Is it more painful to be the one who waits?
Or, it is more painful to be the one who makes others wait?

A velveteen night awash by a milky stream of stars blanketed the young continent of Zatao, filtered with song by countless Kriketunes humming and strumming whiny melodies. Amidst the countless exhalations of the slumbering, one was quickened, panicky, and seemed unable of rest. A single soul, trapped and hidden amidst a thicket of trees, felt her bosom flutter rapidly in worrisome succession. One hand clutched the bark of the trunk behind her, another was splayed upen her trainee uniform, clawing at the fabric, steadying her slowly, as she waited for the tumultuous storm to subside. Eventually, the nocturnal attack calmed, and she brought herself back to straight ankles.

Lennyka had been waiting, waiting since being granted the mission opportunity to meet her comrades out in the field. Her dwindling impatience forced her from her trainee dorm early -- too early -- and she passed the time hanging about their appointed rendezvous spot until everything was a settled go. Dullness lingered, as did anxious thoughts she was at the wrong place, but she passed them by, until they bubbled over and spilled out into one of her usual episodes. Sighing, Lennyka glanced her fallow gaze up and the lens of her glasses became encrusted by the reflections of diamonds trillions of miles away. It was nearing her time. Would they show? She truly, truly hoped they would.

Saya held her communicator close to her face. The bright light from the small screen was the only thing that lit up the darkness of the wilderness around her. She walked in a leisurely pace, not caring whether she was late or not.

She was studying the small cursor in the center that she assumed determined her position. She turned left and the little figure moved accordingly. Interesting. The girl had only seem this feature on the communicator used once before when she had gone on her first mission. She had been eager to explore how it worked, and now was her chance. She looped in circles and watched the map try to pinpoint where she needed to go. Needless to say, she was much more interested in the gadget than in the mission at hand.

Saya arrived late at the meeting point, her eyes were still glued to the screen. She didn't stop walking until she saw the figure move directly over the dot which was the location they were to meet. Who was she meeting, again?

Noting that both of the trainees had arrived, Walpurgis dropped down from the trees overhead. He wasted no time in explaining the mission. "Our target is a news anchor, one "Christopher Nimberry". He's been asking too many questions, and we've been tasked with guaranteeing his permanent silence." Walpurgis pointed to a building a ways away. "An anonymous tip told him that there was a defector that wanted to provide some information, but didn't want to go to the cops. I can confirm that he has taken the bait, but I was unable to confirm if he is carrying any pokemon. From what I gathered, he came alone as the tip requested." He turned to the two trainees. "One of you two will be the "defector". It doesn't really matter who it is."

Lennyka would've jumped forty feet in the air had she not suckered herself onto a trunk when her superior dropped from the heavens like a glob of Pidgey poop. Despite her shivers, she listened to what he had to note, and calmly peeled herself off of the dried bark and nodded her head, poking her glasses up higher on the bridge of her nose. "I . . . okay," she said softly with her gesture of affirmation. While being on the mission was fine and dandy, partaking in it torpedoed her thoughts another way. Her response to the latter brought about a hiccuped squawk from her. What would she have to do . . . ?

Saya looked up from her communicator and saw two people already in front of her. How they got there, she had no idea. She was most certain were supposed to be her teammates, though. Walpurgis and... some girl that she had never seen before.

He began speaking immediately and Saya listened, but still had no idea what was going on. She had no idea how who they were after, or how they were going to find him. She decided she'll just go along with everything and see what happens.

When Walpurgis said one of them would be the "defector," Saya gave the other girl a hard stare. She had no idea what that was. She didn't want to be whatever it was.

Walpurgis looked from Saya to Lennyka. An adult would be easier to believe being in Team Rocket than a child. "Lennyka, you'll be the defector. Saya, you'll accompany her as a family member that convinced her to leave. When he's distracted, see if you can steal any pokemon or weapons he may have." Pulling his last knife from his jacket, he flipped it in his hand. "I'll silence him. Let's go."
