured nor otherwise incapacitated."

Arvid accepted the apron but gave it a dubious look in lieu of putting it on. "My clothes will survive," he said, blithely forgetting that those who usually took care of his laundry and mending were miles and miles away. "Are frills not... impractical? What are you putting on?"

He read the list with a faint nod. "Sounds ideal. And I am ready now. I will not cook or eat poultry. Or eggs. But we can add everything else to the stirfry." He clearly subscribed to the "more is better" school of culinary thought. "The appetizer comes first in a meal. Do we start there, then?"

"Well.. Too many times have I offered to help others, and they ended up flaking out on me, so I wasn't going to take chances with you. Not say that you would be the type of person to do so. I did make it clear to be ready to go at 3PM, right? As for the Apron.. I will not be the one cooking, therefore, I do not have to cook anything. Errr, wear anything. And frills are cute. So, in this situation, I don't find it impractical at all." Gunter did, however, go over to sink, starting to wash his hands. Just because he wasn't going to cook didn't mean that he wasn't going to try to help with it. After all.. If this kid happened to burn something, he would rather eat something.. not so burnt?

All of the ingredients were already laid out, and as the boy mentioned he wouldn't eat poultry, Gunter turned to put the chicken and eggs back into the refrigerator, feeling just a wee bit inconsiderate.

"I hope I didn't offend you by having that out. Then again, if you were so easily offended, then the whole kidnapping you probably would have shown that already." There were times where it took Gunter just a moment, or rather, a long time to figure out that he did something that might have not been so very sociably acceptable. His common sense did just fail him at times.

"My name is Gunter Gruen, or, the Copper Combatant, you know, C.C.? I guess I could have put G.G. but for some reason that doesn't seem as cool. the only difference between the letters is the crook at the end, so looking at it, I guess G.G. is more difficult to right than C.C. too. Oh, you should wash your hands too. Cross contaminants and all that. And yes, appetizers come first." His little bit of ranting betrayed his face, as it showed that even though he seemed to be in control of the situation, it had finally dawned on him that this entire fiasco was determined by Arvid's reactions to his plans.

"But why not let a reluctant student go free? It saves everyone time, for one," Arvid countered. Mild as his words were, he carried himself with the air of a practiced devil's advocate, happiest in a debate. He cast another dubious look at the apron but made no further demur before putting it on. Afterwards, though, he couldn't resist one more remark on the topic, accompanied by a poker face: "You know, I've never thought of cute and practical as the same. Quite the opposite, in fact." If he had since changed his mind, he didn't volunteer his opinion, not even in his expression.

While the other boy put away the chicken and eggs, Arvid took his turn at the sink. "No offense taken. I'm not out to stop anyone else from eating them." Stopping owls from raiding eggs in other birds' nests might improve interspecies relations, though. He tucked away the thought for another time. Focus was essential. "Even I can't avoid them all the time. I'd miss bread and cake." He dried off his hands after a thorough scrub and rinse. "A pleasure making your acquaintance, Copper Combatant. I am Auspex. My initials don't leave me much choice, really."

Now that his hands were clean, Arvid evidently felt free to stroll over and examine the ingredients more closely. He shot a wary glance at the vegetables for the stirfry, so utterly foreign in their original forms. "They all look so different before they're cooked." Since the grilled cheese appetizer was first on the menu, he picked up the wrapped slab of cheese gingerly, as if expecting it to slip right between his fingers. "I was expecting the cheese to ooze more. This is easier to handle, though, and heat will soften it." Even if his grasp of cooking was shaky, he understood chemistry. Better set down the cheese before it started to melt.

He picked up the bread next (not quite as crispy as he might have expected either, he judged after a judicious poke at it), then looked over at Gunter, all cheerful inquiry. "So, slices of cheese between slices of bread. Heated to crispiness, possibly over a grill. Is that the general idea? You'll have to fill in the details, of course."

To be quite honest, Gunter didn't have a response for the other's inquiry about letting the reluctant student go free. The more and more that he stood here, listening to the other go on about his opinion on things. Despite how he came off as, he was quite easily offended. Certainly had had not thought this through, but if he wasn't interested, he should have asked. his voice flattened just a bit, and just waited for a moment.

"Like I said, I won't be cooking you will. In saying that, I will show you how to cook for two, since you will be preparing the meal for both of us." He took a knife, holding it properly out to the boy.

"First off, you should get your pan hot. Medium should be just fine, and anything higher could be liable to burn anything it touches in an instant. Then, with this, you should slice up the cheese, even, thin slices. Too thick, and the bread will burn long before the cheese would ever do so. " Perhaps he would keep his speaking to a minimum. His excitement for this had decline quite a bit from it's initial place. Next time, he'd think things through a bit better, if he would even be up for a next time.
